It's sad Dennis Hopper didn't like this movie, it's a fantastic performance from him.
Well at least he changed his mind about this movie being the worst in his career😅but yeah I love this movie too and he was fantastic in this
All while strung out on coke. 😂He is to TCM what Betsy Palmer is to Friday The 13th. Didn't give a shit about the movie but still held nothing back in their performance.
It's also the best thing I know him from considering this, Super Mario Bros., and Hell: A Cyberpunk Thriller are the only things I've seen him in
Dennis Hopper dueling chainsaws with Leatherface... Step aside Blue Velvet!
Lord of the harvest
I'm the Lord of the Harvest!!
Apparently he said this was his worst role...
Until he did the super Mario movie
Following up one of the scariest movies of all time with a crazy ass horror comedy was a huge flex by Tobe Hooper.
Well, according to Tobe the original was a very dark comedy(which I can see) but with how it was filmed and it’s low budget it doesn’t come off that way
He actually considered the first one a comedy and got really confused when everyone was screaming in terror and passing out in the theater, so he made the second one a more obvious comedy.
Well he didn’t even wanna make the movie canon wanted it so he took the piss which is a damn shame. With all the great sets and Tom savini he could’ve made an actual timeless horror film here but instead we got this shite that’s almost as bad as next generation.
@@ajscrewuthank you! Texas chainsaw massacre 2 is a terrible film. Hooper made a huge mistake when he went the black comedy route
The Snob is Family!....
Okay, hear me out here:
"Beyond the Valley of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is the *raddest fucking thing* I've ever heard of. Holy shit! Can you imagine?!
Someone needs to get started on writing that film.
If it had someone resembling Z-Man from Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, that would've been the greatest '80s slasher film ever
Make if a video game! Where you overtime turn into a badass that has to take on the grown and save innocent lives.
I love how Leatherface looks at the woman like "Sorry for my family. We aren't usually like this." Lol
Lmao i feel bad
Just a reminder the producers of this movie gave Dennis Hopper a live chainsaw to run around set with even though they knew he was doing coke and drinking at the time . the 80's were awesome.
So I was right he was on coke during this movie! Well, that year was great for him between this movie and Blue Velvet it was a great year!
The 80s was the horror decade. I hated this movie at first. But liked it more over the years.
Not to mention careless as fuck!
Dennis Hopper was Lord of the Harvest way before TCM2
Don't worry the coke canceled out the booze
Dennis Hopper as Lefty is so enjoyable to watch. knowing he's on cocaine and drink just makes some scenes even better like when he's shouting ' bring it all down' it's like he's trying to escape the movie and the lord of the harvest looked like he really lost it.
could be wrong but i think hopper got clean for good in 1983.
@@grahamgreene779 I Heard the opposite that he was so high he didn't remember making it.
Yeah he was sober for a bit at the time of filming this.
@@fiveways Ah well to be fair you can see why i would have thought that. that energy comes from something besides talent.
@@scottbuckley823 Robin Williams kept his coke energy style in his standup after he got clean following John Belushi's death.
Pros:
--It's a Cannon film.
--Dennis Hopper.
--Tom Savini's effects.
--Chop Top.
Cons:
--No Chuck Norris vs Leatherface.
--Tobe Hooper should've left in the "Die Yuppie Scum" scene.
--On a personal note, the guts coming out of the wall almost made me puke (To be fair, I was sleep-deprived and full of gas station burritos when I watched it).
Chuck Norris would take down Leatherface with a single roundhouse kick, the movie would only be 10 minutes long
This is a very funny movie. Dennis Hopper is hilarious in it.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!
Dennis Hopper, Lord of the Harvest.
Isnt that a health food bunch or something?
Did the chicken shit burrito man send ya!?
What happens when Dennis Hopper meets a chainsaw wielding serial killer?
I'm not sure, I'm still trying to figure out what he was doing in Super Mario Brothers....
In an interview, he said that "his son needed new shoes", to which his son replied "Dad, I didn't need shoes that badly."
Monkey...
I remember when this came out on VHS at the time, the rental store was giving out Texas Chainsaw Chili seasoning packets with a pamphlet showing the "Family Recipe"! It was really funny, saying to strain out the bones, and to add some beans, but not too many, because you have to save room for Lots Of Meat! The logo was priceless.
