As his book "Discipline Equals Freedom: A Field Manual". I wish I had THAT as a high school kid. His other works on leadership as well. All these fantastic books and guests. It's a plethora of excellent information. You are totally on point. Get Some!!!
I am a 78 year old woman who is fascinated by these interviews Jocko does and find that this particular book is excellent. Hard to read in places but I really feel I am there. It gives me a better understanding of what these guys went through as I had a few friends who were platoon leaders.
Colonel McDonough was my first Brigade commander at my first duty station in Vicenza Italy at that time it was the SETAF Infantry Brigade. Now its the 173rd Airborne Brigade. I remember he was small in stature he limped pretty bad and one on his ear's was partly missing . His lore from Vietnam was legendary we had several uniform inspection I remember his uniform was stacked with medals to include at least 4 Purple Hearts and he spoke everyone listened. a Great American Warrior

Thank you for enlightening me on so many different aspects of life and providing an extremely detailed way of how to deal with those situations. I'm looking forward to purchasing and reading this book in depth.
Outstanding book. Should be required reading for every future platoon leader. I read that book while at advanced camp at Ft Lewis Washington in one day while waiting for many hours in lines during processing lol.
the unmitigated daily discipline in all things! I'm so stoked to see the moment in time where Jocko discovered that! hahaha I feel like one caveman cut his finger on a rock and all of us cavemen are shocked and thinking....weapon!
authentic. jocko is the shhhheat! these readings are great. jocko , check out the civil war short stories of ambrose bierce. ambrose is a civil war combat vet. he is the father of american horror and i think war inspired all of this creepy writing. jocko, read some and review on the show big man. jocko, you probably know about bierce. i just would appreciate you read bierce and get your thoughts on bierce's complex writing that mirrors the complexity of war. we had to read platoon leader at norwich military college of vermont. thanks for being an inspiration to many. your choice and approach is pioneering for podcasts. mike kim- ex monk/ iraq war vet
Old Video, I know, but I have to ask... "What do you say to a girl who's arms you shot off" (Time Code 47:49 - 48:34 ) What DO you say to that girl? How do you take Ownership without making her an enemy? How do you prevent her injury becoming your mental scar? Would love to hear your input into that situation jocko, but if anyone else has some insightful input it would be appreciated. Thank you
Wow I'm reading this book now and it seems that Oliver stone has read the very same book , the similarities in some of the stories, the ants ,the platoon Sargent, I could go on ,but then I'm sure alot of them had similar experiences, overall I enjoyed reading the book ,

Should be required on the battlefield. Both sides would cease fire and sit and listen around a campfire.
When I was in HS they made us watch CNN Student news 🤢

The U.S. Army's WARFIGHTER TOC exercises years ago included friendly fire situations, and hopefully the S-2/S-3 people would catch them in time.

Didn’t they make a cheesy B-movie of this book back in the 80’s?
this is what Americans should be listening to....but no.....they would rather know about celebrities and their lifestyles....
Wow. 🇺🇸🌎

I'm pretty sure this was made into a movie.
Is there an audio book for this with Jocko as narrator?
