My paternal grandmother was apart of the Stolen Generation. At a young age she was taken from her home & sent away to become more civilized. (or White). Our family are of a lighter skin tone. The government would round up the "lighter skin-toned Aboriginal people", because they apparently would assimilate into "Western Culture" better. Not all Aboriginal mobs play the didgeridoo, it is considered bad juju or karma for women to play. Also some mobs were forbidden to play one. Like the Native American's, Aboriginal mobs have a deep connection to the land & have sacred sites, some of which are men only & some are women only. Some sites are 50k old.

The diversity in your reviews on all things Australian is awesome. I’m learning stuff too! Ps. I live 10 mins from Botany Bay. Which is where the first fleet landed in Sydney. The First Nations people owned it exclusively for 40,000 years before that of course so I’d never say it’s the birthplace of Australia.. but Australia as we know it today.

Yes, they volunteered in both wars. Many nations did. The draft was for the Vietnam War.

Until 1782, English convicts were transported to America. However, in 1783 the American War of Independence ended. America refused to accept any more convicts so England had to find somewhere else to send their prisoners. Transportation to Australia began thanks USA. Peace out.

Many people don't realise that George Town, Tasmania is the second oldest European colony in Australia. My family is part aboriginal.

In a single Japanese attack in Darwin, they dropped more bombs than Pearl Harbour and we don't need a movie to remember either.

Not so close to Japan, but you have to remember that Japan rapidly invaded and conquered many areas of south-east Asia giving it air bases further south from which to stage bombing raids over Australia.

Melbourne was not founded as a penal colony either
The White Australia Policy was not a formal law but the application of existing laws such as the language test. To enter Australia they might apply a test to see if you were educated enough... which sounds okay but they would give the test in ANY European language
Egon Kisch , a man who knew Czech, French, German, Russian and English was given the test in Scots-Gaelic.
His defence was to prove that Scots-Gaelic was NOT a European langguage
The US had similar laws restricting Chinese migration. In 1882 Congress passed the Chinese Exclusion Act

Yes, Didgeridoo, you pronounced that correctly. I believe woman do play it now, but it is/was a a sacred instrument and was only played by men.
They did volunteer for WW1, there wasn't a draft.

The difference in Australia to the US regarding the "Wild West" scenario was that Britain would never accept a state of lawlessness in any of its territories and while stuff still happened, there would be a reaction in terms of policing or military action. Britain always tried to build society based upon strong institutions, infrastructure, religious values, high standards of morality and the enforcement of the law. We still had the odd bushranger, just as the UK had highwaymen, however all of these guys were hunted down and killed fairly quickly as they started to make a name for themselves. The Wild West in the US was a lot more rowdy, with fewer rules and organised law enforcement. The people enforcing the law there didn't wear uniforms or belong to an organised police force and they were anchored in a particular town or area, which meant at times they were outnumbered and society then had to turn to bounty hunters to reign in the criminals. On top of that, the general public in the US had early and ubiquitous access to quality revolvers that could be loaded and fired more rapidly, and it became more necessary for everyone to own one. Not as many people in Australia felt as though they needed to take protection into their own hands, as they had more faith in government, police and the army to dispense timely justice. This is probaly why despite the similarities, the US still has a bit of a Wild West mentality and gun culture and Australia doesn't.

look up Cyclone Tracy, it virtually wiped out Darwin ( the capital of the northern territory) on Christmas Day in 1974.

Strange how they didn't mention that Indigenous Australians had been here for at least 65 thousand years. The oldest living civilisation on earth. No real recognition in this video. All about the last 200 years since the Europeans landed.

Yet somehow, my Great Grandma managed to immgrate with her husband and kids from Finland during WWI. Even though she was a Russian of Mongolian and Chinese decent. My Great Grandpa was a blue-eyed blonde Finn. My guess is that all they noticed was that she was Russian. Hence, despite White Australia being in full swing, she still managed to immgrate with the rest of her family.

If you want you can make an imitation Didgardoo, go to your local hardware & get a 4 or 5 foot length of PVC pipe about a 2" or 2 1/2" diameter. Melt some wax onto one end, shaping the wax to get a good seal around your mouth.
The hardest part of playing a Didgeridoo is the breathing, you have to inhale through the nose, exhaileing through the mouth (it's called bellows breath) while vibrating your lips. With practice you should do ok.😊

And sadly nobody talks about the frontier wars or teaches it in school, nobody wants to talk about the rape, murder and land disposition of the indigenous people by the British.

  • @gregoryTredwell
    @gregoryTredwell 8 місяців тому +1

The frontier wars is BS only in Tasmania did the settler, police and military went ballistic against the aboriginals, sickness to local aboriginal is true. Most conflicts between aboriginal and settlers were small time conflicts but they did happen all over Australia, most of the aboriginal culture is made up or hijacked from other indigenous cultures, except a few tribes in the northern parts of Australia. As proven from convicts that escaped and lived with the aboriginals, and wrote about it. We definitely had a wild west for around 50 years in Australia. What was not said that half cast children and babies killed, eaten or left for dead in the desert, because the male aboriginals didn't like the fact that their women were sleeping with with men outside of the tribe, and the baby was not a full blood aboriginal, so church and state tried to say these children, but when to far and for to long instead of fixing the problem by passing laws then educating the aboriginals to stop the from killing, or eating or leaving them to die in the wildness. This is truly a shameful part of our history, but tell the truth. The line that they were trying to breed the aboriginal out of them is a movie line out of "Rabbit Fence" and has been used time and again from aboriginal activist as depicted in the screen you are watching, Again this immigration info is correct but it had nothing to do with white Australia Policy, that is were the immigrants were coming from, another false narrative. Australian also sent troops to the Boer War in South Africa in the late 1800's. Please do not be misled by leftist narratives

Aboriginal residence covering thousands of years produced little progress from overtwo hundred tribal groups with many languages no known civilisation, no army no leader no flag no infrastructures to denote their presence making them vulnerable to any nation looking for more land like Dutch Spanish French but British came & in two & half centuries with European civilisation ade this country what ir is today Aboriginals lost the fight to retain their ways likened to fortunes of war This nation never declared war on anyone but was dragged into others wars where our Anzacs were treated as expendable due to British officers treating them as "colonials ' therefore expendables. Australia population 5 million WW1 & lost 60.000 of our young men WW2 lost 30.00 from population of 7 million but in latter part of WW@ we were fighting for our selves in Pacific Find Kokoda New Guinea Darwin bombing Malaysia campaign then Long tan stories Hardly touched the surface

  • @erroleabrown4317

Digerido you said properly? Yes it was only men allowed to play that at their dañces but now everyone plays them, probably not the aboriginal women they would respect that way still. Iv been a lot of places in Australia and there's always just one Aboriginal or one family of aboriginals, back when the slavewinds\tradewinds carried large wooden ships of old to Australia people from all countries were brought here as a holding yard long before people knew about the country and many of the native people here were wiped out then. The history is iced over so no one looks into it. It's frightening how many generations can be efflicked by such savage abuse as you would know with your people, the camps were set apon with guns and wiped out same as america and the treatment of the native people there.
