Post-Shading a 3-Tone German Camouflage! (Shady Jagdpanther 314)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 вер 2024
- My friends, let's try two things: painting with the new AK Real Colors and post-shading a Normandy-style German camouflage. Using the post-shading method on a single-colored model is extremely easy, but if you have a camouflage on top of it, things get more shady.

Martin, honestly I'm speechless every time you make a video. Your models are so extremely awe-inspiring, I almost can't handle it haha. Top job my friend! 👍
What he said 👏
YEAH 🤗🤗
Thank you so much! :)
Nice
I literally started modelling because of uncle night shift, and this model paint job is seriously the best camo tone Martin has done. Well done, keep going!
I just can't believe that's that's year since the jagdtiger lol
I've got mengs newish G2 with the crane it says on Box with engine but no engine in kit atoll nor in any other's I checked a few in the shop's meng must have forgotten they put with engine printed on Box! Lol
"The Zimmerit was so gnarly, they wouldn't adhere properly." Zimmerit doing its job then :D
Looks superb as always! Can't wait for the next episode.
Exactly! And I was worried it would look too flat :D
Perfect! Why does the Jagdpanther look like it has toilet patterns? Well, that was a joke, but I seriously love it.
watch his other previous videos
They wanted a fancier look :D
@@NightShiftScaleModels Ah, yes!
Martin Kovac, I'm no expert, you did well, but you should dull down the decals, as they are too bright, they should match the dullness of the camo, so that they dont look 'freshly' painted on. I usually use a coat of clear with a drop of the base colour and spray it over the decals to 'blend' them into the base colour, this creates a 'used' look and enhances the weathering. Thanks for your videos, I have watched them all. PetervanHorne.
Very good tip! Thank you!
Amazing already!!
And the next thing we know is a Tigerbattle under the larch forest? 😂
I've been modeling over 50 years, and I've learnt a lot watching you. Thank you.
I think this might just be your most beautiful build to date, and its only going to get better from here!
Fingers crossed for that! :D
Very nice work on the camouflage! I used the AK RC paints recently and I too found the redbrown to be a little dark. I think I'll go back and lighten it up with a little marbling.
Take a little dark yellow this will match much better and blend to the yellow much much better
But that is what the actual RAL 8017 was supposed to look like. Just like their RAL 7021 is the correct dark gray, and not that lighter gray or blue-gray people use.
@@wwiiinplastic4712 It looks dark enough now, but then with a varnish and wash it will end up too dark.
@@Panzermeister36 That's the scariest moment ever. You finish painting a model with matte colors and it looks pretty okay, so you go ahead and put gloss or satin over it and it suddenly becomes a lump of coal :D
Yessssssss, what air brush set up do you use??
That decal trick is ingenious! Looking forward to the rest of this series. I'm also working on a big German cat (Tamiya 1/35 King Tiger Ardennes Front), really a pleasure to build. I would love to see you tackle a King Tiger, Martin!
I love how the three colours complement each other well. Often one colour always ends up darker or lighter than the others and spoils the effect
Here is my honest and totally unbiased thought: You are a GOD!
A mere peasant :D
Dude! I like it without even the weathering effects! My best model looks like this for good or not! Don't loose motivation and stay safe! Also hope your leg will be good soon! Greetings to you from Bulgaria!
Watching uncle nightshift do models _properly_ while I fix mine!
For one of your next builds could you do kit with an interior?
Yeah,like the RFM Sherman.
What a kit.
Boy do I need tips and inspiration for that, great idea my friend.
😎❤✌
At this point everytime I look at a new vid thumbnail a voice echos In my head " mah friends"
how was the jagdtiger so long ago - I still think the tiger was recent............
1:54 Ah Yes. Chocolate.
Make the dark yellow tiger one from the movie fury
French Building and Hedges incomming? 🤔
How are you going to paint the wheel rubber rims though?
Thank you for tossing bits of your knowledge to us all,I always look forward to what you "feed" us :)
Another Outstanding video and presentation.
I think this is the best 3 tone German camo I've ever seen! How do you keep this pace up man! KUTGW.
