This is an extremely rare example of a complete all matching FN 30 Mauser "Greek contract" H block (70,000th series) one of the very last examples made. These rifles were scheduled to replace the Greek Mannlicher 1903's. Unfortunately due to the outbreak of WW2 and Italian invasion of Oct 28 1940, approximately 50,000 units are presumed to have been delivered. However according to Anthony Vande...

They must have made at least 11000 of them as mine is serial numbered 11014. The stock is from another in the 9000 range. Sadly, it's very well worn except for the barrel which is bright and shiny. Carried a lot, but not shot much. I imagine these were just support troop weapons.
Why do these models have grey paint on receiver and barrel? Not all over, just certain parts, like trigger guard, etc. Anybody know?
I found one of these with 'Mannlicher Schoenauer 1930 System' on the side of receiver, there's no stamp on the top of the receiver ring where the barrel threads into. Would this rifle be the same one you have in your video?
Excellent rifle and condition. My relatives for against the Italians and later the Germans and were part of the retreat to Crete.
Very nice. Do you also have a Mannlicher-Schoenauer rifle?
My boss said he had a couple old rifles he wanted me to check out. Brought them to work and what I saw was an FN 30 Mauser all numbers matching with a cracked stock but beautiful bore and fully functional. In addition to that, a 1916 Norwegian Krag carbine chambered in 6.5x55 but had sadly been sporterized. Such a shame, hoping to make a deal on both of them as well as a beautiful 7.7 Arisaka with bayonet he has
Not prime minister, dictator...he was a dictator.

What round dies it use. What would a rifle like this be worth in excellent condition ?
THOSE FOUGHT IN THE HANDS OF GREEKS FROM 1905 TO 1950 , ALMOST NON STOP.
It may be time for you to publish a book!
Had no idea this rifle even existed!
Beautiful examples of Greek artifacts:)
I have one of this guns and I want to restore it do you now where I can find some parts like the firing mechanism;;
I've got one. It's finnicky with surplus ammo unfortunately. I changed the spring but no luck.
My grandpa who I was named after, fought against Italian in 1940, with this type of gun. According his telling was very reliable and trustworthy rifle.
I have a Greek FN Mod 24, with nonroyal stamp, flag like today. Nice rifle.
good thing you can own some historic firearms from the greek state since the gun law in greece are utterly strick and all those guns would have go for scrap according to greek law
excellent!!!

Would you trade it for another surplus gun ?

I would love to get one of these. My grandfather served in combat from 1915 to 1922 in the Greco Turkish wars and my other grandfather saw action in northern Greece when the Italians invaded. Any idea where I can find one?
Gunbroker.com has some now and then
Thanks for enabling my addiction
Hey again. I had deleted my comment because I learned a little more info leading me to believe it is not Greek. But I’m still not 100% sure because I can’t narrow down who else would have cut it down. The Berthier I am looking at is similar to yours in that it has a Long rear sight and a straight bolt, and it has a short barrel however it has a top hand guard and no markings on the stock like yours. It has a polish acceptance mark on the buttplate however, so I believe it was a rifle given to Poland post-WWI, but it’s receiver has been scrubbed. I’ve read it’s possibly one that Poland then sent to Spain but I have no way to know for sure.
Oh if it has a Polish stamps and it’s definitely Polish
Are you still collecting? I have somehting you might appreciate.
Sure I sent you an email but you never responded
Ok still haven’t heard from you.... I guess it’s no longer an option...
@@billaire1 Sorry, I had some stuff going on. I'll email you.
LOL my Unicorn arrives this Friday....not all matching but still pretty awesome.
How much is one worth?
The greek one is very expensive
How much is one worth?
Depends on the condition between $500-2000+
Do you own the bayonet of this gun?
Yes it has its bayonet as well It is a Alex Coppel make
Fortunate enough to have a very good example of one of these rare pieces of history. Anyone know where to find the modified Lebel bayonet for it?
Those are as rare as hens teeth
Why didn't any replace the magazine system to that of a Mauser double stack system.
How does it shoot?
let me express some objection on the description above According to oficial documents at 24/1/168 during Moraitinis administration and at 11/11/1868 during Voulgaris administration they were two contracts whith the Manoufacture des armes St.Etienne, for the total of 50.000 chassepot rifles whith their bayonets (inclouding a small amound of cavalry and artillery carbines) for the total price of 3.200.000 drachmas. The rifles were delivered regularly during 1869. The shown example in the video has nothing to do whith the greek contract, is production for civilians probably belgian. All the greek contac trifles are marked whith the St.Etienne carotuche and have regular inspection and serial numbers
Hello Nikos , how would you explain this very same rifle with the same crest cartouche being used as an example of the Greek type in Sazanidis book Τα όπλα των ελλήνων “Arms of the Hellenes”
Are you going to make a demonstration video with these beauties?
during the filming of a series I had the chance to wield both a mannlicher and steyr carbine, as a shot guy I got to say the carbine was a lot more comfortable. By the way, do you have any suggested places I could look for stuff regarding the Greek rifles? I am specifically looking for used or deactivated cartriges and clips but googles isn't very helpful :/
Brand ns02 not ok?
