We Are Building A Murphy Bed!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 жов 2024
- We are back doing local custom projects for the first time in a couple of years! Our original Murphy Bed video we made back in 2016 was so fun and did so well, that we were excited to hear a new client wanted a Murphy Bed built. We bought all rough-cut poplar, so the milling begins!
If you are needing a guest room, but also have your office in your guest room, then a Murphy Bed is the perfect solution! We actually might have to take this idea and put one in our home office!

THIS COMMENT💚 Comfort Food🤣
@@Woodbrew ...for the soul
G'day kids, Molly you're a legend .👍🇦🇺
In a platform littered with fakeness and clickbait, you two are REAL. That's why I stop what I am doing and watch when I get a Woodbrew notification on UA-cam. Thanks for what you guys are doing. I look forward to seeing where you are 10 and 20 years from now. Keep up the great work!
😭😭 That’s literally the nicest comment anyone could ever say! We appreciate that tremendously!! Can’t wait to share more🤗
As someone quite a bit older than ya'll...let me give you this: That "time flying by" part you mentioned...that just keeps happening, faster and faster, the older you get. I'm in my mid-50s, and a month feels like a week. A year feels like a couple of months. And a day goes by in about 3 hours. ;-)
Wow do you have that right. At 71 it is a blur. However I did find out that if you whack your thumb with your hammer in the early morning it slows the day down a great deal. Just saying.
Time just needs to slowwww down😅
Very very true
Well I am 70 this year and time flies so make the most of every moment before it runs out, cos it will!🇬🇧
I think you have the right outlook on processing logs and other work. Looking at everything from a monetary perspective will, I think, cause regret later in life. Continue as you are. Enjoy the ride. It’s too short. 👍
Nice to see how you know the tradition to check the chains, and exclaim "that aint going nowhere" . Sometimes, especially when you are owning your own business, there will be jobs that won't pay a dime, like cutting logs into lumber, but will pay off in the future ... the thickness you want, the length you need, and not having to pay yard prices. And I enjoy watching your vids, a nice young couple that has their act together, especially when Dylan got smart and married Molly, best decision he will ever make. (quit gloating, Molly) :)
Milling the logs is not only a weekend thing! It’s also content we will watch.
Good to hear!! We have some videos of the mill and plan to do a whole lot more!
Keep doing your stuff and being you. I enjoy your content and work ethic. It’s refreshing.
Appreciate that so much!! Thank you!
Thank YOU for all the great content!
So happy you enjoy it!
Thanks for sharing your hopes and dreams for the future. I'm hanging in there for the ride.
You and us both! Thank you so much!
Nice video Dylan & Molly :) Thanks for sharing it with us!💖👍😎JP
Thank you!💕💕
@@Woodbrew Your very welcome :) Have a great week😎
I have loved watching you grow up and mature in both yourselves and your woodworking/building. You should absolutely be proud of yourselves because I am.xx
😭😭 thank you so much!!
I have been with you from the beginning and to watch you grow from the kids in the first video to the adults you have become has been wonderful. If I lived near you I would have been honored to do a project with you both. I have learned from you guys and have even built some of your projects and I say thank you for inspiring me to be a better woodworker. I look forward to your future and watching you hit more mile stones running. God Bless.
🥹Thank you!! And thank you for your continued support through the years! We know a lot has changed with us and our videos since the beginning, so thank you for sticking through! ❤️ Cheers to the future!
Always important to stop and realize how blessed you are in life -- you two are doing great. I think I started watching you after seeing you on Jay Bates channel. Always enjoy seeing what you put out.
Ah yes! That was so fun! Thank you so much for watching us🤗
I admire your energy and skill, and I look forward to every video you post!
Yayy! Appreciate it!!
Good start on the project, and many thanks for the update and chat at the end. Enjoy you guys taking us along your journey over the years. Cheers
Thank you for being here! We love to chat, especially Dylan🙃, and we can’t wait to keep on trucking!