Hello MUH FRENS from england
Amazing as always, I really like how the post shading brought the three tone camo together. :)
I'm really, genuinely loving this build. And I'm super excited for a more chill diorama involving the Jagdpather, that shows the quiter side to the war. Always good to have humanity in artwork.
Zimmerit under a coat of paint 👌😫
Marty, you never cease to amaze me. You're actually one of the reasons i returned to my childhood hobby! I stopped building when I was about 13-14 (around 81) and I picked it up again at the beginning of 2020. I love your sense of humor dude. :-)
Please don't take this the wrong way, but your 39 year gap, makes me feel much better about the stash I've accumulated over the past year. Seriously you know your down bad when an Airfix Vulcan is appearing in your dreams and asking 'what? You think you're better than me?!'
@@TBone-bz9mp😂
I can relate to this in so many ways haha. Only a smaller gap of around 15 years but besides that, I felt this one 😂
@@TBone-bz9mp I'm on a 2-year gap now and counting. There's just not enough space here in the condo, but my wife is very supportive and she supports my accumulating stash until we move into a bigger house. She's even bought me a couple kits already.
Wow nice work! You are like a wizard even how you paint your figures and dioramas. Love it👍🏻
Looks amazing as always Martin! I think you should either do a Hetzer or a Panzer 4 if you wanna do a dark yellow camo
Or that one Sturmtiger which was painted yellow and abandoned in some German town :)
@@NightShiftScaleModels Thats also a great idea :o
Great result as usual! Considering both MLT and Tamiya Laquer Thinner have a retarder in it: Is there even a noticable difference? Personally using MLT for years only basically and can really confirm the smooth surface
I've freehanded all of my airbrushed camo patterns in the past, but this week I'm trying out the Silly Putty masking method on a Japanese tank destroyer. Not sure yet if I will keep using it.
You have fantastic skills. I want to see you step out of your comfort zone and build a battle damaged Star Wars AT AT or X-wing or possibly an Optimus Prime.
Probably one of the best 3 tone camo schemes I've ever seen. We have a saying in the UK...."that's the dogs bollocks"...well done sir..
The mutts nutts ! 😁
@@bugler75 yeah that too..lol...
Nice that shouted out JB. He's a good dude.
Simply brilliant work !!!!!!!!! Would love to see a 1:16 scale model of you!!!! With even more details !!!!!
2:02 Would AK RC061 RAL 7028 (1944 Version) as a Shadow Coat, flowed by a standard AK RC060 7028, and then a lightened AK RC060 7028 be a an acceptable option?
Looks very nice maybe spraying dust or mud color will make it more realistic, but is great already 🔵🔵🔵👍👍👍😀😀😀🔵🔵🔵
Amazing as usual!
I would love to see you try the Oxidrot/Dunkelgelb camouflage. Maybe on something like a Hetzer. With the white stripes it has such a unique look.
Cheers!
Red oxide camouflage? You mean rotbraun?
@@Panzermeister36 no, I really mean the oxid primer. Late in the war there was not enough paint left, so they used the dunkelgelb on the primer for a makeshift camo. Like the Panther Bovington has on display.
@@AWarriorsQuest yeah, that's a myth. There are hundreds of photos of tanks serving in the last weeks of the war and they all still have the elaborate factory camouflages. They were even introducing new camouflages such as the Octopus scheme which is photographed on one of the last King Tigers built. Occupied factories after the war still had ample paint supplies and many spare parts. Things like rubber and special alloys where what the Germans were running out of.
The Bovington Panther was built after the war under REME supervision in a captured factory. It's not a standard vehicle. And, remember that Bovington mislead people for decades with their fictional blue Caunter camouflage scheme. Only recently did they admit it was wrong...so be careful what you take away from museum pieces. Very few are in original condition :)
@@Panzermeister36 oh, I didn't know that. Thanks for the clarification and your long answer, panzermeister! A pity you can't trust the museums ;) however I still like the look :D
@@AWarriorsQuest I know, some day I will do a red oxide finish :P it's nonsense but looks so cool...
