Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!" - Розваги
Mel Gibson is one crazy MF but that crazy MF sure knows how to make awesome MF movies.
MFing eh!!
MFs should listen to this one mad, max MF! MFking great!
Preach!
for all the MFers who don't know what MF means, it basically means; Motherfucker, MF!
his movies suck balls, especially the "historical" ones. Biggest pieces of shit ever.
Yeah, he's a talented bastard. But a bastard still.
Apocalypto is still one of the most underrated movies to this day, IMHO. If any other director had done it, it would have instantly been declared a masterpiece. But, because it was Mel Gibson, it hardly got any recognition at all, let alone the accolades it deserved.
I loved that film also. I think it's one of his best.
That thing where the arrows are coming in, and it's all like coming from behind, and I was all like arrrrrr! with the wooosh wooosh and the looking over my shoulder. And I don't think I'm explaining this well? Good film.
Hispanic media and critics loved it, but otherwise you are correct.
I dig that film so much.
Absolutely, I was sad for days after watching that
As a child of a father who was a war hero, who later committed suicide because of PTSD, I'm grateful for Gibson to shine a light on our troops who risk their lives for us every day. If were going to give out awards, then we should have a ceremony for them, the true hero's!
Heroes? How they exactly risk their lives for you? Because they go to other counties and kill peope so you can steal what you like? Hm... you Americans would praise on the killers as long they don't kill in your country.
So ridiculous he has to answer in every interview something he said when he was drunk years ago. Guy is a talent and a legend
I mean it's not about being drunk, it's about having those thoughts which come out when drunk. They don't just materialize from an outside entity and then disappear.
Good people simple don't have those thoughts. Good thing Mel's positive attributes create good art I can appreciate.
@@YodatheHobbitexactly, it’s not like he accidentally drank racist anti semitic beer. 😂

Braveheart will never stop being amazing
That movie is the shit
One of the best movies ever made!
Used to like that movie, now I see it as too preachy
As awesome as braveheart is nothing beats Lethal weapon.
I haven't watched that one
I'm pleasantly surprised that Mel Gibson is back in the limelight in spite of the dominant demographic in Hollywood.
Scramblieggs you want to hint that liberal jews control Hollywood? Then just say it. The Internet is made for offensive opinions like that.
Bliefking They largely do, and I never said there was necessarily anything wrong with that. Not sure what's so offensive about it. Are you antisemitic?
and i think we _all_ know who that demographic is....
rich people!
They control it and are doing a heck of a job.
Same here. Hes easily my favorite actor of all time and while I don't agree with what he said, he shouldnt have been ostracized for it.
I stand with Mel Gibson. I hate that he's treated like this.
wat
I agree everyone has there moments and they came make amends and comeback as a good person love him
Are you forgetting what he said at the end of Apocalypto? Made an entire movie that may or may not have been historically accurate, and then suggested that the movie depicts the reason why the mayans were defeated by the Spaniards. Nevermine superior firepower and smallbox. I'm sure they weren't at all involved.
Treated like what? Colbert clearly respects him as an artist.
@Robert Puffer Oy vey
MEL ,YOU'RE MOST COURAGEOUS ACTOR AND MOVIE DIRECTOR ON THE PLANET!
Why the fuck bring this shit up? Dude it's been a long time, he's a legendary actor/ director. Let bygones be bygones.
Yeah, even as a Colbert fan and not a Mel fan, I thought he was being kinda rude.
Dinglebarriez It's the elephant in the room It's almost insulting to not mention it to an extent
Why let bygones be bygones? I don't see a reason to and Mel hasn't bothered giving me a reason to. So for the time being I choose not to and am happy with my choice.
You can bet your ass that Mel agreed to talking about that before he came on.
No the difference was that Interviewer was being rude about it and trying to gauge a reaction. He said rude remarks to him and basically dissed the movie he was trying to promote. That guy deserved an ass kicking.
Mel Gibson is a very smart guy, very witty. A lot of people don't get his wit.
I watched an interview with Sean Penn on stage last year and thought the same thing. Not surprising that they're working together on a project.
VALENTINEproductions You mean like the Jew?
Yes! Yes! deutschland! deutschland!
I guess nowadays the US has a fairly bigger right-wing-problem than germany...
ninja, Maybe you're the problem..
Stephen you disappoint me. Mel Gibson deserved a better interview.
