My Great Uncle Harry was a champion tall tale man in Michigan back in the day. He would have LOVED this! Excellent story telling. Just what Dime Store Adventures is known for. 🥰
I used to read tall tales from 1800s newspapers to my boys for bedtime stories. Their favorites were the guy who was chased by a pack of wolves on a frozen river and he escaped on ice skates and the guy who went buffalo hunting and got thrown into the air by his horse and still managed to shoot the buffalo while in mid air. 😂 Also, if anyone likes this sort of thing, look up Bill Nye (the humorist, not the science guy). He wrote some great short stories and articles. The story about train riding etiquette is hilarious!
I can confirm the story about the South Carolina mosquitos. As South Carolina's stare bird, you can imagine the mosquitos are quite impressive. You're never really prepared for when a mosquito asks you for a cigarette after draining you of half your blood
This was awesome, please do more! This reminded me of the stories my first nations indigenous grandmother would tell me growing up like How the turtle cracked its back, I think there was one where an opossum or rabbit took a coyote's ears and made them into spoons, one with a persimmon tree that is pretty gruesome but fun, etc. 💜
I really like your story telling! I appreciate that you get straight to the point, you've done the historical research and your storytelling is well thought out. Greetings from New South Wales :)
You should do a video on Mary Munroe Sanderson (1748-1852) from Lexington MA. She not only lived to be 104 years old, she is also one of the earliest born people to ever be photographed.
I like to watch your videos when I'm making models or painting stuff. Your video quality is so consistent, and clearly requires so much effort, passion, and love. It really delights me to see someone so expressive and excited about this kind of thing. You're truly a gem, and I hope people never stop telling ya that.
Dude, no way!!! I was just watching your videos literal minutes ago, and now I get another upload from my favorite youtuber?! Thanks for your upload dude! Just watched your 5 min vid on the hunt for the weirdest Newspaper advertisement. I'd love more of that!
I remember hearing bizarre stories like this, I haven't thought about this in ages though. I think it was my great grandpa? He was born in 1919 and I remember hearing the stories, weird stories, probably in 1995ish? This is such a weird feeling, I completely forgot about all of this. I remember I think looking at other family members like, what the hell is this, am I supposed to believe this? And everyone was all about it and I believed it. I always liked the movie Big fish and I wonder if that's part of why. Thank you for helping me access such treasured memories that I might have died without being able to enjoy again.
I'm sure you get alot of the same comments but just wanna say this is by far the best channel I've found this year..... well researched well put together you remind me of if Joe Scott and Indiana Jones had a youtube channel in New England
The, “he’s not blind, is he?” is a reference to another New England tall-tale that I’ll tell you if we meet some time (not unlikely, we roll in similar necks of the woods).
I sincerely hope that Dee made it home. You don’t run across a dog like that everyday. If you’d had him at that Kalamazoo hotel, he could have run on the ceiling and chased those bedbugs away.
crazy weekend you had dude. real note though, i love your videos! i was just telling a friend about you earlier today and i just found out you had posted! Your channel is what i love about history. Thanks for posting!
This was so great, the best, weirdest, and funniest video ever!! You are literally a MASTER of your craft 🥰 How you come up with this, I will never understand 😂 I appreciate you 🥳🥳
Happens to me all the time, the local no kill shelter, they seen me comin', and they're all like here comes 'ol half dog Alfred fixin' to get hisself a doe. Never did sew one front to back backwards (or back to front frontwards for that matter) but once did side to side, Lovlely dog and even tempered but she was sadly killed when my ass hole neighbor left some chocolate out for easter one year.
Joking aside, I love your videos. As,a mostly lifelong backwoods Connecticutian, it's nice to be represented on the interwebs by someone as eloquent as you,
Love your videos but I just noticed you're doing folk tales right when got to 66.6k subscribers. Is the next video going to involve you going to the crossroads at midnight? I guess that's one way to get a million subs.
Aw dude please tell me these ain't true or nothing because I was gonna go to sleep and right before I was about to sleep I heard "cut the dog clean in half" and that put a grotesque picture in my mind, I definitely ain't sleeping now 😅
Your a great speaker i went and watched another channel after this and it annoyed me how much he dragged out a 20 min story with bullshit up to 50 mins.