Instead of reading "tone" I read "TONES" and i tolld myself in my mind ''The JAGDPANTHER DID NOT HAVE ONLY 3 TONES '' but then i watched the first seconds of the video of you sayng 3 tone
and it al became clear
Looks perfect as always, but that barrel will be better in camouflage. ;) All the best for You! ;)
Thumbs down just for lack of Iron Maiden reference! Just kidding, thumbs up for pure AWESOME! I especially like your humility considering your skill, nothing but best wishes for you!
I really want to buy this from this guy but he's probably not going to sell it because of how much he loves doing what he does.
Your, like, the only WWII tank model… person? I don’t know the name ;-; BACK TO THE SUBJECT your the only person I can find that does this, so cool!
If you wanna make a straight "Dunkelgelb" kit. I'd suggest a StuG, a Panzer III or IV, or even a lighter support vehicle like a Sdkfz 222 or 234. The E model of the StuG and F Model of the Panzer IV are excellent choices with lots of potential for dioramas since they saw a lot of service on both fronts!
Well ! I expect you could do the deceisive Green Jagdpanther which is different from your Jagdtiger ... but anyways still a magnificently beautiful 3-tone camouflage . 😉
Incredable skill. All your tips are very inspirational. Good bust to do mundo models. Tanks you. You Rock it 🤘🏾
How is your Health? Sorry the question , but you said in vídeo you went to the Doctor.
This is amazing truly wonderful keep it up man
Because of you Martin when I bought the Tamiya Jagdpanther "Late" I also bought the complete eduard PE kits (4 sheets) loads of it....thanks m8 my works cut out now lol...just kidding, you inspired me to detail it more, redo welds etc and thanks to you my weld effect skills are muuuuch better..also make tarps using your method, but use greenstuff 2 part epoxy putty as cant get tamiya one in UK....thankyou
Yup you really should do a dark yellow or desert yellow scheme, maybe a 1/48 DAK PzIII to compliment the Crusader
You do a fantastic job. But I can't use an airbrush (I'm missing my right Index Finger, and my left hand just won't co-operate). Any suggestions?
Very good job on the paint. I'm glad you finally went Masterclub because they are the best out there. Also, one of your hatches is missing, did it fall inside? Looking forward to next Friday!
It's the one I managed to snap during the construction so I'm painting it separately :) Superglued to a toothpick.
Nice job, man! I have a question tho - I see that you use Fengda airbrush.I have diferent model, but same maker. So how you clean it when using so much paints??? Like - dissasamble it every time??? Or there is some "quick" way??? Because this is one thing that I am afraid off.
Could you give the reference of the camouflage guru (Dany Banane? 🥴) you are mentioning. Thanks!
Hello friend! Beautiful and magical works. Wich pressure did you use on airbrush?
This build is astonishing like I’m just speechless 😶 I wish I could built and painting my models like you!
Me being a Plane builder was dared to build a tank and was referred to you and OMG i’m so stealing many of your techniques. Automatic subscriber. Good job!! Btw I couldn’t tell a Tiger from a Sherman even if my life depended on it.
7:15 Ghost of the Jagdpanther thinks you're talking too loud and closes hatch...
Dear Marty;
May I know the reason you used Tamiya orange cap lacquer thinner for water base paint? Any pro/con for doing that? Thanks
Like the pattern. It seems a little "skinny", but like you said almost all these came jobs were adhoc in the field affairs.
For a Normandy track I wouldn't leave the barrel naked. A new barrel would have had either brush or a came net wrapped around it.
Key to survival. If you look like a target, you're gonna get shot at. So don't look like a target. Especially from an aerial view. The Germans were distinctly aware of allied ground attack aircraft in the Normandy campaign.
So, when you mix the paint and thinner for post shading, it's supposed to be mostly thinner at a ratio of approximately 80% thinner, 20% paint? Also, about what psi should I be spraying at with a 0.2mm?
Stop making this stuff look easy... My wallet is already dead...
please make a aircraft model. Would be interesting watching you do something like that.