It went pretty well, he was being honest with Mel and it works well in Mel's favor. Mel did what most people don't, is to deal with their issues or mistakes, take responsibility and grow up, that's why now he has more clarity and wisdom. This is what makes a real man.
.. at least he dindn' t play BEER PONG like dumbass Fallon does with his guests but hey, everyone has the choice to like what they like.
Steven had Mel on to make him look bad...Thats what Hollywood tries to do to Mel these days. Hollywood cannot let it go.
Don't you realise by now that hosts like this feel the show is ALL ABOUT THEM and the guest merely window dressing.
Satanists agenda
Just watched this last night and it was a beautiful film. Thank you mel gibson for making this film and shedding light on this truly inspiring hero.
you can see this bad racist
Colbert: "We gotta talk about about the elephant in the room"
Gibson : (Oh god not those drunk Jewish comments coming back to haunt me)
Colbert: Your beard.
Gibson: (Thank you baby Jesus)
Wilbur Jenkins
Wilbur Jenkins You felt the need to explain the really obvious joke? OK, this is a youtube audience.
Wilbur Jenkins I think Colbert was disrespectful to Mr. Gibson. Colbert can be an A-Hole at times.
Wilbur Jenkins Thank you for reminding me they're actually both good actors
Thanks for explaining the obvious joke.
I know Stephen had to address the "elephant in the room", but you can see that Mel is simply not comfortable with talking about it and he never has been. As soon as he starts talking about his film and the story surrounding it, he lights up with passion and enthusiasm. I hope in the future the media manages to move on from what he did 10 years ago and focus on his art.
olgil yes, it seems to be a very awkward and tense interview. I'm a big fan of Gibson, but I think that he has pulled the right strings in hollywood to be "forgiven", maybe that includes some of these interviews where he has to support the "elephant in the room". Hopefully is a matter of time until he can speak only about his wonderful art.
There is nothing surprising to either of the two participants in this interview. Do you really think they don't go over what they are going to talk about before hand?
Shawnee Anderson I know they always go over the topics ahead of time on shows like this, and it's expected that it would get brought up. I was just saying that I hope in the future he won't have to cover the controversy every time he does an interview. He's talked about it countless times and it's been so long, I feel that it's time to move on from it because he has nothing new to say about it.
olgil how does one expect him to be comfortable about it ?
Everyone knows talk shows are rehearsed, but that has nothing to do with what I was saying.
I was saying that I hope in the future the media in general can put Mel Gibson's massive mistakes behind him. It was 10 years ago, yes what he said was gross, yes we all know about it. But he isn't comfortable talking about it, and I don't find it interesting hearing him still having to talk about it after all these years.
It doesn't matter if it's rehearsed or not, I know that he knew beforehand that he would have to talk about it. That doesn't matter. I was saying that I don't want to read about it anymore in articles, see it talked about by news outlets, or see him talk about it in interviews. It's old news, and frankly boring. He has been re-embraced by the film industry after being a pariah for 10 years, so let him talk about what he is there to promote and actually wants to talk about.
Gibson is really quick conversationally, always has been.
He is unbelievable
he is fighting with him. trying to let him know he knows about his crimes against innocent children. THESE PEOPLE ARE SICK. wwg1wga
BlackAfternoon stop parroting that Trump imbecile
Typically Aussie, no BOLLOX just the subject matter.
The werewolf quip was great.
He PUT HIS LIFE ON THE LINE for everybody else, and that's the definition of ULTIMATE LOVE.
He's said some shitty, indefensible shit before (and fuck all the people praising him for it), but he seems legitimately apologetic and and he's definitely good at his work so we should give him a chance
He spoke out against Jew controlled Hollywood and they tried to bury him for it.
Laser Meme See, your one of the people I'm talking about. Even Mel knows what he said was just drunk ramblings, and you still try to use him to justify you're bigotry
Laser Meme connecting Jews to Marxism, that's the oldest trick in the handbook for antisemitism. Either that or they control global capitalism. Most of the time they do both.
And is your comment about interracial porn about white people and black people having sex meant to be racist or do I just don't understand your point?
Trick? Well it's straight up true..
+Vape Naysh I agree. He seems genuine and as Stephen said he's been a pariah for several years. People can actually change, though I'll grant it is rare, and, at least in my eyes, he has payed his dues so he deserves a second chance.
After all, people like movies from a guy who left his wife to marry his step-daughter (Woody Allen) and from a guy who abused kids (Polanski) and I don't think they are sorry for it, so why not give a chance to the guy who said some messed up shit but is actually sorry for it and actually has done nothing wrong other than saying something stupid?
