      You can't hold all hyundai service departments accountable for terrible experiences. 9 times outta 10 service departments have their hands tied when it comes to shit like this. There's only so much they can do without the manufacturer approval. That's where proper communication and knowledge of how warranty stuff is dealt with comes in play. You get a lazy don't care service advisor then yes he or she might tell you to politely fuck off. Yes it'll make for a terrible service department experience, but you get the ones that actually break things down and explain what's going on and why then you may change your mind on that. Manufacturer will only approve repairs if they deem its needed. If not then there's nothing the service departments can do. Service advisors are just messengers from the technicians to the customers. Tech deals handles repairs and communication with manufacturers, tells the service advisor yes or no and what's going on or problem can't be duplicated and at that point service advisors relay the message to the customer and do our best to explain the reasoning and repairs of necessary. 🤷‍♂️ take it as you want but not all service advisors or service departments are terrible.

      @@brendanperry542 we’re specifically talking about Hyundai dealer service departments here which have proven over and over they do not understand the Elantra N is not an Elantra N Line, which calls for a completely different weight oil. I have first hand experience of this happening and I constantly see others post the same exact story. That’s inexcusable.
      As far as I know I haven’t heard of any Elantra N owners that have been denied warranty coverage other than one incident which was already a sketchy situation because the owner was a Hyundai technician and modified his car.

    No issues at 22K with my Intense Blue DCT and still rattle free. I had the car in service for free a routine synthetic oil change and the DCT recall was performed during that visit. The stock Michelins still have plenty of meat on them after one rotation. I did have the "uneven road surface" warning pop up. It was fixed with the download from Hyundai. The one downside with the update was that I lost the "Tube Radio" display which I thought was cool in a retro sort of way.

    Hey Recent new sub here, i just picked up a black 24’ Elantra N DCT and i have to say what a great car! Ive owned several cars that were way faster but tbh i was just looking for something a bit more practical but fun at the same time! Ive owned Shelbys, ZL1 camaro, vettes, Civic Type R but i think hands down for the money nothing really compares to the EN! I do use an undercarriage spray in the winter, due to salt, so thank you so much for that warning.
    I actually bought my own undercarriage sprayer so Ill keep away from the sensor. So good to know these things!
    I have a slow leak in my front passenger side tire and im about to try and get that replaced under my tire warrenty so wish me luck! Everett Hyundai has actually been surprisingly awesome 👌 I was afraid they would suck because of where we live but nope, they give me the correct oil. They let me choose 6 (I think. At least 6) free oil change services however I want them and I get a real nice wash after. They give a thorough rundown of the car and with a great attitude from the service manager and the mechanics Ive spoken with.

      @@anthonylim2428 no they are not. A large portion are made in Alabama and the other portion are made in Ulsan South Korea and exported to the US. You can literally go online and search any 2011-2016 Elantra for sale and scroll through and look at the vin and you’ll see many with “5” which is US (Alabama built) and then you’ll see few with “K” which means it’s built in Korea (Ulsan). And yes the Elantras in Korea from that time period had the 1.6. But that doesn’t mean other Hyundais and Kia’s didn’t use the problematic 2.4 theta 2 gdi which was an option in many cars like the grandeur (azera) and sonata, the Kia k5 (optima). It wasn’t the standard engine as most came with the a 1.6 or a 2.0 NU engine with less power. But the 2.4 theta 2 gdi was an option you could get and it was horrible. They’ve had the same recalls as we have had in the USA over those engines. And also issues with oil consumption including on the latest 2.5 smartstream engine. So… idk where you’re getting your info from.

    1) Won't have the knock sensor issue based on how you described it. A) I hardly ever rains enough here for long enough to drive thru, and I definitely won't be taking this car thru a car wash.
    2) I've had that collision warning thing. It happens to me a lot at stop signs, which is weird because I'm clearly slowed way down or near stopped but there's a car ahead so it beeps at me.
    3) I think i'm a fairly late VIN for 2023, I've only had it for 3 months.
    4) EEK! I'm not tuned. I only have a BOV on mine. Hopefully that doesn't count, lol.
    5) I think my clutch is installed right. I don't see any recalls from the app for mine.
    6) N/A since I have a manual
    7) I've only used my horn once so far. I'll keep an eye (ear) out for that. I"m glad they gave this car a nice beefy horn tho. My 2011 Optima has a shit horn!
    8) I have been cognizant of my alignment so I back into my garage every time because we have pretty large sloped curves on our homes here. Haven't experienced the pull so far.
    9) Have not noticed the rattling yet on cold start.
    10) I had a couple of chips pretty quickly on my hood. Nothing rattling quite yet, but I really hate when that happens.

