    I wish they would add a booklet into then because it seems a bit basic with just a disc in a case.

      You're definitely not the first person to suggest it, Luke. Maybe when they've established themselves a bit, they might dip into booklets. Thanks for watching!

      I think it adds a lot to the expense for this to happen so I'm hoping they will add them eventually once they see if the series takes off and they become confident they are established as a known and regular boutique Blu ray label

    Another top notch video from you Elliott as usual. Love this channel! And loving that our new Australian label is making some waves OS and getting noticed. Agree their transfers are not yet as consistent as some other boutique labels but if memory serves from things I've watched/read elsewhere you are correct and these are all provided to them and unlike some other well established boutique labels they do not do their own restoration work. Still there are some great films in this series and they still look fantastic and I'm shortly going to pre-order the next (December) wave ... Fire In The Sky and Year of the Dragon are part of that wave and I'm really looking forward to those. Keep up the great work BB!

    I’ve been absolutely loving Imprints releases, particularly as an Aussie who imports over half my collection. Words cannot describe how keen I am for Fire in the Sky on bluray.

      Yes the next December wave looks really good. Camino's Year of the Dragon is one of my guilty pleasure films and I'm glad I can finally own a prestige physical copy. I hope they do the transfer justice. Aussie here as well so share your joy in having a local label as it gets expensive importing everything from the USA and UK.

      @@darrenblizzard3851 woo Aussie 💪 yeah I picked up Year of the Dragon and At Close Range. Might pick up the other two a bit closer to release but they didn’t jump out at me as much as those three.

    I have ordered Hard Eight and A Place in the Sun but probably because of COVID delivery (to The Netherlands) takes forever. Imprint are a very nice label but if you live in Europe you need to learn patience if you want to order from them.

    Another great George Stevens classic. I love A Place In The Sun. Meant to pick this up but should've done it earlier as the price has gone up where I usually buy my imports & they weren't cheap in the first place. I hear mind it A Place In The Sun is slated for release through the Paramount Presents line early next year so I'll likely just wait until then.

    When Worlds Collide is a classic. George Pal is underserved. He has made a lot of great sci-fi. Of course he also did War of the Worlds. A Place in the Sun is also a classic with Montgomery Clift and Elizabeth Taylor.

    • @ElliotCoen

      George Pal definitely doesn't get mentioned enough. Thanks for watching, John!

      Yes Pal's The Time Machine adaptation from the 60s is one of my favorites films of all time and a staple of my childhood. It fills me with nostalgia everytime I see it. Fitting I think that a time travel film in itself is actually a time capsule back to another period in time, not just when it was made but also the late 70s/early 80s period that I grew up watching it!

    Hi Elliot,
    Not directly related, but just watched the Dutch road rage thriller Tailgate and think that you might enjoy it. Think Duel and The Hitcher and you’ll be in the right ball park.

    The third series has just hit here in Australia. I picked up Day of the Locust and Hard Eight (a long time favourite). May also get Major Dundee and the Film Noir Collection. The transfer on Hard Eight was terrific. Yet to give Locust a spin.

      I do rather like Day of the Locust despite the tendency to be depressing as all get out.

    • @darrenblizzard3851
      @darrenblizzard3851 3 роки тому +1

      I pre-ordered the whole wave and have the lot of them and I can tell you the Major Dundee box set is amazing and well worth getting. I have the Twilight Time release and it's essentially the same bar some minor differences but the box set packaging is far, far nicer than the boring Twilight Time release. The Bob Hope and Noir sets are also fantastic as is their TV show Imprint release of Hammer Horror. Fantastic label so far though like many others I hope they eventually start to add booklets.

    You must have made it in the world or a big man on UA-cam since a boutique blu-ray company is sending you movies all the way from Australia.
    Is “no way to treat a lady” anything like “the Boston strangler” with Tony Curtis and Henry Fonda?