Regardless of his prior mistakes, the man knows how to make a movie. He's an artistic marvel.
what exactly did he do wrong? what he was found to be over the limit driving? thats not a big deal.

Hacksaw Ridge is awesome 10 out of 10 thanks Mel for everything thanks Road Warrior
I never judged Mel Gibson, nor did I judge Shia Labeouf for his breakdowns or outbursts.
1. It's not in my place to judge someone I barely know, and only through cinematics.
2. They live a life in the spotlight, and so everything they do is on display.
3. If our "friend" had a tough time, we would help him/her through it.
Unless he raped, killed or otherwise did something similar of terrible nature - I don't care.
I recognize Mel for his skill/talent, and have been a fan of his work for many years.
very well said
Andy Moon Wow. Someone who actually made a comment using his cerebral cortex. That's a rarity on UA-cam.
I loved the way Colbert phrased it, "None of us are our worst moment."
People who are judging need to realize that this could have happened to any of us. Maybe not for the exact same reasons, but I bet you'd be hard pressed to find a person who hasn't done something the world would condemn them for in a less public setting.
That's wonderful. I agree with you. We always try to vilify others. Context and the body of work does matter. It doesnt overshadow horrific things, but we all should be fair
Thank you Sir...
he should star again in....MAD MARX!!
Mr. Tuow it's called a joke, look it up it's a real thing
He will get mad if you tell him he looks like Marx because...well we all know why.

Mel definitely has the crazy eyes, but he makes awesome movies, Apocalypto is one of my all time favorites. I'm looking forward to seeing Hacksaw Ridge.
NotAffiliated - visceral but you just can't look away.
Welcome back, Mel!
Apocalypto is awesome where there are time traveling Spaniard arriving in the smallpox existing Mayan civilization.
is Apocalypto in english or different language
Jalal It's using the Mayan language.
Why do people insist on talking about the past he's clearly moved on and apologised yet all these interviews just seem to want to bring it all back for him and piss him off.
They talk about his past because he still has never expressed remorse, not even in this interview. Arrogant as ever. And Colbert was lame to praise him.
“That moment shouldn’t define the rest of my life”. Wisdom
Only if he publicly expressed his remorse and asked for forgiveness. He never did. And not even on this show.
I still regret that he didn't have a cameo in fury road.
Even just a shadowy figure at the end saying, "that's my car" would have been good.
I'd like to think they'll have him in a future movie. I'd prefer a full role but I guess a cameo wouldn't be bad.
ineedmyhat He never will, George Miller said so himself. He said itll take people out of the movie
Tesla Death Ray It would've been a nice tip of the hat, a passing of the torch kind of thing..
With every other rebooted franchise doing that nowadays, I actually appreciate that Fury road held back.
I think Colbert asked the right questions and conducted a compelling interview. Just because some of the questions might seem a bit hard to answer doesn't make them bad questions.
A good interview always has to have hard questions, those are the ones the audience really want an answer to. At least imo.
Just an example. I don't want you to invite Kanye West to talk about his new album and how "good" he is. I want you to invite him to ask him "are you delusional or just trolling all of us" xD (not the best example since he'd either walk off stage or go on a rant but you get what I mean)
wish someone would ask him that question. Or ask DJ Khalid if he realises people are laughing AT him not WITH him.
I agree, but in the end these morons have fans. They are resonating with other idiots in this country. We can laugh AT DJ Khalid, but in the end he is making money off of people and he is legitimately hanging out with Beyonce and Jay Z and all those guys.
It's nice to see someone that isn't afraid to ask real questions. Colbert always steps up to the plate when it comes to confronting touchy issues and it's a huge part of what I admire about him.
I don't think Colbert is a good interviewer, pretty bad actually. He seems somewhat nervous and lacking in empathy in many of his responses to guests I've seen - especially this interview, talking about Gibson as a "pariah" when he hardly knows the guy. This was a weird interview and Colbert didn't handle it well.
Hacksaw Ridge is a very good and violent movie, one Of the bests war movies ever
Agree; might be THE best and Ive seen a ton of great ones.
Hacksaw Ridge was one of the best movies I've ever seen in a long long time. Everything was set up so perfectly imo and I'm very hard to impress with movies. I recommend that everyone should see it

There have always been dozens of great and active directors, it's the production companies your beef is with.
