I was hunting down in Mass. from VT on the same day, super cold! Once again your video got me on the edge of my seat...thanks! Can't wait for next vid cus I'm pretty sure there's a pretty sweet outcome. Did not want the season to end not because I didn't fill my Mass. tag but because the tracking bug had a hold of me and with it the adventures just kept coming around every corner. You manage to get us the viewers to get the next closest experience as the real thing. Have a great winter!!
Hello Jeff, Great video as always! You never do forget seeing those big boys. They stay with you sometimes for a lifetime, I know one of those Maine big bruisers crosses my mind every fall.. Thanks again Jeff, Jim
I appreciate your dedication to film. As a hunter from maine i know how hard it is to get a shot at a big mature whitetail let alone get a shot while solo filming. Thanks man keep it rolling!
Love it when you post something Jeff. I'm a photographer/videographer who has only turned hunter in the last 5-6 years. Just setup my youtube channel with hopes to share some of my adventures. I've been playing around the last year or so with a similar over shoulder setup with the camera on my pack. I live in Northern Maine and temps can get extreme fast, a good trick is to purchase a weatherproof external power case for the gopro then run the cord down your arm extension to a small external battery that is held on the inside pocket of your jacket close to your body. This will extend the battery and keep it a little bit warmer on an inside pocket close to the chest.
@@jeff_doyle Yes it is, here is one for the session someones designed and I know they have one for some of the other models too. I believe this channel has a review on both kinds ua-cam.com/video/5GnIZNSyVgo/v-deo.html I'm currently testing a setup that I believe is going to add even more options. I'd be happy to share it with you when I have tweaked all the details.
What’s one thing you did in 2019 that you regret or plan to change for 2020? Hard to say I have any real regrets, but I definitely went too fast at the end of Episode 7 when I knew he was close. Each year after the season I choose one thing to focus on adjusting for the following season and it’s a strategy that has really helped me grow. Thanks for sharing your ideas and lessons!
Jeff Doyle I bowhunt Maine a lot Jeff and got my biggest buck this year 223 lb 11 pointer what a rush . I then went to newhampshire and had muzzleloader misfire on nice buck . I would change the fact I didn’t check breech plug for clogging after wet conditions day before thanks for tips on tracking
I plan not to dwell on missed opportunities as much as i did this season... My ol man taught me well, the deer being the bonus, the treat just to be able to be out there.. This year i found myself dwelling on missed opportunities more than usual.. Gotta get back to basics and just know I'm lucky I'm hunting at all!!!! Love your content, always top notch!!
Didn’t spend enough time shooting my bow and missed the buck i have as my profile pic < at 20 yards broadside grunted him right to me. Then someone shot him with a muzzle loader never found him and I found him stripped clean by coyotes. Im hunting Massachusetts this year for the first time. Public land seems kind of Scarce where I’m at.
My one and only regret this year is getting cold feet on stand in 3* temps. Couldn't take it any longer so, I got out of my tree stand an hour early and decided to move it 15 yards closer to river bank. Found a tree I liked, and climbed it breaking branches and clearing things out of my way to haul my stand up. When I got to where I wanted to be, I looked across the river and there was a monster buck standing broad side to me at 75 yards. My rifle was on the ground leaning against a tree. Watched the buck walk out of my life and climbed down to get gear and hook tree stand up to a pull up rope. Climbed back up and saw a nice 8 pt rubbing a tree across the river. Again, my rifle was on the ground. Watched that buck walk off too. Got my stand set on the tree, and climbed back down. This time I carried my rifle up the tree with me. While doing some trimming of branches and tying branches out of my way, a medium size doe walked by. If I could have stayed on stand another hour longer, I would have got a shot at the first buck. That's my only regret this year.
The one thing I regret was not getting into some bigger woods in Mass. to track. I was tracking in some tight quarters where the deer come out of the woodlots and travel through people's backyards. So already researching some bigger woods for next fall. Sucks to get em up 4 times over 2 miles only to have him cross a main rd. and into housing area and wave bye bye ( happened multiple times) Had to pass up a shot at a decent one because backdrop was unsafe with a farm in that direction. He's still out there...maybe next year!?
What are you running for the mounts/camera for over your shoulder view? Hunting the ADKS, I’ve always wondered how to hunt and self film while still hunting! Thanks in advance!
Love the videos...You are actually HUNTING deer...Not just shooting them out of a blind looking over a food plot that someone else planted. Keep on trucking Jeff and thanks again.
That was close Jeff , solo filming is tough indeed, I found that out as well this year. But hopefully you get another episode or two in before the seasons wrap up here in the Northeast.
Nice job on that episode my biggest regret for 2019 was not taking an extra 2 seconds on a corker buck first day of Vt muzzleloader tracked him all morning in 2 feet of snow and blew it on him in his bed and rushed the shot it won’t be the last mistake I make I'm sure of that but we learn from each and every mistake and that’s what makes the hunt so much fun blessed to have gotten a couple deer anyhow and can’t wait for next year
It was a very curious thing to see the debris sitting on top the snow with deer tracks around it. Looking closer I could see tine marks, always something new to learn or see out there.
What hadn’t you seen before, a buck rubbing on a dead tree? Not that I can specifically remember seeing a rub on dead wood, I was just wondering cause I got confused.
Jeff about the 3 10 mark you can see what looks like big rub off your right arm 4 trees down from your position hope you catch up with that dude. I'm gonna make pilgrimage from my Adirondack home this fall 2021 to hunt Savoy mts where my grandfather use to hunt in 40's 50's