    • @WolfGratz
      @WolfGratz 3 роки тому

      Much more comic input in the former. Curtis, Fonda and Fleischer are all straight up. Fleisher is of course also trying out the split screen approach which though it may not always work is at least interesting. I sort of enjoy the Steiger vehicle. and it does rely on Steiger a lot good though the other two are. But I'm not sure it has worn that well on further aquaintance. I'm glad to finally get a copy but I liked it much more the first time round.

      @@WolfGratz thank you very much for the information. Kind of surprised that there were two movies with similar stories released in the same year. Reminds me of “white house down” and “Olympus has fallen” which were released around the same time. Yep - The Carpetbaggers is not a good film which isn't amazing cos the original novel was also dodgy. Actually the spin off western Nevada Smith is more interesting Imho. I really liked A Place in the Sun though.

    Really wonder why companies with 4k scans don't release 4k discs?
    When Worlds Collide would be a must buy

    • @1977Suspiria
      @1977Suspiria 3 роки тому +1

      Supply & demand I'd imagine. Catalogue titles are not huge sellers & a lot more people own BluRay players than 4k players. The amount of people that A) would want the titles & then B) have 4k players doesn't make it worth it. At least they are scanning all these movies in 4k though so it can easily become a possibility somewhere down the line.

    Here's what's NOT brilliant about IMPRINT. Their ridiculous limited runs, which sell out so fast that most people wouldn't even have a chance to get these, if they even knew about their release. Now only a month after this video, When Worlds Collide is selling for over $100.00 on Ebay and unavailable on Amazon - a MONTH after it's release!. If someone wants to get their hands on a copy the price from 3rd party sellers is completely unreasonable. Now I understand the point of doing limited runs and a company not wanting to be saddled with overstock in these days of declining interest in physical media. But IMPRINT is taking it too far and fucking over a whole bunch of fans/collectors, forcing them to give in to the opportunists who go buy up the stock and then over-inflate the price on EBAY, or do without. Worse yet IMPRINT is sending free batches of these reissues to a handfull of popular youtubers like yourself who dutifully create these videos praising this company, when actually most of your watchers would love to have access to these Blurays but never will. I am disappointed Elliot that your excitement over getting a box of free stuff over-rides your commitment to your viewers. Nuff said.

    • @ElliotCoen
      @ElliotCoen  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Keith. FYI Imprint are rereleasing everything in a standard version, simply without the limited edition slipcase. I believe wave 1 is being reprinted very soon, so no one will miss out on the movies in the long run. As for these videos I do, I'm not obliged to make them for Imprint nor do I give them praise for everything. I talk about how these could be much better if they did restorations of the movies, included booklets, added more special features etc. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

      Kinda AGREE with ya mate.
      There's actually a hell of a lot of work goes into doing a Channel and Not until u get into the hundreds of thousands that is worth while from a financial point.
      Most do it for the love of topic.
      I'm still confused WTF Is a
      Boutique blu ray ??!? Seems to be anything in a clear case no matter what Cost or presentation !.
      Example " masters of cinema/ Eureka" are mentioned as boutique.
      I own some, but are just
      Standard Blu-ray most are in a clear case a small booklet and a DVD ??! Who needs a DVD in 2021, still they are only around £10 so hardly " boutique". " most arrow " films, always on sale, if not same RRP £14.99.
      I bought " The grifters " on
      101 label about £15 but nice slip , Big booklet great film so worth it.
      Is that a boutique release.
      BFI and Indicator are only 10-15 quid ?
      Second sight do quality releases esp the brilliant " take shelter",
      YES criterion ARE the leaders esp in rerelease/ re- masters.
      BUT generally in the UK we Don't get a great region B selection .
      ( NOTE TO ELLIOT ) most of us Don't have multi region or a 2nd player
      IMHO ( Imprint ) VERY OVER PRICED , I l got place in the sun BUT when it came today £34 for the film is equal to two criterion..
      Love Terry Malick I'd give my right arm for region B days of heaven.
      Yep for me criterion do the best release & transfer but few for me I region B.
      £34 for place in the sun IS expensive !!!
      IMHO most " boutique blu rays are just normal priced films in clear boxes & Imprint should be normal RRP £15 maybe £18