I have to applaud how he addressed his issues over the past 10 years, he definitely hit bottom and oddly enough one of the only Hollywood stars who publicly defended him was Robert Downey Jr. And that was because Mel was there for him in the late 90's early 2000's when he was tossed out of Hollywood and he was one of the few people there for him. If we can forgive Downey for all the shit he did, we can definitely forgive Mel. I'm glad to see he's happy, healthy, and most of all he's still acting and directing. Welcome back Mel :)

@@rickved pretty sure theres alot of backup to him regretting it.
I think Mel's right about the idea that no man should be defined by his worst moment, or we all end up looking like piles of shit. The guy has suffered from alcoholism all his life, and not everyone can understand that. I guess in the end, you can only know someone up close and in the flesh, otherwise all we are doing is spectating and nitpicking their every word and public thought. I can only hope he's conquered his demons.
I hated his guts until he started talking. I can't stay mad at Riggs.
Seriously, I love this guys work. Soooo many great movies would NEVER be the same without him. Sure he screwed up, but I WANT to believe he learned and tries to be a better man now. Because he sure as hell doesn't need to be a better filmmaker, because he is one of the greatest in my eyes.
He didn't screw up. He revealed his lack of character.
@@rickved I stand by what I wrote.
When Stephen says it may glorify war: That scene in Hacksaw Ridge when the soldiers arrive and look at the ridge that long rope ladder going up, with all the gunfire, and explosions on top, and then talk to the few surviving men who came down alive off the ridge, about the experience......To me that is more haunting then any horror film. And when they climb and the blood drips down....Because it's not some bogey man. That's a real life terror you're going into. Saving Private Ryan did a fantastic job of showing our vets hell in WWII going into D-DAY I'll saw Hacksaw Ridge truly showed what it was like for our WWII vets fighting in the pacific and taking islands. Equal hell.

Yusuf I agree don't get why people give him so much shit and donald trump is being freakin defended
Gossip didn't/isn't destroying his reputation, he destroyed it through his own actions. If you steal, you can't act like it's wrong for people to call you a thief. If you kill someone, you can't act like it's wrong for them to call you a murderer.

No one should be defined by their worst moment -- exactly! Mel Gibson is an excellent filmmaker and actor, I am glad he's made a comeback.
Its nice to see a man of this caliber show so much respect for veterans such a genuine person.
As a veteran I appreciate what he's trying to do. Though no movie will ever capture the full horrors of combat in war....One day virtual reality might come damn close but I digress.... As a Jew I don't really care for him as a person. As an artist I admire him immensely. I wish I had half of his acting and directing chops.
Debauchest lmao
I actually hope some media is able to some day accurately portray war. Maybe that would discourage people from being so hasty to get into conflicts...However I doubt they'll ever be able to, it's one of those things in live that only the people who have gone through it will really be able to understand. Some may come close, but I doubt it is possible to capture not the horrors, but the experience of living through them.
hahahahaha
***** I doubt you'd be laughing so much if several family members had died during war conflicts.
It's reasonable for him not to like Gibson considering what he said, however he is man enough to know you can dislike someone and still recognize their talent. I'm guessing that's more than can be said about you.
Before you call me that too, I'm not religious.
***** Really? That's the best you can do? You seem like a five year old learning new words.
So glad he's no longer being crucified by Hollywood (pun shamelessly intended). He has so much more to give to the art and I'm excited to witness it.
"I asked Mel to present this award for me for a reason. When I couldn't get sober, he told me not to give up and encouraged me to find my faith. It didn't have to be his or anyone else's, as long as it was rooted in forgiveness. And I couldn't get hired, so he cast me in the lead of a movie that was actually developed for him. He kept a roof over my head and food on the table and, most importantly, he said if I accepted responsibility for my wrongdoing and embraced that part of my soul that was ugly--hugging the cactus, he calls it--he said that if I hugged the cactus long enough, I'd become a man.
"I did, and it worked. All he asked in return was that someday I help the next guy in some small way. It's reasonable to assume at the time he didn't imagine the next guy would be him, or that someday was tonight. So, anyway, on this special occasion and in light of recent holidays including Columbus Day, I would ask that you join me, unless you are completely without sin, in which case you picked the wrong f--king industry, in forgiving my friend his trespasses and offering him the same clean slate you have me, allowing him to continue his great and ongoing contribution to our collective art without shame. He's hugged the cactus long enough."
