Just a tip from someone who works professionally with 3D printers: just use a pot with hot water and put the parts in for one minute. Then you normally can easily pull of the supports (sometimes depends on the used material). Just make sure it is not as hot that the parts also start to bend/deform.
@@thunderstruck6647 I use about 85C from my kettle, but that was with Forge World resin for Warhammer kits, I can't be sure if the 3d printed stuff would work quite the same. Advice I got was to start with hot tap water, and if it doesn't do enough, add splashes of boiling from a kettle until it works. Another good option for longer pieces is a hair dryer, they can direct a pretty solid and controlled amount of heat.
He cites at 5:08, that the reason he didn't do it is because "3d Resin doesn't react well to that, and they won't bend back into their original position a week later."
Yes! It can clearly be seen that the French had been fielding the Panther post war and used the tech and updated it for the running gear. It would be an interesting concept to do a what if model of a 1948 panzer MBT of a victorious German-GB-USA pact vs Soviet cold war era vehicle.
If there's one good thing I can say about Wargaming is that their art department has never let me down and they deserve all the love they (the art dep.) can get, they do a really good job.
Man I've wanted a proper AMX (any of the experimental ones) kit in plastic for a while now. Shame they're not that well known to warrant one of the bigger manufacturers taking a shot at them. Still, this looks temptingly good.
@@NightShiftScaleModels I'm still holding out hope for someone like Amusing Hobby to do a kit as they seem fond of experimental and paper tanks, and they do good work with those.
@@ozzythehoddy I have one of the Takom ones, solid little thing. But I meant stuff along the lines of this one, AMX 50 100, AMX 50 120 or even the Lorraine 40t which is even more unique with those rubber tyres for roadwheels.
Great work! This looks very impressive. I've seen some of these ResinScales kits on FB but people complained about a lot of layer lines and poor printing. It looks like they've upped their game on the newer releases :)
Hey there King, some of the print texture is very hard to remove and it would require a lot of time and effort, but the best way is to accept the model for what it is - a raw 3D print (and that already makes it pretty unique!). It's also surprising how much can be hidden or obscured by paint :)
When watching you grind that resin, I just had to say something. That paper mask isn’t going to keep those super fine resin particles out of your lungs. I recommend getting a 3M 7502 mask with some P100 filters, or equivalent. When sanding, do it wet. You won’t know you sucked up too much resin until it’s too late and you become hypersensitive to dust. Just trying to help.
Accurate Armour have been manufacturing excellent complete kits of 1/35 military vehicles since the late 1980's. I've built their Panther D w/ IR scopes and zimmerit, they're outstanding. I will build it when I master seascapes. Great work sunshine and so entertaining with your observations.
Protip from someone who handles 3D printed resin models, albeit not tank ones, at my work. The bottom hard piece the supports are attached to is called the raft, and we often break that into pieces before beginning to remove individual supports, as it makes it a little easier to get at the more interior supports. The supports attaching it to the parts will often break off the parts with the raft pieces before the parts break (with obvious exceptions when it comes to more delicate parts).
HORAY! I’m glad to see you back on UA-cam! I’ll be honest Martin, this is awesome! Once again you have surprised us all and created another beautiful kit, great job!
@@NightShiftScaleModels Yes -- assuming they're using consumer-grade printers, we're talking 3 seconds for most layers, and there are likely 20 layers per mm of height. Since the hull looks like it was printed standing on its front, that's per mm of the length. Plus it has to be cleaned and cured -- and they have to account for failed prints in their costs.
I appreciate the bottom corner notes for new tools and toys used in builds! I'm always pleasantly surprised by the variety of tricks and tools that are out there to make modelling more enjoyable. This is really impressive! I used to run conventions for Games Workshop and it would often mean building out resin Forge World models for displays. The level of detail on the larger vehicles never got close to this, and there was always a copious amount of having to de-warp large hull panels. Set me off ever looking at resin, honestly. I will say, I would miss the fun of assembling plastic kits, I'm one of those who really enjoys putting 800 pieces together over a week or so in the evening, but seeing the technology at work really excites me in regards to aftermarket bits, the barrel especially, but also turret options for rarer versions of vehicles that already have solid hull kits out there.
Finally, I was interested in this hobby before but couldn't find any cheap and good kits near me. Lately, I was thinking about whether or not I could just model and print my own tank model. But thanks to this video, you have sparked my interest in this hobby once more. Looking forward to the end result!
