      If this is real, amazing…but it’s A LOT to accept. Signature on a napkin? Ok…cool. But to sketch out a snow shovel? 67-68 year old actor signs a napkin and then thinks, “This signature’s not complete without a very crude rendering of a snow shovel”. Like I said, if it’s true…love it ❤

    Fun Fact.... at the time, Columbus was a young director without much credit. During the production, Columbus was asked what kind of music he wanted for the movie. He said something like "I would love to have John Williams music one day, but i cant pay him"
    Its not known who, but someone of the production team send the script and Columbus statement to John Williams. Williams called Columbus a few days later saying "I´ve red your script, i love it. I do the music for free." 10 years later, they would work togther again, on Harry Potter

    • @nsasupporter7557

      Yes, he also directed Mrs Doubtfire and he was only 33 at the time when he directed that

    • @fedos
      @fedos Рік тому +9

      This isn't true. Columbus's original pick to score the movie was Bruce Broughton, who had to cancel at the last minute due to a schedule conflict. Steven Spielberg got him in touch with John Williams. By the time Williams came on board the movie had been shot; he agreed to score it after watching it, not from reading the script. I can find no source saying Williams work for free, but it's unlikely that his rate would have broken the $18M budget.
      From a 2015 Entertainment Weekly interview with Columbus:
      ⟪If you see an early poster for Home Alone, the credits read “Music by Bruce Broughton.” Bruce Broughton did the score for Young Sherlock Holmes, a movie I wrote, and I always wanted to work with him, so we hired him to do the score. But as we were getting closer to finishing the film we got a call from Bruce saying that he was under a deadline to finish his score for The Rescuers Down Under and he couldn’t do Home Alone. So we were left without a composer. I had known Steven Spielberg for years … Steven got me in touch with John Williams’ agent, and John agreed to screen the film and he fell in love with it. His score took the movie to a different level.⟫

    I love that John Candy and Macaulay were reunited in this after Uncle Buck. Even though they weren't in a scene together, close enough. Also the funeral scene by Candy was completely improvised, which makes it even more hilarious. And Marv's spider death scream is legit. He had arachnophobia. The greatest crime in this certainly...is that Kevin didn't even get to eat his Macaroni and Cheese.

    The real tearjerker is this movie being a time capsule of a better time: cheap groceries, no TSA at the airport, and nobody spending every waking hour staring at a mobile device. Second movie is just as terrific, if not funnier, however some may claim it's inferior. The third one is..... okay. Four through six are complete wet farts and I'd discourage anyone from seeing those if looking for above-average quality.

    John Williams did the score for Star Wars, Jaws, Indiana Jones & the Christopher Reeve Superman movie.
    But Chris Colombus, the director of this movie & the 2nd movie, did however direct the 1st & 2nd Harry Potter movies. He also wrote the script for Gremlins (definitely recommend that one, also a classic Christmas movie. Also recommend Gremlins 2)
    Hope you do Home Alone 2, the others you can skip.
    Fuller is played by Mac's brother Kieran, who also became an actor when he got older. Among the roles he did was playing the gay roommate in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.
    Come on, Vero, John Candy was your country's national treasure ;) =)

    kevin really "grew up" during the run time of the movie. he was "forced" to grow up to shop for groceries, do laundry, and even defend his house from Harry and Marv. He grew from being a bratty kid at the beginning of the movie, to taking on and accepting more responsibility by the end of the film.