-Robert Downey Jr. (2011)
It really shines a light on the type of person he is in real life. He strikes me as a very genuine person. He wrestles with demons like many of us, but he's also the type of guy who wouldn't hesitate to take time out from his busy life to help RDJ. I mean, he really took him under his wing when RDJ was at perhaps his lowest place in life. And he never talked about once, never wanted a pat on the back that so many others would have savored. But most importantly, he's a brilliant filmmaker and I'm very much looking forward to his future projects.
Yeah, he's like Jesus in that he got crucified after telling the truth and the people in power got afraid.
Mel Gibson is a very courageous man, and one of the best movie writers and amazing actor! Genius 👏🙏🔥

He's too old to pull off the physicality required to be Mad Max , would be good in a mentor / cameo role though

such a great movie. very cool of anyone to show that facet of war, but especially Mel, knowing he'd be going through another round of interviews and re-hashing of old mistakes.
So awesome to see Mel in the media for the right reasons! That's one talented dude! And yeah, a bad moment shouldn't define the rest of a person's life. It's been 10 years, goddammit!
how can you not like this dude. a great fucking director!!
his antisemitism comes to mind
And just how is he antisemitic? Because he directed the Passion of the Christ? That was not an antisemitic film. It simply told the story of Christ's crucifixion which was in fact because of the Jewish leaders. I remember at the time the movie came out, Jews were shaming Mel Gibson for antisemitism and saying that Christians would be lashing out at Jews and there would be riots...blah, blah, blah. Never happened because Christians understand that without the crucifixion of Christ we have no hope. Mel Gibson most certainly is not antisemitic. He simply told the biblical story.
Jaysen Gill Those are some wild conclusions you made there but I was referencing to his anti-jewish rants which included saying things like:
"Fucking Jews... The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world"
I'm surprised you haven't heard of this yet, just look up: Mel Gibson antisemitism. There's a lot of trash he said
So if he is so antisemitic, then why did he cast Andrew Garfield as the main character of his new movie who is a Jew?
Jaysen Gill That's not really an excuse for his past comments :/ He could have learned from his mistakes but I'm just saying that statements like those are why people might dislike him
Truly remarkable, and inspiring, the heroism of Doss.
Totally. Bad moments shouldn't define the rest of our lives. People need some grace to just better themselves. So glad to see Mel Gibson back.
I absolutely agree with Mel. Having those recorded dark moment should not define his life. Call him what you will. However He is a brilliant story teller. I'm glad he's back. I have known many good people of all races and ages that I witnessed them saying deplorable, or disparaging things. It's so easy to judge others during dark moments. Maybe we could try to show more love, forgiveness, and understanding instead of buying into all hate much of the media tends to perpetuate. Usually the anger and hate others project is because they're in pain. Glad he's rebounding! Keep telling stories Mel!!!!
why was Colbert trying to make it awkward?
That's what he does. Colbert has a Ph.D. in subtle sarcasm and ball busting, and its almost always nothing personal; he just has fun with it. When you get a little free time, look up his interview with Eminem. The shit had me rolling.
That is what parts him from let's say Fallon who laughs like a silly boy at everything the guests say.
Colbert is a corporate tool, so he was trying to distance himself from Gibson in order to avoid any damage to his own reputation.
say what you want about the shit he he did in his past, but the man makes and performed in great movies. i saw hacksaw ridge and i'd be seriously surprised if no one won any form of an award for this movie.
Alcoholism and Anger. I wish to cure myself of these things as well.
Update: day 21 of sobriety and clean, happier than I've ever been. I wish anyone who wants to free them selves from the disease of alcoholism, to get state insurance and seek detox and rehab, but the first step is that you actually want to change.
You're doing a great job! Hope you stay sober for the rest of your life ❤
Johnny Law God bless you brother!
Hey man. I’m reading this 3 months later. How is your sobriety going?
That beard is fucking epic
Love mel gibson since the first movie he made and damn that beard suits him well!
I’ve never lost any respect for this man he is one of the all time greats of Hollywood
Very happy to see him back - he's a kickass director. Cannot WAIT to see this film...his voice though. So great.
Media was behaving like he killed someone. Fuck that!
We need a president with a beard like that
sirpsychosexy Rutherford B. Hayes
sirpsychosexy well, hillary can't and Donald probably won't.
We have one in Iran. Not as cool as you think
James A. Garfield
Jews would not let this happen.