    Very interesting video, thanks for sharing. 18,000 miles on mine over 2 years. Luckily I have not encountered any of the problems listed so far, save for the thin, thin paint that was not the best quality when new. I did have the DCT recall performed early on, no big deal, no issues, and no cost. Sadly, I have hit a few cones and curbs and replacing parts on the front end is expensive and parts are getting hard to find. Online parts dealers are just awful and my local dealers will only deal with you in-person for some reason. The only issue I ran into was wheel bolts seizing on the studs, which required new studs in the rear and a new drive axle in the front. That is an expensive repair, but Hyundai worked with me and I cannot say enough good things about the warranty support I eventually received.

    • @n-power-automotive
      @n-power-automotive  9 місяців тому

      Wow that’s great news, except for the part about hitting cones and curbs of course, but they’re called accidents for a reason. Do you think the seized lug nuts were a result of the accident? I know it can happen randomly too because my wife’s Rav4 has had seized lug nuts that I’ve had to have removed and the studs replaced. Oddly enough it’s always on the same wheel (3 times now). So it sounds like you have a pretty early build if you’ve owned it 2 years and had the DCT recall, so that’s promising as far as reliability and longevity go. Thanks for the comment and enjoy those pops and bangs!!!

    Here's my experience with the knock sensor, a little long but SOLID, useful info about to be told!
    About a month ago I ran my EN through the touch-free wash I've been using for over a calender year. For the record, I've been using this wash multiple times a week, so it's been through the wash 100x's (I'm not kidding here, I've got a monthly subscription)
    Anywho, I got out of the wash, drove about 100 feet, turned onto the street and flashing CEL, code 1326...knock sensor! Since the dealership wasn't open yet and my work is about 1/2 mile down the road I just drove to work and let it sit till my day was over.
    I took it in and the next day they couldn't find a problem, cleared the code and reset the parameters and had me pick it up. Well it ran fine but 2 days later it did the SAME THING going through the same wash, so I dropped it off again and once again the same "fix".
    I then waited 2 weeks and washed it again but this time I purchased a code reader to erase the code like they did, another dealership told me to do this...well it didn't work so off to the dealership for the THIRD TIME!
    Inbetween the 2nd and 3rd time I contacted Hyundai corporate and opened a case, got a signed a case manager and they contacted me in less than a week. I told them my RIDICULOUS story and then they got back to me via email stating there's no fix in the works!
    Meanwhile the dealership took some initiative and replaced the knock sensor and when I picked up my car the SA wasn't full of confidence or compassion about this working, great!
    I tested the "fix" 2 days later and IT WORKED! Since then I've washed the EN at the same touch-free wash 5 or 6 more times without an issue, actually washed it today after work❗️
    If anyone has questions feel free to ask away,maybe we can force them to FIX IT🙏

Blew 2 in the first 2 months of owning and decided to switch to 18 inch rims and tires. The next issue has been the wired android auto or apple car play. It constantly cuts out then comes back on, sometimes you have to unplug and plug it back in. Tried different wires and different phones. Hopefully, the switch to usb-c in the 24 fixes the issue. And finally ive already seen at least one comment about Hyundai service dept and the shitty stories are all true.

      An intake does not hurt the engine and shouldn’t cause an issue with warranty. Every dealership is different though and some will threaten to void your warranty with any modification, but by law they can’t do that unless they can prove the mod caused the damage. I don’t know how expensive the fuel injectors are, but they’d be covered under your warranty anyway so it shouldn’t be any money out of pocket.

    Thanks for the video! Well-documented. I have a 24 MT with about 1,900mi and no issues so far other than the collision warning thing.. but that’s modern cars for ya.
    A few theories about the knock sensor:
    1. Water proofing on the connector probably isn’t great. I’m a big fan of my local touchless wash for getting the bird poop/pollen off the car in between hand washes. Do you think it’s a good idea to maybe wrap the connector for the sensor in shrink wrap and automotive tape?
    2. Maybe the sensor also freaks out when it’s wet because the presence of water changes the tone of the audio it’s listening to? Knock sensors are just microphones and the ECU is expecting to hear noise at a certain Hz range. Imagine listening to music when you’re underwater in a pool.. almost impossible and can’t hear much detail, not to mention the change in pitch and frequency. Wonder if that has anything to do with it..

    I own a 22 Elantra N with 24,000km. I didn't experience any issues other than a rear seat belt and DCT recall. Only slight issue I have is the rear parking sensor as I reverse out from the drive way to the road, it senses a car coming across where the car is not even close and immediately brake thinking it's going to collide. Then the car won't move for a few seconds whilst I am in the middle of the road making it quite dangerous.

