Jackson is about to turn 76! Great singer/songwriter combo. “Doctor My Eyes” is still my favorite. Many hits like “Somebody’s Baby”, “The Pretender”! 🤘🔥
Doctor My Eyes is an interesting song. Its very relevant to what is going on in our world today. Especially on the Hollyweirdo community. Love me some Jackson Brown!
Your man on the slide , the great David Lindley RIP. Could make anything with a string sound beautiful. First saw him hanging off the stage playing a violin in my face , very early 70s Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne concert
The gentleman that you referred to as “my man” is actually the late great David Lindley. He was in total command of so many musical instruments that he has been referred to as a “maxi-instrumentalist. One of a kind. RIP Sir 1944-2023 😢
I love this song and Jackson Browne!! I've been a fan since the early 70's and saw him live at a No Nukes concert in Santa Fe New Mexico! Joe Walsh was special guest and it was amazzing!! It's definitely worth starting at the beginning of Jackson Browne's song list and continue right up to today, he's still out here doing his wonderful thing!!! Thanks for another great reaction video!
Besides the ones you have already watched, I have always really loved "Here Come Those Tears Again" and "Doctor My Eyes". He has so many great songs to chose from you can't go too wrong.
Ditto re man of God ! Atta boy! So… Jackson Brown kinda gave the world what became the California Sound, which begat the Eagles, Poco, Linda Ronstadt etc…lovely man that everybody who knows him loves. His band (not all here in these performances but on most of his records) is Legendary: Leland Sklar on bass, Russ Kunkle on drums and Danny Kortchmar on guitar. All studio musicians that have played on half the songs we’ve ever heard (almost!). These are latter-day Wrecking Crew cats. You’ll need to know about the Wrecking Crew if you don’t buddy. Thanks for the great reactions!
For a Dancer, These Days, In the Shape of a Heart, The Pretender, Fountain of Sorrow, and Your Bright Baby Blues. Saw Jackson for the first time in 1978. Seen him many times after that including last year. Still brilliant.
Jackson's "Running on Empty" album is a real gem beginning to end . Recorded on the road in concert halls , on busses & in hotel rooms and it holds up so well nearly 50 years later . In fact , guess what album is going into my cars CD player while I'm running errands this afternoon 🙂
Jackson is quite the musician also if you remember the load out and stay he was on the piano and this one he is on the guitar and nobody can compare to his lyrics
Jackson is a genius and has so many great hits. He has the unique ability to combine great music melodies with introspective lyrics. There are many songs from his 1974 seminal album, “Late For The Sky” that you’d LOVE. Two of my favorites are “Fountain of Sorrow” and “For A Dancer”; songs that will move by their beautiful lyrics and melodies. You’re discovering why so many of us love his music and the messages in his songs. You should have the lyrics pulled up to get the full effect of the meanings in his songs.
The creativity and longevity of Jackson Browne has been greaat for people who love music as well as people for whom it is a more casual thing, or don’t realize how much they love music. Thanks for doing this one, Steven.
So glad I found your channel. Your reactions are musically intelligent and to the point. Some reactors ramble on and on. I also appreciate that you bring your faith into it. Very inspirational. Thank you.
1977 was a great year for albums and tours. I spent all spring on tour with the Grateful Dead. Jerry Jeff Walker released his double album A Man Must Carry On. Clapton released Slowhand. Jackson Brown released Running On Empty and there were so many more.
Please do "The Pretender." Guaranteed to blow you away. Also "These Days," written by JB when he was SIXTEEN years old! Another great one is "Here Come Those Tears Again," which he co-wrote with the mother of his former wife who had taken her own life.
My favorite Jackson Browne song is Before The Deluge. A song to listen to right after that is Where Do The Children Play (Live Earth Tour 1976) by Cat Stevens.
There is no studio version of this song. The entire album (Running on Empty) was recorded live while on tour in 1976. This is the opening number and the Load-Out/Stay was the closer. Some songs were recorded on stage while others were recorded back stage, in hotel rooms, even on the tour bus while driving down the highway. It was conceived of and produced at a time when technology had just reached a point where a live recording could approach the quality of a studio performance. Frampton Comes Alive I believe was the first live album released with all original material. Running on Empty may be the second...
Russ Kunkel on drums...legend that played on dozens of artists records throughout the 70's and 80's. Him and Lee Sklar (long gray bearded guy you've seen playing with James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Phil Collins, Genesis...etc) were a dynamic duo in the 70's.
@@setonhillstudios funny thing about that song, he was writing it while Glen Frey and Don Henley (from the Eagles) were living in the apartment above him (they just moved to LA). Don was quoted as saying he wanted to kill him because every morning he heard Jackson singing it over and over again. FYI the hit song Take It Easy was a song originally written by Jackson Browne but he hit a wall. Glen asked him if he could have it and then finished writing it.
It's insane that this is live. Some bands would kill to sound this good in the studio with multirack etc. Not a backing track to be found. I miss artists that can do it live as great as these guys can.
You know those Country & Western sit-down pedal steel guitars? This is a “Lap steel guitar” and is similarly played with a slide, also its compact with less strings and has no pedals.
