If you've got a Mark in your life, someone who hides their true emotions under a thick blanket of faux composure, Mark's outburst "I don't think you should go" to Jeremy when he walks back is actually quite poignant, it's one of the rare moments that we see mark desperately scramble to keep Jeremy's companionship, as he knows deep down he's got nobody else.
Mark doesn't want to lose his only friend - even though he's a waster.
I'm assuming that you are that faux-composure-blanketed friend.
It's a symbiotic relationship, jez gets to leech and mark gets to feel smart and better than jez lmao.

For the large majority of PS, Jez is Mark's only friend. M knows he'd be almost an outcast without J, so he suffers J in order to have a social life.
He isn't affected by those things as much as he pretends they do, because Mark simply doesn't love Sophie.
Because both times in a weird way it looked like it might benefit him!
Honestly jez nearly ruined this show for me i know what its supposed to be and that mark needs to suffer but suffering with a friend would be much easier to watch than suffering because of a friend

But sadly and slightly strangely Jez is more loyal to him than anyone out of Sophie, Dobbie etc. He just resigns himself to always having Jez around even though the very last line of the show is 'I simply must get rid of him'

Yet how come the "disorganised crack addict" managed to be the frontman for the Executioner's Bong, if only temporarily - whilst Jez kept getting disinvited from his own band, even if he dressed the part with the Zoot suit? Seems like Super Hans had it together more than cult disciple Jared.

They are both deviants on their own different ways: Mark is socially odd and Jeremy is a possible sociopath with learning difficulties. Although, you can certainly argue that Mark is less of a deviant because he has ability to work long-term; only if he had the required social conventionality he would've been considerably succesful.

If you have a bit of time on your hands you can splice together all the first person scenes of Sophie and pretend she’s talking to you on a date. It’s a bit of a disjointed conversation but it’s well worth doing. I’ve taken my laptop to pizza express and had a lovely time, the best thing was the bill was half of what it could have been, result!

I've always felt that there's a possibility that Jez felt a bit hurt or rejected with when Sophie replied "No, nor me", like he probably would have liked it if he had his moral high ground of not wanting to do that again, but the feeling of being desired that would come with the other party wanting to do it again. Maybe I overthought it, though.
She never wanted him in the first place. It was just a rebound.

Trying to workout what game they have running on the TV. It's hooked up to Mark's computer which is showing the same screen. Possibly a PS1 emulator. Sounds like orchestral music so an RPG of some kind. Perhaps an overworld map on screen with fixed UI icons around it. Yeah I like to avoid uncomfortable situations too. Any suggestions would be great.