Also from MI would love some of this of the Midwest
Can't imagine the bother of filming this with the campfire, but such little details are where the magic is! Thanks as always.
It’s so cool
It took me a minute to realize what was going on. “There’s no way, this story is bullshit” 😂😂😂
It takes a certain kind of imagination to take an old tale and make it feel new - thoroughly enjoyed.
I live in Kalamazoo and had bed bugs about ten years ago. That wasn't a folk tale, it was the truth!
I got bit by bed bugs down in Saltillo Mexico back in the day when I was roaming the continent, and sowing my oats, as they say.
Lost but, because of you, they are spread further than the original creators could have ever imagined.

I'm going to have a rough week ahead so I'm saving this for later to cheer me up, but not without commenting for the youtube algorithm gods first ❤️🔥
Hang in there, friend. I hope this week is unexpectedly pleasant.
I can confirm the story about the South Carolina mosquitos. As South Carolina's stare bird, you can imagine the mosquitos are quite impressive. You're never really prepared for when a mosquito asks you for a cigarette after draining you of half your blood
What part of SC are you from?

'Dude, Where's my Car?' 1957 style. Loved it.
Popcorn, soda, and candy are ready for the show!!
Man, these are what the channel is for!
I really like your story telling! I appreciate that you get straight to the point, you've done the historical research and your storytelling is well thought out. Greetings from New South Wales :)
This has fast become one of my favourite UA-cam channels. You're a great storyteller, dude.
That was great! Like early 1900’s stand-up, but sitting down… 😂
Once again, you are truly nuts. But I love it. Please keep this stuff coming.
You should do a video on Mary Munroe Sanderson (1748-1852) from Lexington MA. She not only lived to be 104 years old, she is also one of the earliest born people to ever be photographed.
I done watched this half a dozen times just to keep up. Great tales I'm taking to camp for the kids
What wonderful fantasy landscape old America must have been

that first story about the dog! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Crazy what you've been through lately. I hope stuff calms down for you a bit.
I laughed so hard at "he just don't give a damn"
Thanks for keeping stories like this alive ❤
I'm sure you get alot of the same comments but just wanna say this is by far the best channel I've found this year..... well researched well put together you remind me of if Joe Scott and Indiana Jones had a youtube channel in New England
Thank you for sharing this esoteric history, and for the way you present it.
You’re such a wonderful person. Thank you for doing what you do
The, “he’s not blind, is he?” is a reference to another New England tall-tale that I’ll tell you if we meet some time (not unlikely, we roll in similar necks of the woods).
This is the best channel ever
absolutely LOVE that intro, excellent way to start of and lay the setting for the video
You sir are an engaging storyteller, had me chuckling, I ran into this channel a couple months back and have loved every moment. Very enjoyable!
I sincerely hope that Dee made it home. You don’t run across a dog like that everyday. If you’d had him at that Kalamazoo hotel, he could have run on the ceiling and chased those bedbugs away.
Dude I really think your channel is both unique and amazing. Thanks for your hard work.

Captivating storytelling!
This was superb. I enjoyed every moment of it.
I absolutely LOVED this video and would adore seeing more like it
Thought the friend flying bit was gonna be a set up for something like he did fly around but then flew into the wrong window
Thank you for the stories! Your research into these tales is much appreciated. Kept me company while I got some stuff done today.

From your description, and from my own personal experiences, I'm pretty sure that horse was also a drummer. 😂
It reminds me of Mr Edwards from Little House on the Prairie. ❤
This video is was so incredibly entertaining, did you do this all in one take!?
Love your videos but I just noticed you're doing folk tales right when got to 66.6k subscribers. Is the next video going to involve you going to the crossroads at midnight? I guess that's one way to get a million subs.
I remember hearing the one about the dog at the start before
