*You can support the channel with UA-cam Channel Memberships or through Buy Me a Coffee. Never expected, but always appreciated.❤Links in Description!* What a performance!! Mickey's vocals are insane and the whole band brought it!! 🔥
Love this duet so much! I regularly search to see if any new reactions have been posted, so I was super excited to see this on my feed this morning❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
To quote Charlie Daniels "Elvin Bishop sittin' on a bale of hay, a'int good lookin' but he sure can play". From Charlies " The South's going to do it Again". An homage to southern rock. Worth your while.
I think this was a one hit wonder but it was a huge hit back in the day. Wolfman Jack!!!! Dr. Demento’s music hour just came back as a memory for some reason. Used to listen to that when I was a pharmacy technician because the pharmacist knew all things cool music We would work on the weekends and holidays together and just have a freaking blast. (Alice’s restaurant, anyone?) There was also a “bad music hour” that would be broadcasted on the radio at about the same time and I cannot even tell you how much joy that brought me as a teenager If you have never heard the bad music that Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner have created, you should check that shit out! ❤
Elvin Bishop features on George Thorogood 's ...One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer...live at The Capitol Theatre (I think it's The Capitol)..you are gonna raise your arms to that one!!✌️💞
Awesome classic tune. Elvin Bishop is an awesome guitarist. I am thinking of another amazing musician, George Thorogood. There is a video of George and his band playing the song 'One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer' live. He invited Elvin Bishop on stage to play with them. I highly recommend that you watch that live video, think you might like it!
🔥🔥🔥🔥 to me this is one of the greatest songs ever iny 60 yrs of listening to music. Mickey Thomas is one of the greatest singers ever, he's about 75 and GOING STRONG!!! was recently in Wilkes Barre PA with Starship and brought down the house. I tried getting info on the female singer believe her first name is Lita. Elvin is a terrific guitar player.
The voice of Wolfman Jack strings together the movie American Graffiti some of the best music of the 60s and the teen culture of the time. If you haven't seen it, check it out. If you have, why not watch it again. Ron Howard, Harrison Ford, Cindy Williams, Richard Dreyfuss, Paul LaMat, and so many others.
Elvin Bishop ( brown suit/sheriff) wrote this song, but didn't think his gravelly voice was suited for it. He had backup singer Mickey Thomas sing it. Mickey was in this band for 3 years.
I was a kid in the 60s and a junior and high schooler in the 70s. Got to hear some of the greatest music as a kid in the 60s and graduated to the 70s! Then the 80s! There will never ever be as many great artists and musicians again!
Around 1992 I was at a Christmas party in an apartment in Walnut Creek, California with Mickey and some band members from an old San Francisco bay area band called Pacific Brass & Electric. They would shortly after get a judge ruling to use the Starship name. Mickey is a small man but his voice is powerful. Without amplification he sang over all the guys in the band.
There's a song by Molly Hatchet called 'Gator Country' where they sing about many of the bands during their era. They mention Elvin Bishop and the female singer. I could never understand what they called her. I think it was a nickname that she had. It's definitely worth a listen. It's the first song by Molly Hatchet that I ever heard. BTW The woman here is Reni Slais.
Elvin of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band - but overshadowed here by one of the most dynamite lead singers in rock. I think I would take this over Starship anyday, actually.
I learn something new every day. Didn't know the singer's name and certainly didn't know he joined up with Jefferson Starship on one of my favs by them, Jane. At some point you have to see Elvin team up with George Thorogood for a live performance of, One Bourbon, One Scotch, One beer. One of the most epic dual guitar jams of the century. You'll LOVE his band too!! I know you're gonna tell how locked tight they are, bc they are. Amazing live performance. And George is no joke on that guitar either. He IS a bad man - right to the bone. 😂😂
Yes, wearing the gold star. Every time that I hear his name I'm reminded of the late, great Charlie Daniels song: The South's Gonna Do It Again. "Elvin Bishop sittin' on a bale of hay He ain't good lookin', but he sure can play".
