Dead Heat on a merry go round has I believe Harrison Ford's first walk on bit part ( 30 seconds?) as a bell hop calling out "phone call for..."
Yep, that's the one! Any time most people mention Dead Heat on a Merry Go Round, that's all they talk about. The movie itself is a a little bit forgettable, but Coburn is always worth watching and I think Camilla Sparv is drop dead gorgeous.
I managed a local theater that played Red Rock West, so I marinated in that one for months. Can't wait to pick up this release!
Awesome haul got everything there except for the FP Collection and Monkey Shines. Bought them from JB Hifi so no collectors edition for the non Imprint films. This was a very expensive month. Happy new years to everyone.

Hey, Heath. Top O' the morning to ya'! Thanks for covering this stuff. Some great, great titles in this bunch. I've ordered both of the Adventure sets from Orbit. Yeah, you're right about Fred McMurray-- he really could do everything-- well, I don't know about "singing n dancing" stuff, but don't forget about comedy. Man! One of my all-time favorite comedies from the 40s, Murder, He Says, has Fred, and I absolutely love this hilarious film!!

I just got the Tales of Adventure Volume 2 set! I watched Sahara and it was pretty good. It has some issues, but the wildlife and location footage is pretty gorgeous. I honestly liked the switch up from the desert themed stories of Volume 1 to the jungle based stories in Volume 2.
This is a set (like the first volume) where my husband and I will be having a long day and have like 1.5 hrs tops to watch a movie before bed and he'll just go, "Pick an Adventure movie" and we'll just grab one and be entertained for the night no matter which one we grab.
I was never brought up to like movies like this, or westerns or other genre movies. My mom would say they're boring and put on Star Wars or a Disney movie for me, something like Robin Hood or Homeward Bound (not complaining, those are great too!) I am having a blast now in my adult years going back and watching all the stuff I didn't know existed. It's a hoot.

Thanks for the video! I pre-ordered the Tales of Adventure set and The Man in Half Moon Street and they arrived a week or so ago.
I bought an Umbrella import of the Ozploitation movie on Blu-Ray “The Man From Hong Kong” and I’ve never seen a disk so packed with extras.
Plus the theme song does get stuck in your head. What a fun cheesy movie that one is. One of my George Lazenby must watch trilogy movies along with Who Saw Her Die and OHMSS.

21:50 Big Cinema has lots of rules about classification! Ha ha. Genres always have outliers. Genres are guidelines not hardfast rules.

My wife and I enjoyed Australian LEGO Masters more than American LEGO Masters. I have Sammy J and Randy in Ricketts Lane currently being shipped over because we loved it too. We liked Australian Willfred much more than the American version. Overall, I'd like to watch more Australian media.

Really looking forward to the videos that come out of your Gene Autry deep dive. About a decade ago, I did a deep dive into all the "matinee Western stars" of the 30-50s, watching over 500 films. I quickly saw why Gene Autry regularly topped polls as the top Western Star. But I still cannot decide which period is my favorite, the pre-war Republic era, or his post-war work at Columbia. And the periods are quite different: Most of his Republic westerns are set in the present (so they have airplanes, cars, etc.), and have a brisker, livelier pace. While his Columbia westerns are mostly set in the classic Western period, and have a bit of a harder, more rugged feel. But they're all a lot of fun.
Question: do you remember the details of those 500 B-westerns? This time last year, I watched a few dozen B-westerns starring Buck Jones, Tex Ritter, Charles Starrett, Wild Bill Elliott, and even Don "Red" Barry, but they've all sort of blended together in my brain because they're so similar. All that really stands out now is the star of the movie.
@@CerealAtMidnight They are a bit like television episodes. So, I tend to remember moments more than whole films.
Heath I worked in a Blockbuster in the 90:s, I loved weird and obscure movies were got in, they were my favorites .

The Umbrella Entertainment CEREAL 15 seemed to not take after checkout, notified them via email shortly there after with no reply. Purchased Lord of Illusions and Monkey Shines Boxset, with a copy of Them. I would have thought being a first time buyer at Umbrella Entertainment would have resulted in at least reply or at the very best made it right promptly. However, no communication or status of order 5 days later, seems like a Shout Factory flashback.
Hopefully, Umbrella Entertainment will make things right.......
Also placed a first order with Vinegar Syndrome, and order was shipped the following day.
Heath you are fortunate to add more value than just telling us if a movie looks or sounds good. I think 2024 going forward is going to be a difficult time to review discs. Why? Easily over 90% of movies coming out now look and sound great. We are sitting here only wondering if something is going to be a good, great, or outstanding visual/sonic experience. So the only real review with value, in terms of reviewing quality, is letting viewers know if a release is subpar or just bad (i.e. T2, American Graffiti). Again, that is 10% of discs or less. Notice the number of stars given to quality ratings at High-Def Digest in the last two years. It is 4. 4.5 or 5 for almost everything.
As for reviewing the movie itself, that will always have value, but when reviewing quality, today and going forward we are really talking around the edges. Reviewers I think will have to talk about something else than just quality. Like you do sir.

Always enjoy these updates. fwiw, Eddie Mueller is pretty loose about what is and isn't noir. He uses the term "noir adjacent" a lot. He's not as anal as the people that write in to you that a film isn't "noir".
You're right. The people who take me to task about the boundaries of noir probably think they know more about it than Eddie Muller. I'm not sure they realize how pretentious they're being.
