The swung vases are the best. They catch the sunlight like nothing else.✨
Yes they do! Beautiful pieces
Thank you for informing beautiful glass
Thanks for watching Patricia
I come from a fabulous “we love pretty things” family, and I was born in the 60’s. I CANNOT believe Viking glass has not been on my radar! My grandmother was Scandinavian, and had many of these pieces. I’m guessing that she loved the name. She liked to shop, and we lived near good sources. These items were so commonplace in our homes, that I’ve never thought about them as collector items. I can see that I’ll be prancing down memory lane in search of a treasure or two in my future. Thank you for this video, and all of the great information.
Thank You For Watching! Viking Glass Was A Pleasant Surprise To Learn About For Us As Well
What lovely memories to share and respect Nancy.
So interesting to learn about Viking glass production.American heritage to take seriously.
Absolutely!
I am so proud to say that I own some beautiful specimens of Viking Glass. There are very few things that my sons actually are so attracted to and that is Viking Glass. Thanks to you I can now pass on some more of the history of it.
That is great to hear Connie! Glad this video is able to help 🙂🙂
Love learning about glass!!! Thank you!!! Oooh salt and pepper shakers, neato mosquito!!
😃😃 it is gonna be a good one
😂😂neato mosquito😂😂I like it

Can do Judy! 🙂🙂
Love your videos man keep up the good work
Thanks Bud!
My best friend, passed one year ago today, was from New Martinsville, WV. I would go home with her and always made a trip to the factory gift shop. I still own several pieces that I've used since buying in 1989-1991. Love Viking Glass!
Sorry for your loss…. That is cool though that you got to visit that gift shop. I bet that would be a lot of fun
@@66uniqueantiques Thank you for your kind condolences. She was the best a girl could ever hope for and receive. ;)
The shop wasn't eye popping or extravagant, and likely would drive past if not known it was there. BUT inside there was a plethora of pieces in a rainbow array. Price was dirt cheap too! It was indeed wonderful.
My collection contains three individual salad bowls & matching large serving bowl, all clear and patterned like a lettuce leaf. The top edge is random/free form. This set is clear and textured like a lettuce leaf, super cool. Use it continuously.
I have a ruby red candy dish approx 6" diameter 2" tall with lid reaching about 6" tall. Bottom is divided into three sections. Last checked was fetching about $60-75 : )
A pair of clear candlesticks with stamp " MMA" (Metropolitan Museum of ART) on bottom OF each.
Most interesting is the 3" square with circles on all four sides for votive candles. They are around 50 each today. I paid 2.50 or 3 in fro t store. Crazy!
Set of 8. Persimmon juice glasses with Viking - handmade USA
Not sure value, but gonna sell them. Beautiful
Nice!
I have the Viking fish. Love it!
Nice!! Very Cool Looking Piece!
Thank you very much for your informative 101 videos! I'm learning so much and appreciate all you've shared. Always looking forward to what you'll cover next! ~Lu
Thanks Luann! Glad you are enjoying them! Appreciate you watching them
Yay! They’re back! My favorite series. I sold an epic Viking glass handkerchief compote dish last week!
Nice! Yes we are back and couldn't be happier
I inherited several elongated vases and wanting to sell , pristine condition in orange, green and brown and many more of different shapes and sizes
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks for watching Mary! 🙂🙂
Thanks for doing this. I was born and raised in New Martinsville. Loved Viking. Lived right beside it for a couple years. My mom had a lot but she passed when I was little and my step dad gave everything away. I wish I had some of it now.
Thanks for watching! Never to late to start collecting 🙂
My best friend, Ramona Nice graduated HS class of 72, daughter of Martha Nice Metts, owned Marty's Restaurant. Beulah Talkington, Dale, Edgar, Carole & Fala Pat were her older siblings. I'm sure you know all of them. :)
I was hoping I was going to see my Viking persimmon mushrooms as one of the priciest at the end!
Thank you for this!
Thanks for watching
I was surprised that I knew so many of these pieces but it’s no surprise. I was born in the 60’s and I have been fascinated with glass and china as long as I can remember. Will be looking for a collector’s book to study. I’ve always especially liked the green and deep red.
