    Linda of "Linda's Pantry" showed off one of these a week or so ago, and now you. It tickles me to see someone making and promoting an appliance like this that just *might* make the pressure cooker less intimidating to home cooks.
    Personally, I don't see why people are so fearful of them, but then, I was learning how to use my Mom's when I was 10, and I've been using my 50 year old Mirro-Matic since the day it came out of the box, and I've never yet managed to blow one up. It's an old friend, and a powerful tool, and I couldn't live without one. And yes, it makes the best pot roast *EVAH*! LOL
    With pushbutton controls, and automation and simplicity of use, and with demonstrations by trusted UA-cam cooks such as yourself, just *maybe* people will realize how dang useful useful the things are, and that they're really not life threatening at all. Well done, Beth!

      ***** Excellent! If you're that excited about it, then it's got to be a good unit. More importantly, you're opening up a whole new way of cooking. Interestingly, one of my all-time most viewed videos is the pot roast I did in the pressure cooker a year or so ago. Maybe I'll get inspired and re-visit it sometime soon. I make it often, and it's addictive!

    Quite intriguing.. tempted to get myself a pressure cooker.

      HeyLookItsAmy As I was telling someone else, I've been wanting one of these for a while now. Having seen a few chefs cook things in a fraction of the time for some cooking competitions, I knew I wanted to try them for those times when you have to do things and find yourself starting dinner a little late.

    • @HeyLookItsAmy
      @HeyLookItsAmy 9 років тому

      ***** Yeah, I cooked a roast the other day and it took me a while to prepare and then I had to wait for it to actually cook in the oven, dinner wasn't on the table until nearly 8pm, we usually eat at 6:30. One of these would be so convenient to get long-cooking meals out quickly and easily! Do you mind if I ask how much this model you have cost you?

    • @CookingAndCrafting
      @CookingAndCrafting  9 років тому

      HeyLookItsAmy I was sent this for review, so it didn't cost me anything, but they cost $100. I have seen them go on sale for around $92ish.

      That's surprisingly cheap, I was expecting a couple of hundred dollars.

    I wanted to make a slow cooker roast today, but by the time I got to the store, I realized that to cook it the way I like it -- low and slow -- we would have either been eating at 10:00 tonight or had to have sandwiches and tried again tomorrow! Then I thought to use the Power Cooker just to brown it -- by the way, thank you for saying how you brown yours, as there's no Browning button on this one (on the smaller one, however, there is). My husband asked, "Why don't you just cook it in the Power Cooker XL? I thought about it, and thought maybe he was right, and followed along with you.
    The only real difference was what I used as my base: 2 cans cream of mushroom, 1 onion soup mix, threw in bunches of vegies (potatoes, celery, carrots -- I had an onion but forgot to use it). I'm literally about to open the machine RIGHT NOW.... Be right back ...
    A bit disappointed. I did the 25 minutes, and while it cooked, it isn't tender. Gonna try 15 more minutes and see if that works. Will let you know...

    • @catniplemon
      @catniplemon 7 років тому

      There was no results posted after your saying you were going to let us know. I want to know! lol Did it help to add 15 more minutes? (I have one of these pressure cookers)

    • @Jennifr1966
      @Jennifr1966 7 років тому

      Loni Carr no, I was disappointed. However, someone else recommended high for 90 minutes, which would be a huge difference! I'm having one tomorrow (10/28/17), but haven't decided whether to try it at 90 minutes or go back to slow cooker, being that's tried and true.

    Thanks for the video. I have had mine for a week. It is the first Pressure Cooker that I have owned, I upgraded it to the Pro. Used twice, frozen chicken wings and a Venison Pot Roast. So easy, and I have time to figure out what we have on hand, look for a recipe, and watch some You Tube for directions. Still have enough time to cook eat and clean up on time. Pressure Cooking is for me!

    The XL Power Pressure is amazing my husband bought me one last year. Now I own 2 pressure cooking and of course my rice cooker. I have made many dishes plus cooking tamales. I didn't us the store that much this summer. Plus with my schedule I can whip dinner in less than 30mins and spend time with my husband before I go to the convalescent home to see my mother. I has been amazing having the pressure cooker your going to love it....