Great start on the project, and I am looking forward to more videos as well. I think it's great that you are getting the sawmill up and running and getting some logs in. I can imagine it must be feeling like an addiction, and like you, I don't look at my day as an hourly wage, but the joy I get from what I do with it
Very! We’ve only cut up pine so far, so we can’t wait to get some fun wood up there! And then being able to make furniture or structures from our OWN lumber is going to be amazing🤗
Good job handling the material 💪🏽 Didn’t look light. And being introverted isn’t a bad thing at all
Thanks! I guess it just seems ironic for a couple of introverts posting videos to UA-cam. But honestly, I think it has brought us out more where we can be ourselves. Those easy videos were pretty rough🤣
Keep going it is awesome seeing you guys and the progress 🎉
Thank you! Can’t wait to show more!!
Not too mention the joy of creating something from log to finished product, and learning new skills. ROI isn’t everything.
Couldn't Agree More!
I think if you enjoy what you do in your FREE time, it doesn’t matter the cost. If you’d rather be doing something else, that’s when the hourly rate comes into play.
I bought the same Metabo Miter saw about a year ago and it is a work horse for my little shop..
It was square right out of the box with no adjustment needed at all...
I hope you guys like it as much as I do..
Awesome to hear! Ours was fractionally out of square, but far better than previous saws we've had. We are looking forward to it not taking 4ft of space to use😁
First! Love your videos. Excited for this one after watching you mill and joint logs.
Thank you so much! We are SO excited to USE the lumber we mill ourselves!
Speaking of your older video's, "They Said We'd Fail" came up on my Home Screen yesterday and I watched it again. Was just wondering what Dylan's collage counselor would think of you guys today. I think you should mail him some of your video's.
Don’t think he’s even worth it lol
Great video!!
Thank you!
Yay!
🤗🤗
Your clip of your video is being used on fb market place in a scam ad where they are trying to sell a double Murphy bed. They use a clip of you putting the bed up, along with other photos of different bed styles. Not sure if you can do anything, but if it’s helps you to know I thought I would share.
You didn’t specify what type of lumber or logs that you got but, when you said $1.00 per board foot, I was wondering what limber sells for in your area. I’m looking at 104 board feet of dried poplar at $5.57/bft. Also, I’m glad your seeing your dream at such a young age and you should be very proud of that.
they are pine logs and they sell for $1.00 - $2 per BF when they are rough cut and wet.
Could you get another shipping container and turn it into a lumber kiln dryer?
We have plans on building one😁
I’ve been looking into getting that same miter saw for a few months. I’ve had the 10 inch version for 2 years and had a bad kickback that messed up the motor in it. I’m trying decide between the 12 inch metabo versus makita equivalent. I’d love to hear y’all’s opinion on the saw?
Love it so far, although the laser is pointless. Definitely get that 12”. We’ve only used it for this project and not a ton, so excited to keep on using it!
That was cool to see you and your dad working together. He looks like a bad@$$
I'll be reminded of this comment for a long time I'm sure😂
@@Woodbrew 😂😂
how are you going to dry the wood?
Planning on building a kiln! Not sure what kind just yet

Since you are serious about this logging, suggest you view videos on YT of “George Wood of Texas”. He has been logging and sawmilling for years and you might pick up a few tips. You will be jealous of his trailer.
We will have to check it out! Thanks👍
Check out Matt Cremona’s UA-cam channel. He has a mill that will cut 11’ logs, and saw at least 40” diameter. When he does his cuts he will put water on it can talk about what the grain is doing in the logs.
So, is milling the logs make sense money wise? Well, your labor is worth money. But, your labor is saving you from giving cash to someone else to mill the wood. In these videos, you have some surfaces poplar and rough cut. You milled the rough cut, and saved the outlay of cash to the vendor. Yes, you are putting in labor, but saving the outlay of cash.
Just remember to keep some weekends for the two of you. As time can go by fast.
I enjoy your show(s), keep them coming. You are doing what I wish I could.
😃👍🏻👍🏻👊🏻👊🏻
Getting free lumber and learning how to best mill it is a cheap education.
Amen!
