This channel is way underrated
Agreed
Great review!! Most underrated UA-cam channel.
I appreciate that!
I saw this recently and I enjoyed it for how weird and ambitious. Lowery I thought did car chases well and Gleason was great.
Siskel is intentionally obtuse, the Klan were treated as a joke and villains. Buford was clear about hating them and took a chance to mock his wife.
It's clear it needed a lot of work.
Siskel came across as a joyless person.
I appreciated your review, quick and to the point.
Great thoughts by you. Agreed! Thanks good buddy! So very much appreciated. Cheers! Gator 🐊
@@GATORMcKLUSKYreviews I think you should review Spreed Zone:Canonball 3 as a Reynolds sequal wityout Reynolds.
It lacked the weird ambitionand rawness of Bandit 3. But it was well polished with Jim Drake directing. Thecar chases were okaay, but lacked the Needham energy, Te cast was good with John Candy and Eugene Levy.
Ticket for the wind. Great review
Thanks! Less of a review… more of a tribute! Cheers! Gator 🐊
There was also a gas station scene involving a robbery after Buford runs out of gas that was only in the tv edited version.
Ever get your hands on that?
@@GATORMcKLUSKYreviews yes. It's on youtube. I have the movie on an old VHS somewhere that I recorded off WGN in the early 90s as well.

@@pdennis93 thanks! That was great! Such politically incorrect dialog back then. Too funny!
@@GATORMcKLUSKYreviewsI have it.
i have it “ get outa here before i stuff a chewawa down ya throat” 😂😂
“Don’t worry, I hear he’s the next Sam Pekinpah.” Lol. Genius
Thanks! I thought I was the only one who laughed at that… I enjoyed looking up what Dick Richards had done in the past. Seems his highest moment was Barnaby Jones. What a dog shit director he was.
Great video @GATORMcKLUSKYreviews! While I am on the minority, I actually quite liked Smokey and the Bandit Part 3. I actually like it way more than 2 since it has a lot of hilarious comedy and car action, which made it feel more in tone with the first movie. I can completely understand why Burt Reynolds didn't want to do it, but I wish he could've just done one more in the character that made him a household name. Jackie Gleason did a great job returning to the role of Buford T. Justice, although I will say it was a poor choice for the studio try to have him play the Bandit but I would love to see that original cut of the film. Thankfully the studio brought Jerry Reed in for the reshoots that while not perfect, it was fun to see him in the movie and it seems he's having fun. The stunt driving was pretty good and a big step up from the 2nd film, not of course not as good as the first. I will say I really disliked the nudity in this movie as it was completely unnecessary, but I can always skip it on dvd and Blu ray. Plus my Father used to have a black and gold 82 Trans Am like the one in the movie. I am very grateful that Burt decided to stop by the set to say hello to his friends working on the movie and he was asked to do the cameo, which he agreed to do. A somewhat sad, yet satisfying last scene of Burt Reynolds and Jackie Gleason. I will say this movie and part 2 are nowhere near as bad as John Schneider's disappointing Stand On It movie that felt more of a remake than a homage to these movies. Not to mention he didn't get permission from Universal or the Burt Reynolds estate to do it, which makes it feel like a rip off. Me and a friend of mine have been conducting work on how many Trans Ams were used to make the 1st movie, as well as other vehicles and interesting scenes. Keep up on the great videos Gator, Burt would be very proud!
I agree. The car scenes were much better in 3 than 2 and the comedy was better as well. The depressed bandit in 2 was annoying.
@@pdennis93 Not to mention Sally Field kept raining on the parade. The biggest problem with 2 for me was that the filmmakers incorporated the relationship issues between Burt and Sally be in the film. Rumor has it that one of the writers was a drug addict which could explain why they wrote an elephant in the movie.
@nikolaswordenentertainment
I'm also in the minority of people that doesn't hate the film. Yes it's ridiculous but still fun to watch. The car chases and stunts were pretty neat. But I enjoyed the movie as a kid because I always dreamed of owning a 1982 Trans Am. I have to say that after 40+ years they still look great and are a blast to drive.
Thanks so very much. Help drive me to do more. Cheers! Gator
@@vinpetrol4309 I thought it was an early production '83 used in the movie
Bandit goes to college? That would have been more interesting than Stroker Ace!
indeed. Cheers! Gator
Well I didn’t come here to see an alright movie get shit on. Yet I watched the entire thing to see if you had anything nice to say about it. I’ve watched all your other documentary videos and you said almost nothing bad about the first two. This is a personal great movie to me. I love seeing jerry reed so excited to be, and is quite fitting in the role of Bandit. Sorry you don’t have anything good to say :(
😞 sorry… these stories are NOT my opinion…. They are based primarily on Burt’s 2 books and his feelings about his career, film choices and legacy. I wasn’t gonna even cover Smokey3 but thought this would be a fun one to play around with. I guess a little more of my opinion ended up in that one than I planned. Hope you continue to watch. Cheers! Gator 🐊
Love your videos. One of my youngest childhood memories was watching this at a drive-in. Even at that young age I knew it was a POS.
Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers! Gator
“Bye bye baby” 😭😂okay that part got me
Hate too admit wished Burt just agreed to do it he brought life to the series sorry 😭😂 snowman you can’t be the bandit ha
Nice movie.
This guy is hilarious!
Me? Awe shucks! Thanks! Cheers! Gator 🐊
I have been watching some of your reviews and have been enjoying them. Great work! This film is a strange one and by all accounts the movie is terrible. Although as bad as I hate to admit it, I would prefer to watch this one over Smokey part 2. SATB part 2 would have been half decent. Except for how Burt and Sally look and act like they just hate the movie and hate each other. Their chemistry in that movie brings the entire mood down. Also, for what it's worth SATB 3 does have some really quotable lines.
The scene with Big and Little Enos in the red Cadillac filled with milk, it's completely obvious the front of the car is jacked way up and being towed by the camera truck 🙄
Also director Dick Lowery has a short cameo as the driver of the front end loader that dumps sand on Buford's police car.
My friend, you just earned a sub! Loved the video!
Google it. There was a 1994 series just a few episodes called >> Beauty and the Bandit Diver Brian Bloom drove a black dodge Stealth
Bandit Goes Country.
Bandit, Bandit.
Beauty and the Bandit.
Bandit's Silver Angel.
They were all terrible.
The odd thing is despite the trailer that came out with Gleason plugging the yet-to-be-released movie Smokey IS the Bandit and a shooting script from October '82 that made its way to the internet where Gleason plays both roles (and oddly stays mute throughout the entire movie as the Bandit except for the very last scene where he quotes a line from Gone With the Wind) and Jerry Reed is nowhere to be found... despite all that producer Mort Engelberg insisted that "not a frame was ever shot" with Gleason playing both parts and also Jerry Reed was supposed to be in it from the get-go which is an obvious lie. I highly doubt the original cut still exists, it was probably thrown away decades ago. I suspect it would have surfaced by now
I didn’t think the film was that awful. That's just my opinion.
3 cracked me up 😂😂 to me it was just a fun movie with soft porn lol loved it 😁👍
It's not a good movie by any means, don't get me wrong. I enjoyed it for what it was. I actually liked this movie better than the second movie.
I feel like the original third movie still exists. I'm sure it hasn't leaked because people don't want to get sued.
As much as I never could stand Siskel And Ebert...even a broken clock is right twice a day.
3 just plain sucked. The best part of the film was that one nekkid chick. 😂
Hard to argue... Cheers! Gator
Sorry but I think they should've canned the whole thing jerry reed was great as the snowman but was crap as the bandit
