I liked the movie so much that I bought a 1978 bandit Trans Am. Watched the movie at a drive-in theater. As we were leaving, all the cars were honking their horns at us. It was great! Smoked the tires on the way out.. Bandit style.
Awesome story. You should write a short about that. The audience probably thought you were Burt, lol.
My favourite film of all time....seen it so many times I know it word perfect!

One of the most memorable movies I had with my mom as we left the parking lot everybody was pealing out as the left the theater. Smoke was everywhere the smell of burnt rubber lingered.... and of course my mom joined in the best she could it that old car, the memories of her just laughing for a mile down the road on the way back home! One of my best moments with her I ever had!

I remember seeing Smokey & the Bandit at our small town theater when came out in 77. It's astounding how fast the decades have shot by since that time. It's been 44 years since Smokey came out and sadly the vast majority of the cast are gone now. Jackie, Burt, Jerry, Hal, Pat McCormick and most recently, Mike Henry, are all gone. Before long another 44 years will have passed us by and I sincerely hope those who remain always remember this movie and continue to watch it because it represents a truly great time in history. We were young, healthy and full of life and life was good. Back then we couldn't imagine these actors not being with us anymore ~ but life moves on.

Burt Reynolds was spot on, the scene with Jackie Gleason was perfect as a one off between the two characters.
I am so happy to have grown up during the 70s.

Best movie ever made! I am a huge Smokey and the Bandit and Burt Reynolds fan. I've been a big fan of his and the movie since I was five years old back in 2002 when I first saw Smokey and the Bandit for the first time. When I saw that black Trans Am, I said that "I will one day have a car just like Bandit's" and 17 years later, I had the blessed opportunity to buy my own Bandit Trans Am, a 1979 Y84 black and gold Special Edition T/A that was originally purchased new by my Grandparent's neighbor and I am now slowly restoring the car. A distant relative of mine Hank Worden made a brief cameo in the convoy scene of Smokey and the Bandit, he was the trucker holding the harmonica. Without a doubt my favorite movie of all time! Great video!

Jackie Gleason is a classic no one could had played his part better than him love the movie Burt gerry reed Sally field .
Jerry Reed was one of the best singer, song writer and guitarist in country music history.
Foremost, Jerry Reid was a GREAT guitarist.

Just watched SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT again last night, and today this came up on my feed (wonder if somebodys listening ) but you know what LAUGHTER IS LOVE and thats what we need right now.

It is available as all three are packaged together titled "Smokey and The Bandit-The Pursuit Pack." I bought it when it was put on sale.
I remember the first time I saw it was at a drive in, then the next weekend we went to the walk in theater and watched it again. Great movie, great fun!
Me too. Saw it at a drive-inn with my father. Double feature with “Gator” and I was hooked!
Back when I was 13, parents ands 5 siblings all packed up the station wagon and headed East Bound and Down. Instant family classic. We didn't get a chance to see it again (poor) but watched it every time it hit TV waves. Kind a yearly tradition until it came out on VHS man-years later. RIP Burt and Jackie and the rest. Man, I feel old now. All my film and TV heroes are gone or almost there.
Favorite movie, sad that I couldn't live at that time, and that I couldnt meet any of them

Saw Star Wars in May and saw Smokey and The Bandit in June of 1977. It should be noted that Smokey isn't perceived as a film down south, but a documentary.
Seen it hundreds of times growing up and now my kids love it to ..

Eastbound and down song probably gave influence to the TV series of the same name.
What makes this movie so great is that fact there is no script for Jackie Gleason what a great man great actor RIP Burt Jackie Jerry you will never be forgotten

I don’t buy movies bc once I’ve watched one I’m not interested n watching it again 4 years if ever & being limited on space works against storing movies. However, after watching this video I went online & bought a copy. Looking forward to watching Smoky & the Bandit once again. Thanks for reminding me how much I LOVED this movie & Burt Reynolds. There’s only ONE Burt & I miss him. 👍😂

i have never seen this movie and I was a Burt Reynolds fan. Saw Hooper that was a good one. I was 12 13 when these movies came out.
Also went to theater and saw W.W. and the Dixie Dance Kings which came out before these movies. That one was good also.

Excellent doc Gator, Like you and #tonystewart @tonystewart I would say my viewings of "Smokey" are well into the 200's (includes partials). For a fact, in '77 I paid to see it in the theater 4 times. and in 2017, I (gladly) pait to see it again (and yes...I did smuggle in a 6 of Coors). Back at home, my wife tolerated when I would do the dialog through the movie but drew the line at me saying the line a couple of seconds BEFORE the character (c'mon babe...that's funny right there). Thanks again for bringing us this 14 minutes of happiness. Be well.

I just happen to be in Smokey and the band at 1:00 and 2:00 as a stand-in for 2 weeks I didn't even know who Burt Reynolds was but they paid me for 2 weeks $100 a day and if I've known who Burt Reynolds was we'd have never made it to Texarkana

The day i heard Burt passed i watched Hooper again, the last scene when he looks at the camera and gives the O sign with his gloved hand had me in tears.

You know who was the real star of the movie was? It was called Smokey and the Bandit not Bandit and the Smokey. No seriously I think it was a fun movie to watch and if one actor was replaced it would have never really been a good. Jackie was great I love all his movies and shows and most of Burt but I really think Burt was so good is because of the actors that he worked with. Even Robin wasn’t funny in a room with no one around to see him you need someone else to work off. The casting was top notch the script was outstanding not really something that would happen but a big what if. It was great but the sequels not so much.

One of those films that really should be left alone…perfect the way it is. Many of the jokes wouldn’t fly in today’s time so it’d be really watered down
Really. What would the plot be in these woke times? Trying to get a truckload of blades to a wind farm before the government shuts off the reliable power? Driving a Tesla and a battery powered rig? No thanks. No matter what it would be it would pale in comparison to the original. Hollywood needs to come up with new and good ideas, not destroying masterpieces from the past.
I can remember watching this, innumerable times over again, as a 13 year old kid and thinking to myself, 🤔"You can do this for a living?"🤔

They ruined the movie when they released the HD version & changed, added & deleted things.
Really? I don’t know that they changed anything. Can you let me know what’s different? Is the original version available anywhere? Old VHS? What exactly changed?
@@GATORMcKLUSKYreviews they changed the sound of the car, added horn sounds , took away horn sounds , if you know the movie good you'll be able to tell. One quick example, when bandit pulls in the truck in the beginning the girl on the swing original version no horn pulling in, HD version horn added.
@@GATORMcKLUSKYreviews also when the cop pulls up to see his captain being arrested original no siren, HD version added, original horn when snowman turns corner & smashes cars horn, HD no horn. Some many changes. The car in HD version sounds awful.