I saw Elvin and Mickey play this live in 1977 in Tulsa,Oklahoma where Elvin had moved to as a kid.It was a great concert.Elvin does sing and he was with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band.Travelin' Shoes is another good one by Elvin. He is 81 and I think he is still playing.
Yeah you're right Elvin, is the guitar player, Mickey, is singing I believe Elvin, had Mickey to sing because he didn't think it was the kind he could sing good enough but Mickey did a hell of a Job on it. Elvin, is the guitar player in the brown suit
Mickey’s voice on this- phew! This was the year I graduated from high school and left for college. I don’t mind dating myself, good times for music and adventures. The Midnight Special was so great-no way to record it though, had to catch it live without waking up your whole family LOL
Yep, Elvin Bishop on the guitar, a brilliant blues player who played with Paul Butterfield back in the '60s. With Mickey Thomas on vocals, he ventured into pop/rock territory with amazing results!
Elvin Bishop is the gentleman in the bronze suit with the red hollow body guitar. Elvin is from a small Bay Area town not far from me. Mickey Thomas wrote the lyrics and melody. Elvin only wrote the guitar parts.
Oh yeah this was the next logical step after Jefferson Starship's "Jane". Micky's vocals are out of this world. Yes, Mickey is singing. Elvin is in the tan suit with the sheriff's badge & red guitar. Adding: since I don't see where anyone else has answered, Mickey was in Elvin's band as a backup singer. Elvin asked him to do lead vocals on this song. The lady singing with Mickey is named Reni Slais. I 'think' she was also a backup singer in Elvin's band.
Loved this song for decades and it's part of my guitar practice rotation. Can't believe I didn't recognize the voice of Jefferson Starship's Mickey Thomas.
What a voice!!! (not too shabby in the looks department either 😋 😊) One of my favorite videos and glad you reacted to it. No matter how many times I've seen it, never tire of it. Really enjoy that you tell us in your reactions, in musician's nomenclature, what vocal and instrumental techniques being used are called.
If you like Starship ( all 3 versions of the band are great) you need to do Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now and Sorry Me, Sorry You. Craig Chaquico is the lead guitar player for Starship and he is incredible!
That's one of the baddest women in rock. Still have the poster that was on my wall in highschool. 56 now. Seeing this reaction, might just put it back up. Have to ask the wife. 😂
Great song! There's an unfortunate story attached to it... It was written for a lovely lady Bishop was married to. They eventually divorced, and years later she and their daughter were murdered. There's an episode of one of the true crime shows that tells the story. I want to say "Forensic Files" but I don't really remember exactly. It was a crazy story and very sad.
Elvin is still going strong at 81, playing shows when he feels like it. I had the chance to see him and his guys The Big Fun Trio (of which he's 1) perform last year at Rancho Nicasio, a roadhouse turned venue in the countryside north of San Francisco, not far from where Elvin and his cohort in this performance both live. He's still got it. This video I'm linking to is from October 2019, when he performed my favorite song of his, "What The Hell Is Going On?", accompanied by his old buddy Charlie Musselwhite (who's 80 himself) on harmonica. Listen to the lyrics he wrote. They're even more pertinent today than they were then. ua-cam.com/video/xsfUhaudgvY/v-deo.html
I could easily be mistaken, but the guitar player with the cowboy hat looks a lot like Dicky Betts of the Allman Brothers Band. I once met Dicky, and he was this tiny little thing. He came up to about my chin, and I'm not tall! Dicky usually performed wearing a cowboy hat.
Let's Gooooo! Such an amazing groove. Please Please check out Battlescar. Great reaction and Peace out Steven 🙏 ✌️ ☮️ BTW The Guess Who does a great song called Clap for the Wolfman a tribute to him. Great reaction and Peace out Steven 🙏 ✌️ ☮️
Knew you'd dig this live performance and your analysis is always refreshing coming from a musician background. Spot on as always bro. Yeah Mickey is phenomenal. Alvin's playing tastefully done as you say. "Bring it"..."Let's go". And honestly anything you can dig up from SNS is always fire.
The drummer here ended up in Jefferson Starship with Micky Thomas and beat Micky's ass one night and got fired, lol. It's only rock n roll, but i like it, lol.
I haven't heard this song in years but when I saw this video, I had to share it. Foreigner - I Want To Know What Love Is (1984) /Shriners Hospitals for Children ua-cam.com/video/ns54e0hKByo/v-deo.html
Just added this song to my Qobuz playlist Alvin also did an instrumental only version worth checking out! Have you reacted to any Ambrosia songs? So many great bands from the 60's & 70's

