My grandmother made all her granddaughters this baby blanket for her future great grandchildren before she passed away. I am now a grandmother and my grandmother's blanket has been passed down to my granddaughter. (Her great great granddaughter) A precious treasure in our family.
Alison, that is SOOO gorgeous! I love shells! And I love lacy, open patterns! I will definitely be using this pattern - if not for a blanket, a stole! Thank you very much for showing how simple this is to do! I hope you are planning to do a video closer to your daughter's due date, showing all of the sweet things you make for your grandbaby!
I love your patterns they have taught me so much. I tried this one but whatever I did my chain was too tight so it wouldn’t lie flat. It’s my method of crochet to blame because I was taught by my Nana 70 years ago after she had suffered a stroke and had little use of her left hand. So my method is a bit like knitting without the one needle. But it works for me. I solved my problem by doing one row of dc into my chain before I start the pattern rows. I am thrilled I can now complete this pattern. Thank you so much x
that is an awesome blanket. I'll be making this one for sure. Might do as Roesmary just below said and make a wrap since many feel that they don't want baby blankets with holes but it sure would be a great heirloom blanket
Thank you Alison. Finally nearly finished the blanket and it’s so soft and cuddly. Another of your creation going to my favourite charity “ hugs” . For grieving parents, for babies born sleeping ❤️
I love your patterns, so beautiful and your instruction makes it so so easy that i dont feel intimidated as a beginner, but, in all honesty, above all of that, I love your accent! It makes learning just as charming as your patterns! Thanks for sharing your gifts and talent! Congrats on the new granbaby!!
Oh I hadn't seen the bonnet when I posted the message below. I want to make that alsol I have a pattern for a bonnet that everyone seems to love but this one seems easier and faster.
Beautiful Alison, I have this yarn and have been looking for a shawl pattern for me. I think I will use this pattern making it very long but not so wide.
How beautiful!!! I can hardly wait to start this blanket 😃! I didn't have to write down the directions for it and I feel confident that I can make it 🤩. I have a pink/white/peach and mint green variegated yarn blanket going for a great niece who is 4 months old 🥰, but it's a combination solid granny square & granny cluster blanket...so it's pretty mindless. When I feel like working on this, I will get it going😁🤓
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel I finally finished putting the border on the blanket I described in this text/comment last night 😁🤩. 5 rows of a darker pink (solid)than the pink that's in the body. I sent my niece who's the almost 5 month old's mom, a pic of it & she said the pastels remind her of sherbet 🤓
I love all your videos. Your explanations are superior to most. Thank you very much. By the way, could you let your sister know I love her books? I could not decide which I wanted, so I bought two. LOL!!!! Congratulations on the New grandbaby. I have 11 myself. They are a joy!!!
Thank you so much Alison, another amazing pattern. I've been learning to crochet with your fabulous tutorials for the last year now, you teach beautifully and I have made so many of your patterns. My favourite go to is the sherbert stitch. It has been admired by so many and I always send them to your channel, telling them how great your tutorials are. I see this new stitch being another show stopper. I would love to see it done as a baby jacket and dress so I can do a whole layette. I've never mastered getting the full skirt effect when I try to create without a pattern. Hope you can help me out. Looking forward to seeing all your baby makes and following your channel.....Exciting times. with love and warm regards Sheila ☺
if you follow the little dress with the square yolk i put up recently then add this stitch to the dress part I will give it a try as i have and other yolk for dresses and cardigans in my projects box.
Hello Alison what a pretty delicate pattern. I’m just starting it , done the chain and half way into the first row but find my work is curling. I’m not a tight crocheter just wondering if I should go up a hook size for the chain row or do you think it will settle out ?
Alison I was making your offset crochet shells blanket a few months ago and I found it in my stash today. I went to you tube to look up the pattern and see it is no longer available. Is it going to be back up again.?
I will have a look a few of the bigger crochet channels have reported missing videos again, I'm wondering if this is affecting my channel too as a few of my older ones have disappeared this happened last year too i will find it on my hardrive and re upload it for you look back tomorrow i will get it re uploaded Kay

Hello Alison what a pretty delicate pattern. I’m just starting it , done the chain and half way into the first row but find my work is curling. I’m not a tight crocheter just wondering if I should go up a hook size for the chain row or do you think it will settle out ?
try a half size bigger hook for the chain row that will help
Thank you and congratulations a grand baby 🎉
💜 thanks
Wish you would have patterns printed it out.
I love this pattern but my first shell base is puffy and not laying flat. Should I use a bigger crochet hook even though my yarn calls for a 5mm?
try a bigger hook for your foundation chain a 6mm then start the pattern with the 5mm that should help
Do you hat the hat pattern
its on the channel just above the blanket ua-cam.com/video/TOjuCxqueIQ/v-deo.html
How many chains for a baby blanket ?
