Hi Paul, another great video from you, you are certainly keeping us busy with Midi Layers. There is one problem I have come across using mute groups, I have assigned the control keys to midi notes which works well, but if I restart the track half way through playing, the mutes are now operating when I don’t need them to. Pressing the “panic” tab resets all mutes, but is there a midi “reset” setting that I can place at the start of my tracks. I am using Cubasis3 on iPad Air 4. Mike.
All the mutes are exposed as AU params so you can set them up remotely. I admit it's harder to do this via a sequencer. So you want a way to turn all mutes off?

Hi Paul, since updating Cubasis 3 to v3.5.1, Layers now crashes all the time, and when it doesn’t crash-the layer’s becomes permanently muted? Any chance you could check it out with Cubasis3 if possible. Thanks

Hey Paul … thanks for asking. I really haven’t had an issue other than not taking the time to learn how to use Midi Layers for live performance. He is what I am trying to do and where I am in the process. Originally, I started using Scaler 2 for two purposes: first to feed chords into Midi Layers and second to take advantage of some of the built-in “performances” in Scaler. I now believe I would be better off using the sequencer patterns in Midi Layers instead of the performances in Scaler because I believe using the sequencer patterns in Midi Layers will allow me to take better advantage of the banks/scenes in Midi Layers. One of the things I will be exploring soon will be the best way to incorporate DigiStix 2 and keep everything in time. (as far as I know now, the AUM transport control is the only way to turn DigiStix 2 on and off but I haven’t researched that very much.) … one other question … in one of your videos you showed how to change presets in Synthmaster 2 from within Midi Layers. Will that also work for Copperhead? Thanks for any guidance.
@@djba Thanks for filling me in on your workflow. Sadly there is no such thing as a perfect world, and changing presets by sending the Program Change message on iOS is rarely implemented, even by me as iOS has better ways to deal with this issue that doesn't require splitting your presets into blocks and sub-blocks of 127 presets. This is however widelu adopted in hardware synths and drum machines. The only software I know that implement it are those which originated on PC such as SynthMaster, but I'm sure there must be others. It is on my list of updates for Copperhead, but doesn't currently support it.
Hi Paul, I have encountered a problem with the transpose function. I am using Cubasis 3 on iPad Air 4 iOS16.4.1. I have transposed three layers up by four semitones each layer so that my Novation Impulse61 will play in a different key, (G3 now plays B3, C4 now plays E4 etc) but the problem is when playing the keyboard, different notes randomly revert back four semitones to the original key. If I play notes G3 - C4, I actually hear G3 - G#3, but next time it will be different notes that drop back four semitones. Any chance you can check this out? I have closed all apps and relaunched them but the problem is still there. Thanks, Mike.
Are you sure you don't have a scale set, because if mode is anything other than Chromatic notes will be forced to their nearest valid note. In this mode only white keys can be played, since the scales all contain 7 notes I map them to white keys. This is really for people that haven't a clue about scales.

Are you trying to trigger ARP's in iM1 as if it uses any kind of chord detection it might be confused by trying to transpose by 4 semitones. It is fine to do octaves, but 4 semitones could be problematic. If you get chance send a short video link to info at 4pockets dot com and I will take a look.
No, I am just playing standard keyboard parts into Layers which is then directing the specific outputs to each individual synth app using Mute control layer inside Cubasis3. My Novation Impulse keyboard is set to midi channel 1, and because iM1 is also set to midi channel 1 in settings, perhaps the fact that my keyboard is transmitting directly from channel 1 and Layers is also transmitting on channel 1 at the same time ie, my keyboard is sending out a G3 note and Layers is sending out a transposed B3, I hope I have made sense of what I have just written.
If the iM1 is a going to be problem app to use in Layers, then not to worry, I can set up a second keyboard specifically for that app. As good as the large variety of iOS synth apps sound, the iM1 has the edge on all of them IMHO. I have tried contacting you through App Support but I am directed to a marketing company that gives no indication of music software, what is the best way to contact you ?

You can completely configure for any mapping, just though I'd make it easier and save time by giving a preset.

Yes please, I would be grateful if you could suggest a suitable method, I have tried many ways but the only way at the moment is the Panic tab.

There are AU oaraneters to switch bank and switch scene. The next version has parameters for next/prev bank for use with a footswitch.

Not really a genius just a head full of ideas!! It should be possible if you host both apps inside AUM for instance.

No, not currently. I did use this sequencer as the basis of Progressions so there is a possability perhaps in the future.
