      Kerri if you like edibles with good flavour try growing lemon verbena. It is a Mediterranean plant, so needs to be in the greenhouse over winter, but the lemon flavour is so close to the real thing it's great for making tisanes.
      Corsican mint is another, it's a very strong true mint, tiny, but again very flavourful. It may require a very separate planter because it's so tiny, and may benefit from the greenhouse too.

      Aw - our weather has turned too now. Been hot (for us! 28 degrees today) so popping to the plot late in the evening to water. Can't get much done in the day but it does look like the wkend will be a bit cooler - in fact, it could be PERFECT gardening weather....!!

    Lovely update, Kerry! I appreciated the reminder to update in a video on the things I've started and then not re-addressed. How great to see GWL! We don't have things like that here that I'm aware of, even at the state level. I guess we have county and state fairs but they're not gardening shows. That penstemon is beautiful!

    We’ve all been in some kind of extreme weather. We just had tornadoes, hail and 6” of rain in 4 days and more in 2 more days in northern Midwest US. The dew points, heat and mosquitoes are making some days totally unbearable to be outside. We had severe drought last year with its own problems, but this year I think we will deal with fungus. I’m actually thankful for sandy soil now. Many states around us are having major floods and a dam got plugged and it broke through the side in Minnesota. So things could be worse.
    Next 2 days are to be lower humidity and cooler 🎉. It was unbearable at 5 am. So I’m catching up on what everyone else is doing today. Thanks for being here. 😊.
    Love the penstemon it’s my new favorite! You are all so lucky to have all those garden activities near you.

    • @dogontheplot
      @dogontheplot  4 місяці тому +1

      Gosh - that is extreme! Yes, got to make the most of the bearable days and just accept that some days you just can't get out there. Yes, we are lucky in the UK to have so many gardening shows and gardens to visit. I'd love time to visit more of the country estate gardens. The penstemon is striking isn't it - I need to get it in the ground! But still, you do have to overwinter them here so maybe a nice big pot instead...

    In November last year when we had really heavy winds (in Whitby) a trellis blew over and landed on a new patio apple tree - it snapped in half so I reattached it and held it together with 2 clothes pegs - it's still surviving 7 months later I don't think I'll see fruit this year but maybe next year 🍎🍎🍎 it's beautiful here now thank goodness the sunshine has arrived at last 🌻🌼🌿 I planted 5 bare root hybrid tea roses in January they are all about 2-3 ft tall now and some have roses bigger than my hands they must be 7" in diameter - this is the year of the roses for me 🌹🥀🌹🥀🌹 my 4 year old grandson Noah has picked and eaten my first strawberries 🍓🍓🍓 he thinks they're his plants now 🙄 he woke me up at 6.30am yesterday and asked if there were any more strawberries red yet 🥴🍓😆🥰

    Hello Kerry, So much activity everything is looking so nice. I like that a lot of the videos have update to things done in other videos. Too bad for your pongo beans but then I have no idea what they are anyway. I do love the field trips so kool to see places I may never see. Jessie plot 37 takes us on field trip kinda regular. Now when she mentions a particular flower show I often know what it is and where it is. The places like Malvern will show up on so many youTube channels as they all go to certain ones.
    Maybe I will make it to the UK and visit some allotment plots to walk around and see for myself. ***Yes the dahlia in the zip lock bag was Absolutely Brilliant. Great update, I'm happy to see you probably have enough pumpkins now. One of my patty pans has its first female flower that I've pollinated as it's in the plastic greenhouse. The one outside is still struggling with hail damage and cold and rainy weather but the forecast is good, so I expect good growth ahead. Perhaps even some tomatoes will ripen. Snacking on strawberries, sugar snap peas - also purple - and cucumbers. Life is good.

    • @dogontheplot

      Haha Trude - just enough I think! Oh yes, I must go check on my one purple pea and see how it is faring! The strawberries are actually great in the front garden - picked loads yesterday - and the tayberries, loganberries, raspberries are all ripening up now. Froze a tray of those yesterday. Life is a bit challenging for me at the minute - but it's good to be reminded of the bright spots 💕
