If Jeremy is classed as a tenant then it would be illegal. Tenants have a reasonable expectation of privacy and the cameras are setup throughout the home. Also tenants should be notified of any security cameras on the property. Hidden cameras are definitely illegal where tenants are concerned.
I agree with you & have heard many people say that she almost ruined PS. She's only fun in her first ep, so the fandom for her is bizarre. She's the only character who's in PS for too long. There's a consensus that Dobby-free s4 is the peak of PS & Dobby-dominated s8 is its low point. It makes no sense that the writers chose to write out most of the entertaining characters as they made her worsen & become more prominent.
I think the stationery cupboard scene was such a party in the pants that it was hard to judge her objectively after that. It took a while for the glow to wear off for me but eventually I did find her annoying. She started off really cute and kooky but ended up a bit selfish, sanctimonious and whiney.
S9 e2, Gregory's Beard, the only ep of Gregory, who is perhaps the most disappointing one-off character in PS. This storyline is better than the main one involving Mark-Dobby-Gregory.
I was part of the Dobby club when Gerrard and Mark had their beef about her. It was great but they made the classic mistake of kinda freezing her character traits and then recreating new scenes with basically the same dobby stuff again and again. In the end I had to ff the dobby scenes as she had become insufferable. At the beginning she was the only person making up her own mind at work. Huge heart and Immune to everyones charm she just approached people like she felt it right. Fantastic contrast to Sophie. B with this nerd loveable side. Then they never changed anything about her other than in the end made this hipster cool anti girl out of her that later came across more like a dumb bimbo following trends . Her character overstayed his welcome, With development like other side characters she could have stayed fun and instrumental to the show.

Dobby's latest major change in personality & appearance here is the most bizarre. She's in her 30s; she's not an adolescent trying to work out her identity & style.
I personally thought the show went down hill after S1. I can laugh at some scenes from later series but the show lost its nuance and quirkiness. S1 you could somewhat relate up the characters and it felt realistic. Jeremy eating a dog was when I stopped watching. Flanderisation
