In the "farm/ranch" ($400-500) category there is really no competition to the CS-590. It will cut circles around the Rancher and the Farm boss saws in the same category. I had the MS-270 and sold it quickly after using a friend's CS-590. I'm no professional logger, just a firewood guy but my CS-590 has been insanely good and reliable the last 3-4 years and unless I became a pro logger (not gonna happen) I would never spend $1000-1200 on a saw. This 60cc saw does the job extremely well and is a killer bang for the buck!!! Can't wait to do a few mods now and see how she runs

I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

I have Stihl/Husky and Echo saws. They are all good saws if taken care of. I did notice that both of the saws in your vid still seem to be running fat, lean the top end out on both of them and they will really come to life. I have the 590 and did a low jet bypass delete on the carb, put a 620 coil on it, cut the squish band and cut the base to bring it from .062 (I think it was) to .022, ported it and did the muffler mod on it and it's a different saw now, but the average person wont go this far with the 590.
I do recommend a muffler mod and pull the limiters and tune the saw after break in and you will see a much better running saw with the 590, this will give the most for the least since it can all be done for no additional cost. Also once the spur sprocket wears out switch it to a 620 rim/drum.

Back in the 80s and 90s, Echo built all of John Deere's power equipment; saws, trimmers, blowers, etc. They were all yellow with the JD brand, but they were built by Echo. From 1992-2000 I worked at a Deere dealer and we also sold Shindawa and Husqvarna. I bought a Deere (Echo) straight shaft weed eater in 1994 and I use it every week doing my trimming around my 1.5 acre yard. In all those years, the ONLY thing I've ever done to that machine is change the fuel line and a couple years ago I replaced the carburetor. The only issue I have with the old Echo equipment is finding parts. I agree with you that Echo is very good equipment and highly UNDER rated.

I've had two Husqvarna's for several years now and always liked them and thought Echo was a cheap off brand until I heard Echo was the best saw my local dealer ever sold. I gave one a try and in the last six months bought four of them from the little five pound 2511 to their biggest, the 7310 and two more in between. Absolutely great saws! Now when I cut something with the old trusty Huskies I wonder why I didn't notice the many downfalls of them before. My Husky 55 just about takes your arm off pulling the recoil every now and then whereas the Echo is incredibly smooth and easy to pull over.

I own a Stihl MS-391 with a 20" bar, Echo CS-490 with a 16" bar and a Husqvarna 435 X-Torq with a 16" bar. I like and use them all however the Husky is the least reliable of the 3 and the hardest to get started. I am soon going to add another saw to the mix and it will be a Echo CS-590 Timber Wolf with a 20" bar. I like the Stihl but they are too expensive to stack multiples and extra backups. The Husky has a good feel, balances well, cuts well and has good power. It' a real stinker to fully trust and rely on it though. Definitely a temperamental bitch that starts and runs when it feels like it. The Echo is a perfect combination of the power and reliability of the Stihl at a lower price point. It always starts up quickly and runs great, you can fully trust this saw. I only run Stihl premix 50:1 MotoMix and Echo Red Armor canned fuel in any of my saws. They are given the best quality fuel and oil to run their best. I never used the Husky premix 50:1 canned fuel because it is only semi-synthetic, not fully synthetic like the Stihl and Echo fuels.

I've been looking to buy a chainsaw for about a month now. Initially It was a toss up between Stihl and Husqvarna. I've run both and like both. The Husqvarna cuts faster from my experience, but I grew up around Stihl and was more partial to it. But after reading a multitude of negative reviews, I'm leary of buying either one. It appears that to get a solid Husky or Stihl one has to almost buy a pro grade saw. That's $750 and up! I kept seeing the mention of this Echo CS 590 Timber Wolf so I decided to investigate it more. I was impressed to say the least by the video reviews and positive comments on this saw and at a $400 price point it was a no brainer. I haven't pulled the trigger yet because I'm still researching. I went to Echo's website and that's when I came across the Echo CS 620P and CS 620PW. I'm now leaning towards the The CS 620P as it's comparable to a Stihl 362. Both are pro grade saws but the Echo is at least $250 cheaper. And with a 5yr consumer warranty, that exudes confidence on Echo's part in the quality of their saws compared to the others 1yr warranty.

    I got a question
Whats the difference between a pro saw and a homeowner saw

    • @lawsonlawnandfarm8073

A homeowner saw will have a different style chain and a different piston and cylinder and several other things will be of cheaper quality than a pro saw just depending on brand. A pro saw is made to run every day all day and hold up. The 590 is definitely a excellent saw for the money!

To all you Miller's and loggers out there...pun intended 😎...give vegetable oil a try...just take a med sized paint brush and run the vegetable oil on both sides of the bar using a paint brush and the access oil along the chain....works a heck of a lot better than the oil intended for the saws and honestly I've found that it actually tempers the chain...meaning hardens the metal chain itself & the teeth stay sharp for a longer period of time...just give it a try...I've done this for the last year solid cutting timber once a week....I use a craftsman 38.5cc with a 20in bar H78 on the chain...worx wonderz...I do carving, milling and cookies along with logging then and again...still on the same chain..👍

I've had a CS-400 for about 12-13 years. It's been the most reliable saw I own. I've been cutting 16+ cords of firewood for the past 6 years. I've had 2 Home Depot Makita DCS-6421s. One did the majority of my cutting. However, I just lost the one of those 2 that I rarely use, mainly because it's always been a turd, I just didn't know why (bent crank, and I think it was that way when I bought it, I was just dumber back then). I did, however, come across another brand new CS-400 for $200 in case the OG goes bad, and a CS-590 store return for $150 to basically replace my turd. Both have done what I expect. They aren't on the same level as the Makita by any stretch, but for the price, I'm STOKED. Good quality saws and the price is like a sore Peter. You can't beat it. Except for a still-good Home Depot Makita. Then you can beat it.

That skip chain is not for professionals or tree guys man. I'm a professional arborist and a skip tooth chain is designed for a saw to pull a longer chain than it is recommended to be doing. Your 365 can handle a 28 in bar with a full chisel chain on it. Your limiting its potential. It doesn't take bigger chunks. The size of your chips depend on your depth gauges or rakers. I run a 365. Your really slowing the cutting down by using that. You could put a skip on a 36in bar and it'll pull it. But not a regular chain it will bog and not perform.