Wait a second...Leatherface's chainsaw is meant to represent a phallic symbol is this movie?
"That's a dick!"
The joke was right there, and Brad blew it.
A few years ago, I had a dream that I was directing a spinoff/prequel about Private Sawyer's tour of duty in Vietnam, complete with a youthful Bill Moseley and a fairly healthy budget. Needless to say, I was super disappointed when I woke up.
That is an awesome dream.
@@Sand-Walker13
I thought about writing it up, but no way in hell I could ever get financing. . . or young Bill Moseley.
@@SewerTapes I'd honestly like to see it written out as a script. I'd read the heck out of it.
14:33-14:41 OMG I CAN'T STOP LAUGHING! 🤣🤣🤣
"Yup... it's Franklin."
It's been over 30 years, still the best TCM sequel.
Never drink anything while watching one of Brads Videos cause you’re almost guaranteed to spit you’re drink out in laughter
I cannot believe with the great soundtrack in this movie they didn't include the Jackyl song "The Lumberjack". That the song came out 6 years after this movie was released is no excuse.
Between the chainsaw duel and the forced family dinner this makes me wonder if it had influence on Resident Evil 7.
Yes, it did. I remember reading that tcm was one of the inspirations for re7. Great game, great movie!
Cheers.
Glad that TCM2 won, but looking forward to seeing the Phantasm review hopefully in the near future.
Funnily enough, Tobe Hooper even considered the first one a comedy. An ultra dark comedy. But a comedy. He kind of has a point.
teenage kids back then thought it was funny...
@@thegreenbird795 I can see why. The whole thing is like an endurance test and if you can get through it you’ll probably laugh about it. It’s just how absurd it gets. Like, it begins as this coming of age film set on a road trip in rural Texas and without a whole lot of foreshadowing, this crazy guy pops up and kills four of the characters in rapid succession.
Lol i watched it for the first time like a week ago without knowing Tobe's intentions of it being a dark comedy and i thought it was quite funny, but it was also stressful at times and i get how people could have missed the comddic elements
There’s so much I love about this film, from the soundtrack, to the satire poster, to the teaser, it’s better than it gets credit for.
I love the line: “I'm the Lord of the Harvest!”
“What's that? Some new health food bunch?”
"His chainsaw is blessed by the lord"
What a phrase. It would make an amazing out of context quote.
Super Mario Bros would have been 1000× better if Hopper had acted exactly like this in it.
Will you have the entire series done in the next 23 years? Asking for a friend!
8:18 That's fitting since Oingo Boingo's 'No One Lives Forever' is on this soundtrack (and also the soundtrack to 'Shrunken Heads' which was directed by Danny Elfman's brother Rick).
13:35 He suffered a machete wound to the head during the Vietnam War that cleaved off part of his skull. That's why he has the plate. Doesn't explain why his face looks the way it does.
Stretch having to wear the skin of her dead buddy was so horrific and hilarious. No wonder she's traumatized by the end.
Mhm poor stretch and L.G
Definitely a movie that has grown on me. When I first watched it, I hated it. After the first movie, I was not expecting a comedic film. But now I really like
I don't get how it's comedic. Because crazy people are weirdos?
I loved this movie from my first viewing. I was a kid at the time and had no idea who Dennis Hopper was. Then many years later I saw The Devil's Rejects and didn't realize the first time I saw it that the actor playing Otis in that movie had played Chop Top in this movie. LOL
Pop Quiz Hot Shot! There is a sheriff dual wielding two chainsaws franticly screaming he is the lord of the harvest. What do you do?
Get on a bus driven by Sandra Bullock?
When are we getting the review of Alabama Weed Whacker Massacre 4?
This one has always been my favorite TCM movie. The dark humor and horror combination just works.
I actually met Caroline Williams once at a convention years ago. To say that she is awesome in person is an understatement.
Omg thats so nice I'd love to meet her
Dog will hunt! *Primus intensifies*
Hopper is a legend! No matter how crap the script is, Hopper will bring his A game to every scene he's in! Love this man!
nothing satisfies more than knowing snob approves of the McConaughey cyborg
I know right? Everyone applauds part 2 for being strange and different but put down part 4 for the same reasons. I'm not saying 4 is better than 2 but it sure is a messed up, entertaining trip of a movie! You also get to see the annoying Renee Z. get tazered a bunch of times! That's almost worth the price of admission alone. Lol Yeah, I know I'm messed up ;)
My favorite Texas chainsaw film!