What a performance!! Mickey's vocals are insane and the whole band brought it!! 🔥
True and Honest Talent! NO (zero, zip, Nada) auto-tune. IMPRESSIVE! Wow!!
Love this duet so much! I regularly search to see if any new reactions have been posted, so I was super excited to see this on my feed this morning❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
I THANK GOD for the music of the 70's and Midnight Special!! Wish we had new music like this today!! Proud to say I grew up with THIS music!!❤❤🎉🎉
The midnight special was so important. For people who didn’t get to see a lot of live music it was just magical.
The way he just floats from one register to another blows me away! It's just so smooth and lovely, and so much harder to do than most people realize.
You are correct THAT is Elvin Bishop!
When I hear Mickey’s voice, the only word that comes to mind is… DAMN!!!
💯🔥🔥
To quote Charlie Daniels "Elvin Bishop sittin' on a bale of hay, a'int good lookin' but he sure can play". From Charlies " The South's going to do it Again". An homage to southern rock. Worth your while.
Yep Mickey Thomas was terrific.
I think this was a one hit wonder but it was a huge hit back in the day.
Wolfman Jack!!!!

You sure would look cute in that auto mechanics outfit. :-) Seriously though, a total classic song. Singer has a sick set of pipes.
You can hear Wolfman on a track called Hit the Road Jack by The Stampeders, great Canadian 70s band.
Elvin Bishop features on George Thorogood 's ...One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer...live at The Capitol Theatre (I think it's The Capitol)..you are gonna raise your arms to that one!!✌️💞
This song was slow dancing heaven and a few twirls and dips!!!
I Use to watch it all the time.❤
Awesome classic tune. Elvin Bishop is an awesome guitarist. I am thinking of another amazing musician, George Thorogood. I've watched other reactions on Elvin Bishop people automatically thought Mickey was Elvin Bishop 👌👍🤣
remebr vis frm my childhood, he an sing!
Yes, that's Elvin playing the red 1959 Gibson ES-345 he named it "Red Dog" and has been playing it for over 50 years.
I know Steve Perry is called The Voice, and well deserved...but you have to put Mickey up there
Elvin Bishop ( brown suit/sheriff) wrote this song, but didn't think his gravelly voice was suited for it. He had backup singer Mickey Thomas sing it. Mickey was in this band for 3 years.

a banger with both Elvin and Mickey sharing lead vocals is Miss Slick Titty Boom
Live, no auto tune, great performances by Mickey and the girl singer. Micky rocking a boiler suit like no other.
Love love this song. On my playlist. ❤️🎶
That's Mickey Thomas singing the lead... from Valdosta, GA. He later was in the group Starship (Jefferson Starship) with Grace Slick.
Live music on The Midnight Special was.....special.
A great song! The female singer is Reni Slais.
Donnie Baldwin on drums and backing vocals - he was also in Starship
Yes, you show great appreciation for a superb performance that will never die.
Around 1992 I was at a Christmas party in an apartment in Walnut Creek, California with Mickey and some band members from an old San Francisco bay area band called Pacific Brass & Electric. They would shortly after get a judge ruling to use the Starship name.

I wish all reactors felt the same way about
live performances. What you lose in perfection you gain in passion.
I agree!!! 💯
Absolutely brilliant and true!
Thanks for sharing!
Such a great performer and delivery of this tune!
Elvin of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band - but overshadowed here by one of the most dynamite lead singers in rock. I think I would take this over Starship anyday, actually.

This performance was outstanding!
So good!! 🔥
Such Amazing Vocals
🔥🔥🔥
Elvin on the guitar yes, I think he is in the RNR Hall of Fame 3 times for various bands
Elvin Bishop is on the far left of stage playing guitar. And yes, Mickey sings lead here.
Yes, wearing the gold star. Every time that I hear his name I'm reminded of the late, great Charlie Daniels song:
The South's Gonna Do It Again.
"Elvin Bishop sittin' on a bale of hay
He ain't good lookin', but he sure can play".