Me too! Absolutely beautiful colors. They look really well displayed in a lighted curio as well 🙂🙂
Right On! Viking Glass is one of my Mid-centery favorites.👍Have to do more research on early New Martinsville Glass. Thanks.😁
I LOVE Viking Glass too
Thank you.
Thanks for watching Randy!
I like all of your Spartan stuff; GO GREEN!!!
That is only scratching the surface lol I'm a huge MSU Fan
Hi I have to say I have not heard of Viking Glass....so thank you for the great info! I do recognize the mid century modern unique shaped vases and know a lot of people love those! I recall you mentioning Fostoria bought Viking glass in 80s? Fostoria made a lot of cut glass pieces for Avon ( my Mom worked there 28 years!) I do recall the compote with lids....and still have some...always fun to learn something new! Thank you for sharing 😊kim. ....Btw I see glass cat figurines on the thumbnail of your video that you did not mention! I know the brass versions of these were extremely popular in Mid Century modern...I have a set of those in brass!?
As an early ebay adopter, let me tell you there are some knockoffs in the viking lines...cheaper copies sold for less than shipping costs.. a huge impact on American dealers and came from big box China licensed by us subsidiaries..so the mail in market is tough to verfify..experienced collector inputs also now define "real" and "fake" attributes such as color chemistry..
I have just come across your channel and love it. Great information! I have been buying glass for several months just for resale. Carnival, lead crystal, hand blown, Uranium, Indiana, etc. Looking at my local antique mall options now. I have a very good idea on most of it as to what is selling for in my market. And, I am very careful not to over pay for anything. I don’t have more than $8 in any piece (most around $3) and have about 100 pieces or more. Nearly everything i have can be priced at half of eBay, Mercari, or any of the other online options and I will be more than profitable. Thanks for the amazing vids and great teaching. Most resellers aren’t willing to share trade secrets. (Funny suggestion…take a couple of M’s out of PERSIMMON.)
Glad you enjoyed the video! Good luck out there buying! The best part of the game is the hunt
I noticed colors I'd never heard of, or seen in my wanderings.
That is good, more to hunt for 🙂
I want some now. :)
😃
Such an informative video, I came across it doing research on a piece I just got at a thrift store for 5 dollars. It’s an amber candy dish.
Awesome! Glad you found value in the video
The Viking molds at one time were owned by Fenton Art Glass. They used many of the Viking shapes in their glass line…but thankfully they are all marked as Fenton.
Interesting! Thanks for the info
I should mention, the molds were acquired after Viking officially ceased production and were part of Fenton massive mold collection. Fenton recently sold off many of their molds after ceasing operations about a decade ago. Some of the old Viking molds were part of the sales.
Where does Dalzall and Blenko come into the scene?
Those vases are called swung vases. Viking glass is awesome MCM. Other companies made smilar pieces but the glass itself is exceptional. Persimmon is ubiquitous for the 70s. Blue is very uncommon
Thanks for the insight! 🙂🙂
I have an amber colored bird with a viling sticker on it
Awesome
I have a floor vase in a turquoise color that is from the sixties that I just love. I have had it for over 20 years and it still makes me smile to see it in my living room. I would love to know if it was Viking glass.
Very Cool! Try doing some online research as well as looking up a collectors book
You showed a five finger import green vase from Taiwan in your video that was not Viking at 6:02.
At 6:30 you mention a pattern, "Queen Anne", but this pattern was made by the Labelle Glass company and dates from the late 1800s. The pattern is sometimes referred to as "Bearded Man" or as "Viking", and this may have caused some confusion.
I'll have to do alittle more research on that. Thanks for the heads up
Loved your video. I turned to it to try to get clarification as to Viking glass. Watched another one you posted on Viking vs L. E. Smith glass. I have a piece that I researched and was sure it was Viking glass, Amberlina, c. 1960, swung compote dish. I posted it on EBay to sell it and was immediately messaged by someone telling me it was L. E. Smith. I have spent hours comparing pictures on the internet and watching your Utube videos and still am certain it’s Viking. I would love to send hyou a picture of it so you can help me out. Where would I send a picture to you? Vicki W.

