Thank you so much for this. Greeks achieved the first victory against the Axis on European soil. Repelled the Italian attack, pushed them back and start liberating the whole southern Albania. That forced the Germans to delay their attack on the Russians and come to the aid of the Italians to help them conquer Greece, saving valuable time for Russia to prepare
Hi there buddy, you have a great collection! As for the Greek uniforms of 1940 - 1941 are from extremely rare to impossible to find. The vast majority of the uniforms were incinerated upon the soldiers' return to home, as they were infested with louse. Louse was a major problem for the soldiers at the front. @ 井戸 Tさん Yamato lives on!
trepolinic hi thank you very much for the compliments my collection has grown tremendously since I posted this video. I'm gonna be making a new video shortly.
Can't wait to see your new videos! Unfortunately my granpa's uniform was very worn out when he came back from the front. Don't know what happened to it, as for my uncles they had to burn theirs and so did their camarades. The only original pieces that I came across were exhibits in the Πολεμικό μουσείο in Athens.
hello greeting from greece. a notable incident was hapend during WWII, a old greek destroyer build in 1912 named Aetos (Eagle) was heading to india for some modernisation, ading A/A guns antisubmarine devices and antimagnetic device. wile traveling in the indian ocean, the sentinels on duty spoted an array of torpedoes heading twards them obviusly from a submarine! the commander tumpas (also commander later the adrias destroyer ship) order evasing manouvers, the torpedoes missed and the ship started droping depth charges and making antisubmarine manouvres trying to spot the submarine with hydrophones, but in vain, the submarine was just playing dead. since no sonar was available after some hunting the destroyer resume its course to india. i guess you guessed by now that the submarine was japanese! its the only documented incident were a japanese and a greek ship exchange fire in anger in history! it would be great if could find out what japanese submarine was on patrol on the area that date! the date was 8/12/1941 between Mandras and Calcutta

@@billaire1 One last question, if you don't mind. Those Y straps. They're WW1 French correct? Looked everywhere for Greek y straps and the closest looking one based on yours and pictures are the WW1 French. Yes? no?
bil do you check if the pouches can hold 5 clips each for a total of 150 rounds? i was in the impresion that only 3 clips were for a total of90 rounds, but i must admit that in 1912 on the original mannlicher 3 large pouches in the book of a soldier "Aristos peridis, sta kanonia mas", he says one time they got 150 rounds, but i wasnt sure if all those were hold inside the pouches or some on their pack.

But seriously, if a starving lot of african actually drove them off even before ww2 really kicked in, one has to wonder how much of a threat these guys are. am think about reenacting Greece ww2. This is an infantry uniform right ? can anyone tell me if our infantry units used only rifles or machine guns like the Thompson are also possible to use? and where I can find a good gun replica? thank you :)
the scarecrow Hello to answer your question the Greek army infantry only had bolt action rifle‘s during the Greco Italian war of 1940-41 and later German invasion. The only time we have any information on SMG’s is during the fortress defense of the Metaxa line in April 1941. Greek army possessed from British aid the Thompson M 1928. Moreover the only replicas I know of is produced from the Greek army reenacting team 1940 in Athens Greece you can find them on Facebook. However if you want a replica you can usually find something in the airSoft industry such as the PPS M24 Chinese mauser Chiang Kai Shek rifle for gas bold action rifle which simulates the Greek contract FN 30 Mauser
billaire1 I ask because in the wiki at least I noticed that we also got the Thompson m1a1 and the mountain units (and the sacred squadron as shown in some pictures the m3 grease gun) there was also mention of British weapons like Lee Enfields and stens but if am not mistaken they were British supplies to the Greek resistance and not the actual army right ?
the scarecrow The weapons you are talking about were supplied & issued after 1941 when the defeated Greek army was re-equipped to fight alongside the British from 1941 until 1944. After, these weapons were used in the Greek Civil War up until 1949 and then the Americans began supplying the Greeks late 40s early 50s