Tulsa girl here. 60s and 70s were fire in Tulsa. Just sayin.
Such a great f***ing song!
Oh theres Wolfman Jack!! OMG the memories!!
Saw Mickey Thomas when he fronted Starship. They opened for Kansas. Only concert that I went that I had a front row seat.
This is so very awesome. Elvin could definitely play that guitar. Mickey could sing so good. Love your reaction!
Thanks so much! So glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
An absolutely great song. 👍👍.
Yeah you're right Elvin, is the guitar player, Mickey, is singing I believe Elvin, had Mickey to sing because he didn't think it was the kind he could sing good enough but Mickey did a hell of a Job on it.
Elvin, is the guitar player in the brown suit

Wolf Man Jack...The Midnight Special... Before Don Kirshner's
Rock Concert. Lol
Elvin started out with Mike Bloomfield in the Butterfield Blue Band
Elvin Bishop is the gentleman in the bronze suit with the red hollow body guitar. Elvin is from a small Bay Area town not far from me. Mickey Thomas wrote the lyrics and melody. Elvin only wrote the guitar parts.
The late great Charlie Daniels had a song with a lyric that said, Elvin Bishop is sittin on a bale of hay, he aint good lookin but he sure can play!!!
In his later years he sang it down right handsome but he sure can play
". . . and you can't forget, that ole' brother Willy's gettin' soakin' wet."
You always bring a smile to my face. The way you point out the intricate parts of a song is just wonderful! ❤✌️
Thanks for the kind words!! 😁
Wolfman Jack was great in American Graffiti. Awesome movie.
Great song and performance.
Oh yeah this was the next logical step after Jefferson Starship's "Jane". Micky's vocals are out of this world. Yes, Mickey is singing. Elvin is in the tan suit with the sheriff's badge & red guitar. Let’s Go ! Elvin on the Red Guitar 😊
Loved this song for decades and it's part of my guitar practice rotation. Can't believe I didn't recognize the voice of Jefferson Starship's Mickey Thomas.
Great song and reaction
Rene Slais, on harmony.
😍🌹😍
Thanks for reading the comments!! Love Mickey’s voice!!🤘🔥
I try to go through as many as I can! His voice is incredible indeed! Thanks for hanging out! 😁
My all time favorite ballet. Breakup songs usually aren't this up beat. Liked that twist about it
Elvin Bishop is the one in the corduroy suit.
You should check out "Jane" by Starship. Excellent vocals from Mickey and a real banger!
It’s on the channel! Absolutely loved it! 🔥
@@setonhillstudios Ah, okay :)
I love Mickey in Starship singing Sara.
❤

Elvin Bishop actually wrote this song when he fell in love
Mickey was 🔥🔥🔥

So good!! Thanks for watching and have a great week! 😁
Thank You!
The culture, ie. the perms!! 😂❤
Gotta love the perms!!! 😁
I love the way that women moves! Women of today could learn from watching her. You don't have to grind or shake anything!
...and when Mickey gets finished with this lovely song, he has to rush back to Jiffy Lube to return his jumpsuit. And EB is on the 335.

Female singer - Reni Slais
Elvin Bishop.................the Bad Boy of Boogie!!
Great reaction; one of my all-time favs. Well done.
Thanks Milton! Have a great day! 😁
Love this song!!
Hope the next one is George Thorogood & the Destroyers with Elvin Bishop One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer live
Mickey Thomas is the GOAT! I hope “Jane” was the one you listened to from Jefferson Starship, if not check it out. 🎼♥️
It was “Jane” and boy did it blow my mind!! Great tune!! Thanks for hanging out! 😁
Travellin Shoes is a banger. Oh Yea.

Really appreciate it! They tore it down on this performance! So good!! 🔥
this was in guardians of the galaxy.
THIS version OF THE Elvin Biship band was short lived, he is more of a blues guy, check out, Blues Train and my Favorite My Dog
The drummer here ended up in Jefferson Starship with Micky Thomas and beat Micky's ass one night and got fired, lol. It's only rock n roll, but i like it, lol.
Anutha jam!
Maiden is still going strong today

I haven’t! I’ll have to look into them! Thanks! 😁
So many guys had mustaches and thought they looked as good as Mickey, but most looked like porn movie producers instead lol.
His voice is incredible!
🤣😂🤣
