So brilliant, great actor, great great director , we all have our flaws, if your living your flawed, no one is perfect ,we try , still love him though.
Humble, real, hyper-intelligent, sensitive, erudite. I mean, the man remembers John Clothier, a camera operator who shot the flying sword in "Braveheart" way back when. But then he never fails to give credit to his crew. Great interview.Thanks.
It does speak to his character. I never jumped on the bandwagon of hating him, I never felt like he deserved all the hate he got. Chide the guy, make some jokes and move on, he was drunk. But, well said man.
Agreed. Gibson has had his past demons, but he's honestly a decent human being...I've always appreciated his movies, his humility, and his willingness to tell primal, unusual stories that other people wouldn't touch. Hacksaw Ridge was incredible, and I hope that this gives Mel the comeback he deserves.
@@KatharinaK117 I thought the interviews of Mel that "Stranger than Fiction" captured in his compilation of Shia La Bouf and Mel was amazing and exciting
My goodness, Mel Gibson is so humble and remembering peoples names who are not famous, but recognizes and appreciated their loyalty, or having had a good times together. His very good looks I believe got him into this industry, and his intelligence and daringness, and of course, his talent makes him an exceptional rare individual. Loved the interview!
Oh man...I didn't want this interview to end. Mel is a genius and the way he talks with so much passion and knowledge - he's so intelligent and charismatic...you just can't stop listening. I'm so happy he's back, I love him.
Hollywood lost 10 years of privilege, by do not having the most beautiful , inteligente, best actor, best person, best soul, with the biggest heart as well . Lord bless him always
Mel reached the lost in this world for Christ which is why the Lord has blessed him. He also never allowed himself to get into the evil side of Hollywood!! God bless this dear man and keep him away from those who try to hurt him .. He is one of a kind indeed.
That may be one of the best interviews I've ever seen. I don't think I've seen any "big name" put so much thought into every question. So much respect for Mel, warts and all.
I agree 💯 his films are great and acting incredible. The passion of the Christ was true art. And considering the event's; it's obvious that the devil 👿 did not want it made. Also really glad the way he portrayed John MacLean as a MacLean; fun fact John Maclean's names comes from the translation (MacLean- son of the servant of saint John)
The interviewer did a great job. Quick, informed and relevant questions that kept the convo going easily. You rarely hear Mel get this indepth with his career.
Once again, fantastic interview. It's good to see Mel back in the public eye. We're all human, we all make mistakes. He's no different, and hella talented to boot.
+savedfaves actually Ricky did Mel a favour by making jokes, because humor and jokes defuses the situation and lightens it. It lets people make the first step to deal and forgive.
fantastic interview. mel is clearly struggling with his headache all through, but soldiers on, answers every question diligently, respecting the interviewer's time and effort, same attitude is reflected in the quality of his films.
It's great to hear him talking about directing and comparing acting...he is very particular in his descriptions and not only talking hot air that has no point like so many others..very genuine with no filter or arrogance...tries always to shift the credit and the attention on others...so rare to see such successful talented people in Hollywood who are so humble

Yes, and it showed in the scene (HR) where Doss is lowered off the ridge. Doss appears to descend, then float, then ASCEND, all by changing the camera angle. Brilliant yet subtle allusion to hell, purgatory and heaven. BTW, nobody ever got shot on a Gibson set.

Robert Mitchum was encouraged by his sister as well to try acting at about the same age and he had the same reaction, it was just a lark, a goof, but went on to become one of the most iconic actors of his time just like Mel.
Just noticed the "dislikes" of this video and I can't understand any of them. How you can't like this interview if you're into movies and filmmaking???
I totally relate except my life has a different story of course, but as a guy from Australia that was born in the late 70's, open mind & a willingness to learn more. I would like to say he has something that I see & he's got a good soul that a Aussie bloke like me can see. Good luck with everything Mel.
AWESOME!!! Mel is always so entertaining, on screen as an actor and just being himself off screen, so animated! love it.. and of course behind the camera.!
I love your interviews with him. He seems like he would not be an easy interview but he opens up with you. He doesn't look that happy but he does open up and take the interview seriously which is good.
David Poland, you seem so relaxed and affable with some really profound talent. What's your secret? The results are some truly lovely interviews. Mr. Gibson seems so damn likeable and passionate and open. I especially love how he drops names of crew he worked with from years and years ago. Classy.
Great interview! Mel Gibson is remarkable. The man is a genius as both an actor and a director, truly the best of his generation in my opinion. I really love and respect his honesty and courage to speak his mind. His films will continue to speak to how good he is, timeless.
He seems so intelligent! Its a shame people who don't watch interviews like this only see what the media portrays or figure him as some of his characters that are not that deep.
Mel needs to do television. In this day in age, all the best storytelling seems to be done on cable. I heard he might be doing a western show with Kurt Russell and Kate Hudson about the Gold Rush. That would be so sexy
This just came up on my suggested videos, and it's one of the best film related interviews I have seen. I love his passion for movies, how he remembers everyone's names from decades earlier, his honesty and openness. Cool guy.

I worked in the film biz in Los Angeles “Hollywood” for 10 years in the Camera Dept. He's remaking The Wild Bunch. Can't wait. It's one of my favorites.
Mel has always been one of my favorites. His courage to produce outside the studios is impressive, both in Passion and Hacksaw Ridge. His inspirational movies are awesome.
He's so shy and so real and so intelligent... I favour his interviews over his movies.
Thanks so much for this video and for continuing to do these unbelievable interviews. I am incredibly grateful for them. Cheers to you! Will there perhaps be some composers coming up soon?
It was really a perfect conversation. Hope mel keep making great movies!
Mel is absolutely fascinating as well as honest and very very talented one of a kind i love all his stuff
Such an amazing guy.
He's a great actor ,not a saint ...Give him a break , enough is enough . He has done enough penance. Get back to work Mel! We miss you .
How do you know that he is not a saint? Yet?
Love this guy and his movies. Much respect Mr Gibson
One of the best interviews I have seen for Mil Gibson.