    6 monthes after the original knock sensor replaced it happened AGAIN...ANOTHER ONE!
    This time their techline said to replace the ECU and the next carwash the 1326 came up, just like for the ECU (no ECU code either) and then dialetric grease was suggested and while test driving THAT fix the 1326 code popped again. Next they found a corroded ground wire for the ECU, same 1326 code but after waiting a week to wash it popped AGAIN🙄
    Now they finally replaced the knock sensor but my paper work showed them checking for carbon build up when removing the intake manifold...no carbon build up, im at 16K.

    Could you point out where that “shield” would go? My dad has a 3d printer and could make something temporary for me

      It’s under the intake manifold, so you can’t really see it.

    I have a 2020 VN and can confirm about the pulling to the right also its rare to see but also the Electronic Rack and pinion will strip its Gears and will need to be replaced i had that done after Owning the car for 2 years But it still pulls to the right Tried some aftermarket, swiber links and still don't fix.

      Ironically someone on the FB group was just discussing that issue today and another person chimed in and said he kept going out of alignment until he put in aftermarket subframe inserts and since then it’s stated in spec. Might be worth trying?

      @n-power-automotive  Рік тому

      Good question. I’m not totally sure if any are 2022 specific or not, other than the clutch being installed backward and the DCT recall, which I believe were only issues with the 2022s.

    My 2022 Hyundai Elantra n gear box or something makes a clanking noise at low speed acceleration and slowing down. People say it’s normal but I hate it so much I wanna get rid of this car. Is there something wrong here?

    • @n-power-automotive
      @n-power-automotive  7 місяців тому

      It’s normal for DCTs to make more noise than traditional torque converter automatics. How loud is it? Mind makes noise but nothing too loud.

    All these issues yall are having in the Elantra N i havent experienced in my 2022 Elantra N Line at all, bought brand new and now has 36k miles on it. The high pressure fuel pump 6:50 is not a manufacturing issue tho, thats literally the customers own error.

    • @n-power-automotive
      @n-power-automotive  Рік тому

      I never said it was a manufacturing issue. It just simply can’t flow enough fuel to a stage 2 tuned car. They have gone bad on their own, but very rarely.

    Poor quality paint, poor quality glossy black trim, poor quality interior materials that lead to rattles and NVH issues, the trunk becoming unglued in heat(????), cracking sideskirts and octane learning being the worst thing ever on a car were my main issues in 1.5 years of ownership. My rear seatbelt checker was also playing up and would tell me to check rear seats and play some stupid sounds every time I got out of the car. That was the last straw for me.
    I would get phantom speed camera warnings, FCD warnings as well as the front parking sensors(we get them in Australia) telling me I was about to hit something that didn't even exist. The blind spot monitor would ping at me turning on multi-lane intersections as well...
    I get that it's just a boosted econo car, the performance is great for the price and overall these are pretty minor things... but the amount of little issues not even 2 years into ownership really add up. Fun car, but unless you're at the track/autocross often there are just better ways to spend the money. I'm glad to be rid of it for now.

      @n-power-automotive  Рік тому +1

      That sucks that you feel you had such a bad experience, but no car is perfect especially at this price point. I can deal with those minor annoyances because every time I put it in N mode and drive the backroads it makes up for them in my opinion. But if those things drive you crazy, then it makes sense to move on to a different vehicle.

    Great video. You said it, the Elantra is Hyundai's affordable line. I drove a 2023 rental for 5 days and was horrified to realize a car company could offer something so bad in the modern era. I would rather buy a brand new 1979 Honda over that piece of shit. My sons drivable electric police car from Walmart is quieter and more refined than the Elantra. The N looks good on paper and in reviews but there's a reason for the price. There's no excuse in 2024 for noisy rattle cans even in the economy class.

      The tire sensors that Tire Rack installed in my wheel and tire package are 433MHZ. I'd compare that to the ones in your wheels. Maybe it's incorrect. My Tire Rack sensors have worked fine and my car instantly recognized them.

    Yes I always get that alarm warning on screen that yes I hear it but when I look can’t even tell what it shows cuz yes takes a second or two and disappear lol no chance to see, plus my room the trim there that are matte black or so they faded for me already and the window trims I noticed the scratches there as you mentioned and paint is horrible lol all my front is like how you have but worse and I only got 14k miles, so yes hopefully Hyundai see those recommendations and issues and can do recall and make those cars more valuable and better.
    And my bad when you said warranty on trim, does that include with the warranty car comes with or? Like what kinda warranty this car comes with cuz I’m so lost and don’t get cuz the dealer had replaced my lug nuts free saying has warranty never knew that feel me?

    • @n-power-automotive
      @n-power-automotive  Рік тому

      The car comes with a 5 year/60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty which covers pretty much anything that isn’t considered a wear and tear item like brakes, tires, etc. The window trim should definitely be covered.