    SO cool to see you using this. Pressure cookers are one of those things I am so curious about but scared of at the same time. I did use one of the old school ones at a clients house a couple times. Scared the crap out of me with that little knob on top jingle jangling around lol.

      Andrew HUH? Who said that? I normally do. Sometimes I forget to film the very ending because it's time to eat and there is not enough lighting, so I'll put in text words instead. But it seems like lately I have been forgetting to film an occasional ending and opening. But will always talk about the taste of the food. Hello? That is what I'm pretty much known for lol. (Stress/sickness/etc. has been happening lately and probably due to the forgetfulness)

    What cut of beef did you use? I used an outside round cut in my recipe,and it was tough as leather.The store didn't have any chuck,which my recipe said I should use.

    • @DyamondEyezz
      @DyamondEyezz 6 років тому

      If your meat was tough as leather it was because it wasn't cooked long enough hers was well undercooked and ik hers is tough. She should have left it in 45-1hr

    A Pressure Cooker has been out since the 16th hundreds so it's no surprise for a complete meal to be ready in 25 mins.
    I use the pressure cooker that goes on top of the stove. I might have an issue with these electric kinds. Looks easy enough though.

      Trina L. This IS indeed the million dollar question. Yes, it was nice and tender. I got a crappy roast, unfortunately. Some parts had a bit of gristle (sp?) and was tough cutting through, but the rest was YUM!!!

    Would have been helpful if you took out the meat and veggies at the end to check if they were done to perfection. I have made things in my pressure cooker and the meat came out tough and I had to put it in a while longer. I'm new at this.

  • @2000konnie
    @2000konnie 9 років тому +8

    The video should have been longer to show the result of how tender it was. My guess is not very tender. For a piece of meat that large, you should have done at least 45 minutes.

    • @voiceofwisdom9596
      @voiceofwisdom9596 8 років тому +1

      Yes, u agree it should if been cooked at least 45 minutes to an hour.....they say 1/3 of the time in a pressure cooker compared to if the roast were in the oven. Rule of thumb.....Basically 1/3 of the time it would of taken if cooked in oven.

    for all those worried about the tenderness of the meat just cook it all in the pressure cooker for 1 hour. it will be tender like you want, even the guy from the commercial has a video of youtube talking about how so many people claim it wasnt tender like the commercial. on that video he said go to 1hr. charlie o You're right. I was sent this pressure cooker for review. It was something on my "to buy" list because I have seen some chefs using it on some shows and wanted to try the 'newer' type. My dad has this really old one with a gauge on top and the little steamer goes crazy when it's cooking. It's really comical, but has also scared me for years and years. I decided it was time to try.
      I have also made two more meals since using this pressure cooker and I have decided I am in love with it. Not only does it save me a great deal of time, but it's fun playing with something new!

      SimderZ I've actually wanted a pressure cooker for a while now, so I'm glad to see it. Seeing that you can make a pot roast that quickly is just amazing. Plus, I know Beth is very real, so she's not going to praise it if it isn't good. See it as a friend recommending a product to you, that's exactly how many people learn about things, UA-cam or not, that you wouldn't know about otherwise. :)

    • @CookingAndCrafting
      @CookingAndCrafting  9 років тому

      ***** Thanks Reh! I have ALWAYS endorsed products, and without being sent the product in advance. Remember how crazy I was when I got my Ninja food processor? I hurried and got their slow cooker. Then their blender, etc? HA!!! Then, how I could not stop talking about Orgreenics and their pans? It goes on and on. I wasn't paid a penny to go on and on about their products.
      This, however, has the FTC disclaimer that states that the company sent me this product free of charge only to be shown in a video. I did not have to use it, nor did I have to praise it. I love this thing. I have (as you have already seen) made three meals in it to date. I will be using it hopefully this weekend to can the strawberries I bought, as well as to attempt to make a dessert. That freaks me out (dessert), but I'm willing to give it a go :D
