My main issue with doing OLLs and PLLs on cubes that the center piece orientation is important is that there are a lot of algorithms that flip center pieces (sometimes even the center pieces of the non top layers). That's why doing the begginer method is so good for them. It doesn't turn the center pieces.
Yeah knowing how to do center rotations is super important for these weird puzzles. If I'm familiar with the puzzle, I sometimes save them all for the end.
@@JPerm well from what I know Abt center orientation you can rotate it 2 times and have the cube the in the exact same state(except the center ofc) by just *doing 2 T perms*
@@Feraminecarts you can also do what he did here. (R U R' U) * 5 And before rotating the last one 180° you can turn any two centers by degrees that add up to 0 by doing easy commutators
As someone who has solved a mastermorphix multiple times, I agree about it being weird to turn. The way I naturally hold the cube causes parts to turn when I don’t want them to, and it often slips out of my hands.
I got a 4x4 version of this puzzle and it's actually the most frustrating puzzle I have because it's so hard to tell which pieces are in the right spot since some of them look identical, like when solving centers, I often get a case where it's impossible for me to solve the last 2 centers, and in my first attempt, I could not figure out what was wrong. Turns out, some of the solid color centers can be put in the wrong place but still look right and you have no way of knowing until you reach the last 2 centers. There's also the annoying thing with parity because you can't do the normal 4x4 parity algs since they'll mess up the centers on this puzzle, so you have to mess around finding which of the second layer edges are actually top layer edges until you get a case that seems solvable. On top of that, it was technically my first 4x4 cube 'cause I got it from a mystery puzzle order before I even learned normal 4x4
The secret is to not solve this by reducing to a 3x3... reduce it to a 2x2. Solving a 4x4 cube this way also has the benefit of avoiding parity issues caused by similar looking pieces. Basically, the pyramid version, the 8 octants are divided into 2 types... pyramids (with the corners) and triangles (just face pieces). The pattern of these is every-other, so it's like AI cube... solve the pyramid ones first, and the shapeshifting goes away and you're just left with 1-colour pieces to put together to get the 2x2 which you then solve.
Reminds me of when a friend brought in his daughter's "cube" to work and asked me to solve it. I had never even heard of an axis cube before and I spent a good 4 hours working it out. Once I realised it was a 3x3 in disguise it got a lot easier. But the unnatural way it looks confused the hell outta me!
I remember my first time solving this puzzle. It was my first shapemod and it completely broke my brain until I took a step back to realize how it worked. Incredibly fun first solve.

As an escape room designer, I can assure you that having a puzzle like this in a room would make for a really boring experience. A tiny puzzle that only one person can work on at a time, likely to take up the entirety of the average player's time because it requires significant outside knowledge to be able to solve quickly. It's a great puzzle, but absolutely not a fit for an escape room. We have one in our lobby for people to mess with before playing, though!

The first morphix puzzle I purchased and solved was the 4 layer megamorphix. And it doesn't turn any better il tell you. What I have found is that sticking to the beginner methods on the 3rd layer seams to be the easiest method. However forewarning... you will need a PLL parity alg that does not disturb the centers.
I solved the mastermorphix with no help as well and you could have narrated my process and it'd reflect my thoughts. Haha. It's such a strange puzzle but it highlights lots of important concepts (mostly piece orientation). Thanks for everything you do!
I love your channel so much. I started in June when I got a cube for my birthday and I didn’t really know ehat to do or how to memorize algs but I watch ur videos when I’m bored because it’s fun to see all of the puzzles
Tip for second layer edges, this works on the axis cube too, if the corner underneath the slot where you want the edge to go is big, turn the piece so that the big side of the edge is facing that corner, opposite if it is a small piece. Also beginner method is the easiest for this cube and the axis cube

-review of the whole puzzle
This was a fun watch. I've been a collector and solver of twisty puzzles ever since the first RC in 1980. I have quite the collection.
I always get so excited when jperm uploads lol
I solved the mastermorphix with no help as well and you could have narrated my process and it'd reflect my thoughts. Haha. It's such a strange puzzle but it highlights lots of important concepts (mostly piece orientation). Thanks for everything you do!
I love your channel so much. I started in June when I got a cube for my birthday and I didn’t really know ehat to do or how to memorize algs but I watch ur videos when I’m bored because it’s fun to see all of the puzzles
I’m at exactly 20 secs
Thanks jperm there was mastermorfix laying in my house for months finally knew how to solve it from u ❤️
Tip for second layer edges, this works on the axis cube too, if the corner underneath the slot where you want the edge to go is big, turn the piece so that the big side of the edge is facing that corner, opposite if it is a small piece. Also beginner method is the easiest for this cube and the axis cube
Tnx for the inspiretion I had start cubing 2 years ago but I can.t solve the cube that fast it takes a full 1 mins to solve the cube but after seeing your vidios I am now sub 40 I am thanks to you for the help

This is probably the first cubing video I have watched in months, and guess what, I am here, where it all started.