Favourite movie of the series. 80s AS FUCK!
My first DVD I bought in 2004 from best buy store Dearborn Michigan Detroit and still got it 18 years later
This and Exorcist 3 are tied for best build up to sudden Jump scare for me
The cut i saw as a kid had the last shot uncropped so you could see cars on the freeway in the distance which unsettled the fuck outta me.
Every trip i ever went on as a kid always had me thinking what fucking chainsaw esque shenanigans could be happeninng just off the road.
While TCM2 is the film that has dividing opinions for the fandom, atleast I can say that it's certainly better than Texas Chainsaw Massacre 4 "The Next Generation".
4 is weird, but I can't say it is bad. The remake prequel and the 3D one are bad. I don't think that 4 belongs in the same category as those two.
Even though I haven’t seen this film, from what I’ve heard of it, it’s an absolute blast.
It is . the kind of movie being drunk was made for.
It's absolutely insane in the best possible way.
Watch it. It's awesome.
Dude, it is; definitely check it out you will not be disappointed
I live in south Texas, Leatherface still out here.
This was my first Texas Chainsaw movie, and that scene of her with the saw at the end always stuck with me. Also, the scene with Leatherface coming out of the record vault when the lights come on never fails to make me jump, even when I know it's coming
"So if I bang the saw, its incest!!" Classic line Mr. Snob.
Kick ass! Another classic gets the Cinema Snob treatment.
This is one of my fave horror comedies of all time. I've met Bill Johnson and Bill Moseley and have talked to them on Facebook. Great people and is fun to talk too!
I won't forget the first time I watched this and my first thoughts were " what the fuck did I watch" and honestly my thoughts are still the same. This is a weird and great movie.
Saw this movie when I was a little kid, and had never really watched horror or gorey movies much before. Nightmare fuel for years. As an adult it's hilarious.
Just wish someone would either find or release All American Massacre, the lost Chop-Top film with Buckethead playing Leatherface, and Bill Moseley reprising his roll as Chop-Top, there's 2 lost films I hope some day get found, London After Midnight & AAM.
I didn't like it when I first saw it as a kid, but re-watching it years later, I really enjoyed it.
11:10 - And that's the part were she enters the Netherrealm and meets Scorpion.
I love this movie to death just everything about it is just pure gold I've played a set of friends house no one knew what the fuck was going on and the part with Leatherface came out of the room with the light out with a chainsaw bland everybody jumping I was just laughing Good times
I thought Christmas only came once a year: but you cut the best line the cook has: "sex is, well... nobody knows"
When I saw The 'Burbs for the first time, I knew I had to rent TCM 2!
My top favorite sequel to a groundbreaking slasher classic ever!!! Even our dear old Tobe Hooper (RIP) called this one the best of the films he made for Cannon (although LIFEFORCE is my personal pick of the litter).
I see TCSM 2 like I see Evil Dead 2.
My favorite Chainsaw movie! Poster hanging in the living room. :)
This was my first Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie. Then I saw the fourth one.
I would like to see Brad do a Snob review of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III and IV if he hasn't already. I know the fourth one has Matthew McConaughey and Renee Zellweger in it!
He hasn't. Strangely he's only done this one and the original. And he tackled the original like 8 years ago
@@Campbellzilla thanks, I didn’t know that!
Now that you mention it, a Death Wish/TCM crossover would be cool.
Madman was one of the first "slasher" flicks I saw as a teenager (in 1983 on VHS no less) you have to do it someday! I would love to see you tear it apart!
Love this sequel, one of funniest movies ive seen
RIP Kinky Friedman, who played the Sports Anchorman in the film.
The “are you sure it’s Franklin” bit made me spit my coffee out
I remember the wacky family and lair made this movie even more bat ship freaky as a kid.
A great movie for you to review would be "Never Too Young To Die" with John Stamos and Gene Simmons
I've never clicked on a video so fast. Also, where are these old videos I keep hearing about lol
Still a huge Texas chainsaw massacre 2 fan.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2: Chop Tops Electric Dancing Shoes is Edited with a Chainsaw and Lord of the Dance, great Review
I know it didn't win the poll, but would you review the Phantasm films one of these days? Pretty please!
