Welcome to the family Chris this R1M is not only a beauty this came with the legacy of Yamaha, the brand that dominate MotoGP, SBK,MotoAmerica and the best rider ever (V Rossi46) won, he try with Honda and Ducati but he never won and he go back to Yamaha to win more championship and this is something that all the Yamaha rider should be proud. You wouldn't be disappointed.

I have a 2001 with under 6,100 miles when I purchased it July 2022!!!!
Weighs around 430-440 lbs.
Loving every minute of it! These bikes are a work of art! (Many bikes!) different name brands etc…. I went over 20 yrs without a bike after getting married! Lol! She wanted me to be around raising the kids! And I wanted to be around too!!!!

Lmao Chris! Yes, your becoming a Yamaha guy lol. Ya can’t deny the R1 has always been a bad ass. They are quality bikes also. I remember wayyyyyyy back in the day say , around 99 or 2000 there was this guy on a strapped stock R1 with exhaust only pullin 9.50’s at the local track that I was at that day. I was on my 2000 Busa bone stock thru the mufflers, no strap no lowering and with conservative launches I was pulling 10.30’s @ 140mph. This guy on his R1 was destroying me every time 😢 I was ok with it tho because I told myself I wasn’t gonna risk looping my new Busa. Anyway the R1 was the new 1/4 mile bad boy back then and I believe it was what made Suzuki go back to the drawing table and develop the new GSXR1000 which changed the world in liter bikes I believe. The bodywork is sick on it...especially once you get rid of the license plate bracket and definitely like to see a different pipe on it, and then maybe get rid of that huge swingarm. Other than that, I think the bike looks pimp for sure.

Do not stretch it! Full exhaust ecu flash bearings. Do roll racing only! Delete as much weight as possible. New rims!

Go to Westby Racing and talk to Chuck Ghiachetto. They run the best R1 team in the country outside of the factory Monster Yamaha. I dont know which direction youre going. I think theyre in Atlanta and worth a visit

Hey Chris, was wondering if it is worth doing head work and cam on a 07 gsxr 750? I do a lot of top end runs against 1000's. Keeps up with a few 1000s depending on which bikes and who is piloting it. Bike has high mileage, 80k + kms. i commute with the bike everyday aswell. Will i gain good horsepower or should i just get a 1000?
I say u do something way different try track racing with it road corse I think you would have a blast trying something way differnt

New s1000rr is no joke. But I still love zx10r and r1, these are track monsters. And I think most of us would likely be concerned about the new Ducati v4r. That thing is gonna be faster than new s1k

F first off I want to say more Mafia is badass and just because I made some negative comments about millennials and about popping and fire shooting exhaust and how stupid it is and how it doesn't help to performance infact the opposite, that doesn't mean that I don't think you have a great show brother, thank you for the content it's all really good, even the stuff I don't like!
To the point I was supposed to be commenting on even though I'm going to get hammered for this comment by the Yamaha guys, Yamahas for me don't seem like a very reliable of bike, out of the big four Japanese bike producers but if I'm honest, even they're stock version, before a flash, before exhaust or any mods, is super damn quick and an incredible bike just not a bike that I would buy over say a GSXR 1000 or a Hayabusa or something of that nature.
Wet weight for the base R1 is listed as 448 pounds on the Yamaha site, so this one's 19 pounds lighter though it doesn't have a full tank of fuel.
My 2019 R1M came in at 443 Lbs, stock, with a full tank.
Full Akra and Lithium battery got it down to 429 Lbs.

That 22 is my dream bike, still on my beautiful 09 r1 and still love it !
That's about an honest 194 horsepower at the crank factoring 11% losses. I usually go with 12% generally, which would make it even higher. Not too shabby.
Of course a bunch of caveats go into what a dyno gives for numbers.
One of the things I love about Moore's videos is that he has dynoed hundreds of bikes. Because of that, we can get a better idea of how bikes stack up against each other when using his numbers as a reference. In SO many other videos we get claims of really high hp bikes that end up getting walked by something that's supposed to have 10 less hp. I find it really hard to trust those vids, but not so much Moore's
@@yummyhershey5902 That's true. One advantage of owning your own dyno and shop, running thousands of bikes through the system you get a very good feel for what machinery is doing what. I guess I'm a more equal opportunity Japan bike kind of guy myself, so I'm pretty familiar with Yamaha as a brand. Glad to see Chris introduce another brand for a project. I've not owned a superbike and I don't plan on it. But if I were to buy one it would be a standard R1 just for the uniqueness of the engine. Kawasaki and Honda come in last for me. I've owned everything except a Honda. Just never found anything in their lineup appealing.

Flip the linkage around and GP shift it I’m too old I don’t like GP shift but a lot of new guys love it that quick shift Yamaha shifts like nothing I’ve ridden before once you’re finished with your tune and you’re unrestricting it it’s going to be a Ducati killer