Love Your video. Thanks so much for your time. I have 3 oieces of purple/lilac frosted 6 point compotes and 5 point large bowl. Lotus patterns. They are stickered "Viking Glass Hand Made USA" with clear rectangular plastic-like stickers with gold print. Are these real or are they knock-offs? Thank you.
Without seeing them it’s tough but feel free to email us and I can take a look
VERY INTERESTING 🤔🤨😐🤨🤔
Agreed!
I clicked on this video because of the thumbnail image. I thought you were going to talk about those Viking Glass cats. How collectable they are? Have you ever seen a glass cat when you're at sales? What do they usually sell for? What color is the most sought after?
Yes I have seen them. They can go for a few 100 but depends on cond. search alley cars on eBay and you should find some results
@@66uniqueantiques Thank you
I love beautiful glass but Viking glass is not one of them! Too modern for me. I can remember the vases in every home having one of the "melty" pieces! Can't wait for the s&p video!
To each their own 🙂. Next video will be a fun one
Viking Glass animals are good flip items. They bring between $20 - $25+
I agree!!! People love glass animals
Question: does Viking glass glow? I know there were some of the minerals in the glazes that makes it glow yellow, orange, and red but does this also happen on the blue and green ones as well? Thank you for answering some of my questions. Have a great day and look forward to seeing more on these subjects
I’ve seen the green glow but I haven’t seen blue glow. Hope that helps 🙂🤷 Thanks for watching Elsie
That's a picture of a brown owl Not a amber owl huge price difference as amber is most common
Do you know if Viking Glass was ever exported to other countries??? How do we find out what countries purchased this glass???
Yes it was. Individual tracking of items is tough but possible it just takes lots of research
Any idea if the greyhound is still a highly saught after piece? Which animals are hard to find?
Yes they are still sought after and I am not sure on other ones But I know whales are another rare one
@@66uniqueantiques pretty sure my BFF and her sister have a pair of greyhounds, not 100% but highly confident.
Whales? Hell, never knew that waa one of there animals. For sure keep eyes sharp for those.
Absolutely! I love Viking glass animals
Do you have any comments about viking glass yesteryear bullseye ruby red?
What would you like to know?
I received an orange viking glass bud vase as a gift. I don't know the value, but I use it for rose buds. It used to have a sticker but that fell off decades ago.
They are some nice pieces of glass
Was there stickers on the viking glass almost clear ?
What do you mean almost clear?
@@66uniqueantiques
You can see the oval sticker and read Viking .. but the sticker seems translucent.
I’ve got more glass and various other things that I’m going to sell since I’m responsible for handling the process since the death of my father in February. My family has a big history in the glass industry. Industry such as Anchor Hocking, Gay Fad Studios, and various other glass companies that they had once been employed. I’ve got so much stuff that I’m certain you would absolutely love. Hope you respond to this post because I truly believe that you will want to see a couple pictures of them and the amount of jewelry that is so old that the original boxes are not only intact and not damaged either, and the cotton that the jewelry boxes protect the pieces with appears to be wool that’s been processed somehow. I’ve got a little set of Limoges, just a nightmare amount of items to sell. I’m not going to do business with companies here locally. They have a bad reputation and they are not worthy of having items that my family has cherished for generations. Hit me back if you are interested.
Have you done any videos for what process people have to do to sell their items and it’s easy for a novice like me to follow the process? There’s just so much of it that I don’t have any idea about where to begin and how to begin correctly. I’ve watched a ton of videos and so far the best thing I’ve gotten from them all is to write someone like yourself and ask for advice lol.
Feel free to email me at 66uniqueantiques@gmail.com with some pics and info. I'll help with anything I can 🙂
Markings to look for?
They didn't mark their glass. They only used stickers so checking patterns and styles will be your best bet to identify
I thought you were going to talk about the animals??????
Always can make a follow up video
