After tons of online research on spray foam I kept going in circles to find the answers, luckily for me my spray foam guy has been doing this for YEARS and he provided all the answers that I was getting conflicting information on. This video will cover all the topics of moisture barrier or not, open cell vs closed cell, and what the entire process is like to get your building foamed in.

I have a spray foam business and we have never left the scrap materials behind for our customers to deal with.

Good job! I’m a custom builder on Cape Cod 36 yrs waterfront homes. You need 2 -3 “ of closed cell spray foam then r19 fiberglass insulation, then a poly layer then Sheetrock or wood.
The spray foam not only has superior r factor but more importantly it stops ALL drafts and wind issues. We have to pass a strict “ blower door” test for air leaks. Air leaks means higher heating/ cooling bills.
One of the best resources on spray foam is a channel called spray jones. He has been a spray foam contractor for over 20 years. I went with closed cell for my shop I love it.

Brother i like the way you did the walls and insulation. My shop has open walls as of now but after seeing how you did yours i might go this route. I really dislike the open walls, the finished look is a lot more practical as well as great looking. Also, im glad you showed the difference between the two types of spray foam. I agree with your assessment of using the open cell.

I thought you had to either paint on a fire barrier or cover with sheet rock? Don’t think it’s supposed to be left exposed due to fire hazard. When I did my basement garage I used sheets of polyiso but they were rated to be exposed.
It’s fire resistant? They said if you painted it the paint would be more flammable than the foam? I have no clue just going off what he told me