Until he said it, I hadn't realized my first exposure to this flick was from The Burbs too.
Bill Moseley is so on point in this. I saw this at my first job in a movie theatre as a teenager & on shrooms lolol it was the perfect movie for that. I had no clue the way it just went off in all kinds of directions with the tunnels etc wth was going on. It seemed 10 hours long. I’ve loved it ever since.
Horror films are definitely your best reviews!
If you watch the end of TCM 2 and pay attention to what is happening behind Stretch, you'll notice something interesting. It's hard to make out but I think it is supposed to be an image of the cannibal family's Mother about to attack Stretch. I am talking about the last few frames of the movie.
I honestly like the texas chainsaw massacre 2 alot. I love chop top and I think bill moseley did a perfect job playing the character. I also like dennis hopper in this movie and I thought it was a great sequel over all. I thought it was pretty entertaining and an interesting horror film. I also think it's the best texas chainsaw massacre sequel.
YES YES YES!!! I got Cannibal AND TCM2 from you in just a matter of months and I've been waiting on those for like, ten years!! This is my faaaave. I watch it with a smile every time lol. Bill Moseley is the greatest.
I love Brad Jones he's one of the few channel awesome guys that I still respect, and he has always really had a great charisma and energy about him.
my family has kind of an in joke with this movie as the lead lady looks just like my aunt back when this movie came out lmao. same hair cut and everything. as a kid i didn't know how badly dennis hopper was phoning it is. as an adult you can tell he doesn't wanna be there, he just says his lines. its still entertaining but yeah lol. this is one of my moms fav movies and i remember seeing the VHS all the time as a kid and when i got older i watched it and its awesome, its so fun.
even just phoning it in, he still looks like he's giving one hell of a performance.
This ranks 2 in retro amusing horror flicks in my experience, lol. House ranks number 1, Phantasm number 3.
It's out there.
A bowl of chili? That's not the kind of bowl I need when I watch movies like this.
Reminds me of the direction Return of the Living Dead 2 took
TCM 2 and Lonestar both filmed in Austin TX
Understated in your video, but that is such a fascinating observation into the eyeball glasses as an allusion to the Sawyer family upholstery situation...!!! Well done!
Way to go, Stretch and Lefty:) Although, did they REALLY have to change Sally's last name in the scrawl? 'Lefty Hardesty' sounds a thousand times better! It's funny that in the draft of the script I read, it said the first movie happened in the late 60s and that Chop Top was really the Hitchhiker--he totally survived getting splattered into pieces by that truck! I love his hippie clothes and eating flecks of his skull flesh:) Plus, Leatherface getting confused by his sexual attraction to Stretch--Jeff Burr would totally take that and amp it up by not only having the new family talking about how much he likes playing with girly parts but giving him a daughter;) And ONE of the alternate endings was Tobe's town of cannibals idea, revealed by the completely not obviously evil cop who asked Michelle what was wrong with the airline:) And the chromed saw with 'The Saw Is Family' on it! Part 3 is my favorite of the franchise for everything about it (unfortunately there were a lot of studio interferences, but Jeff Burr did all he could to make it for Tobe as a reboot sequel, doing a great job of positively progressing Leatherface's character from how he was in the first one) but there are great elements in this one too:)
Damnit now I need Bronson vs. Leatherface to be a thing.
I saw this at the drive in. I never noticed that Lefty drove an Edsel. Great show!
Now please review Phantasm... ;)
I'm kind of bummed that Phantasm lost, but at least the melodrama didn't win.
I remember seeing this movie on TV. I caught the scene where Dennis Hopper bought the chainsaws, but didn't start really watching until the heroine fell down the hole. Once she was down there, I just was so confused I had to keep watching.
Not gonna lie. I would eat that chilli. They don't just give chilli trophies in Texas to anyone!
I think they tried to bring that back at the State Fair a couple years ago but the chili kept on getting spilled over; such a shame
This is why I love your channel
In that tub when Leatherface put his chainsaw in there, that wasn't beer that was soda.
Blip TV. Now there's a name I haven't heard in a long time.
...a long time.
Thank you so for much for this. I really love all that you do.
Only 5 years before Nothing But Trouble.
I had no idea a new TCM film was coming out. The trailer didn't look too bad tbf, but now like the Halloween films the continuity is an absolute nightmare, lol.