Man you do incredible work! I paint warhammer as my main hobby. But I’m also into world of tanks and I’ve been watching you’re videos I really want to pick up a kit. Do you have any suggestions for good beginner kits? I’m good at painting but other then warhammer models I have no modeling experience
Would be super cool if you could say the Bar or PSi you a re working with, specially with the "airbrushed pin-wash" :)
This vehicle to me looks like the sports car of armour. Love your work, as always 👍
Please to a paint job just using brushes....not everyone owns/has the confidence to use a airbrush !!!
The black & white of the "314" decals look off register, touch-ups with some white and a sharp pointed brush will do the trick!
Nice job! I haven't built a Jagdpanther since the '80s.
Phantastic video as always - just not a fan of that "brown"...
Cheers Fedja
Everytime I watch one of your new videos I do your voice saying "My friends!!".
I think is absolutely great, I agree with the comment with the last video too, Make a shot out t-34 76 for the display. it'd ne a nice start to a multi vehicle display using your nice new Tank Destroyer.
Amazing paint job!! What airbrush do you use??
Great job, may I suggest you to use decktan instead of yellow for camo highlights.
Uncle, I was just wondering if there is any chance for you to paint plane, ship or even something sci-fi that is out of your comfort zone, or you are interested only in big heavy outdated tanks? I mean who doesn't like big old tanks :D
Tonne*
Last Friday I bought some ak real colors and surprise surprise, uncle nigthshift made a video using the same ak real colors I bought. Even more exited to use them on my tiger 2.
Sorry to say man, but the Zimmerit is not up to your capability. This is kind of hard to believe considering how much you love your weld lines. I mean I know that you can find some that look that square, but they look as if they had been done post war, nothing like the beautiful variances to the ww2 photos era Zimmerit. Even if you choose to do the bland square option, the zimm is usually higher toward the centers of the squares, whereas yours have a very noticeable cut with an exacto look where the edges seem to be higher.
I mean I know it is nitpicky, but figured you might appreciate the honesty.
Another former kid model maker getting back into the hobby here. Putting everything I knew about building kits behind me (forgotten it all really) I wonder which is a better method when it comes to painting, realising personal preference is a factor.
Is it better to simply build the whole model then paint it, going back over the little bits like external equipment, etc with either brushes or masking around them and touching them up?
Build the model with some parts pre-painted and then assemble for the final paint?
Or build the main body, leaving parts off completely, paint it and the other parts separately, then do a final assembly?
Don't know why this stresses me out so much, but it does. It certainly has stopped me in my tracks from going ahead as I gather kits to start, only to sit on the shelf and gather dust.
Looking forward to this one!
Hello! Please tell me what pressure you set on the compressor to apply camouflage? And what is the diameter of the airbrush nozzle do you use for camouflage? Thanks a lot!
Very nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Totally unbiased and whatever, I love it!! I wish I could paint that good lol
You have mentioned on numerous times about you being an amateur when it comes to painting. I don't think so, it's too good of a job. There is one thing about your diorama though. You would never park a tank of any sort, on uneven ground for an extended time. Why? because, especially with torsion bar suspension, there is too much weight and stress on just a few wheels which is not good.
Hi, I've wanted to ask for a long time - which figure did you use in your Jagdtiger build? I will be grateful if you give a link where you can buy it.
Absolutely awesome. Nice work, brother. Cheers!
superb work martin. and i thought the jagdtiger was impressive…
hello, please advise a varnish from a spray can for acrylic paints, I just paint with a brush, thanks in advance)
"my airbrush technic is far from perfect" while doing awesome camo by hand 1cm away from the kit :D
👌 Some camo on the barrel would make it better. The russians would se that flag pole from far with a forest background.
Greta job as usual! Why not painting the barrel with German Grey or Red oxyde primer?
Loved this,one complaint.!
Not long enough.
😎❤✌
I hereby identify as a two tone Jagdpanther, or a Stug III.
Next time you happen to break off the fixing nut you can use a magnet to guide it back in place and turn the panzer upside down and re-glue it.
My opinion try Ammo of mig ultra Matt varnish on your decals it works very well!!
Stupid question.
Shouldn't be the color gone on the spots where the zimerit is broken, so that the color under it is visible ?
I love your work btw! ♥
Your dunkelgelb is not so good. Check some original color photos first.
Which brand of airbrush are You using? Regards from Argentina