Good audience
0:48 I was like don't say it!! then was so relieved haha
He had a great answer to Stephen's question about glorifying war. That was amazing.
Wow, Mel is really rocking a Karl Marx look with that beard...
I was kind of getting Charles Darwin and Pedro II vibes, even some Walt Whitman
Akshay Chan
racist Santa Claus....
Lol!
That´s redundant, you mean regular santa claus? Notice how kids in africa aren´t getting any gifts?
Just finished watching it! GREAT STORY AND AMAZING MAN!! Good job Mel 👍
Absolutely LOVE Mel Gibson!!! Outstanding Individual!!!!
Mel Gibson can't help but be a great artist despite his personal faults. Much respect to this mad genius with a relentless work ethic and well of talent.
im happy hes getting a second chance
Yeah he messed up, we need to forgive people.
The sad thing is the public never wanted him gone. There's always been a demand for his work. It's too bad how a few moralizers often get to make the decisions for everyone.
leetledrummerboy im pretty sure jewish people didnt want. Antisemitism will do that
Sure, there are some self righteous asshats that won't watch a movie because a guy who was involved in its production at one point said a thing they didn't like (spoiler alert btw that's every movie ever so to really live up to that dumbass standard you'd have to stop watching movies altogether).
Normal people would watch the movie anyways if it looked like a good movie. But the decision wasn't made by the actual movie buying public. It was made by a few powerful people who bullied him out of the industry cause they decided that kind of thing is their decision to make.
leetledrummerboy what shorty do??
Never had a wish to watch that movie but I do now. What a story
god love ya mr. gibson you were my hero of cinema growing up. and you are a good man.
Mel Gibson is awesome. Hes finally back. Been waiting for 10 years
I'm glad he's back :)
God bless our veterans. I would be curled up in a ball crying if I was in a combat situation.
I have yet to see "Hacksaw Ridge" but I want to. Mel is so erudite. He is not without a loss for words in explaining the film and answers Colbert's questions perfectly.
one bad mistake can define your life, just ask anyone in prison.
Trump seems to do good..... he does make more then one .... lol
Except this wasnt one incident, it was a series of racist tirades over the course of several years.
@elviade free speech is to protect you from being jailed for certain speech...was mel gibson ever jailed over his comments? you cant rant and rave about jews and expect jews to want to work with you...and i love braveheart, its my favorite movie and mel gibson is awesome but free speech is not freedom from consequence or public judgement of your speech
DWI and being a serial killer are different things.
💞🤗🍀
I love the Gibson
It's easily one of the best war films I've seen (and shows the relatively unknown story of quite the underdog hero)
That's amazing about the Movie. I didn't realize Desmond Doss did all that or that others followed in those footsteps.
That's a damn fine beard.
I never understood the self-righteous public condemnation of people like Mel Gibson or Michael Vick, particularly when otherwise beloved or ignored professional public figures like Donte Stallworth, Matthew Broderick, and Caitlyn Jenner ran people over with their cars and nobody gave a shit.
Todd Bollinger you don't understand how intent factors into when the public forgives somebody? I'm rooting for Mel, he's clearly an alcoholic and he's clearly struggling, but I'm think he can be a good person off the booze and under treatment, and his talent is boundless. How you can lump car accidents (whether dui or not) in with Vick, who did get many second chances and huge contracts I don't understand, malice has to factor into these things and
But you gotta admit, what Vick did to those dogs is pretty disturbing. He killed defenceless dogs who were "underperforming" Imo the condemnation of Vick at the time was deserved and I don't even like dogs. But he paid for his crime, did his time, and got another chance at the nfl.
the difference is he insulted a certain group of people who not only control the media and influence public opinion, but consider themselves beyond reproach.
With regards to Vick, I would wager that if he had done the same to, say, cats, no one would've given a shit, least not nearly as much. Moreover, killing dogs vs. killing people is not comparable by *any* stretch in my view, malice or intent be damned. That's just my moral stance on the matter, but I didn't realize how much of a minority view it may be.
Todd Bollinger The dogs that survived have to go through years of therapy. So yes dogs aren't humans but I consider his actions to be punishable. And they didn't treat him killing dogs the same way as manslaughter because Vick is not in jail right now. I think most people have forgiven Vick. Vick should thank his lucky stars that he got a second chance at the nfl. But everyone has a different sense of right and wrong so I understand your opinion.
I dont know how I just realized Mel Gibson directed Hacksaw Ridge.
The movie holds up against the greatest war movies of all time.
