      +Red Moon lol inexperienced and a wimp? He re-took thunderbluff without any aid from Garrosh even after his father was killed. He challenged Garrosh more than Vol'jin did and he saved Garrosh's life in an ambush even after all their differences, because he is a good leader and has the horde in his heart and mind. Gotta love the kids who know nothing about lore proclaiming that Garrosh is bringing back "the true orcs" when the real orcs were the ones who were honorable, peaceful, noble, and ones who worshiped the elements. Im all for liking Garrosh for his badassery, but calling Baine a puss because he doesn's support Garrosh's mindset reflects stupidity on your part

      If current events were typical Alliance-Horde drama then yes, Baine would be the first choice to be Warchief. Alas the Burning Legion returns so the Horde needs a leader most experienced in war; Varok would be a candidate but his age stops him gaining the mantle of Warchief, Baine though inherited his father's honor and wisdom is not a leader strong enough to lead the Horde through war, Lor'themar though did have combat experience did not have the experience to lead a whole faction, and Gallywix... yeah, think about that. This leaves Sylvanas as the most viable choice to be Warchief in the third war against the Burning Legion as she had the training to lead troops, had numerous battles, and had the most experience leading a kingdom (The Forsaken), and thus was given the mantle of Warchief.
      Don't get me wrong, Baine is my number one choice as Warchief but compared to Sylvanas his experience as leader is not enough to lead a whole faction during this turmoil.

    I never really understood why the Night Elves presence in Kalimdor was so weak? They're one of the oldest races, yet they're only in control a very small part, Teldrasil, Darkshore and Ashenvale, and then share/shared moonglade and Hyjal with the taurens. The rest is controlled mainly by orcs or goblins..

    • @HCSR2
      @HCSR2 5 років тому +67

      Isolationism. They only care about their lands and their forests, the rest of the world be damned. It's part of why it was so weird to see them join the Alliance when WoW came out.

    • @jeanackle
      @jeanackle 4 роки тому +4

      Well, there is also Feathermoon Stronghold in Feralas, which is mainly controlled by Ogres I guess.
      You could also argue that Night Elves live such long lives - even after they lost their immortality, several known Night Elves were already adults 10000 years ago - that they don't need reproduction for the purpose of survival of the species, as much as most other races do. So their numbers are thin compared to Humans, Orcs and others.

    I was a proud member of the Horde from the mid/late days of Vanilla. Whenever I saw an Alliance player, I'd charge in and do my duty as a Warrior of the Horde; through victory or death, I could be proud in what I had done. During the Burning Crusade, I was stalwart in the defense of the forts in Hellfire Peninsula, Halaa would be painted red as long as I was around, and I would do my best to secure a convenient respawn point for my brothers and sisters raiding the Steamvaults. When the Lich King attacked, I sailed with the Horde to put an end to him and to ensure the natural resources of Northrend would be put to good use. To HORDE use!
    And then Wrathgate happened. This... this wasn't the Horde. Blight was... a thing, I guess, not a method I would ever use but neither would I deny its effectiveness. But to use it on our own troops? Even if it meant killing Arthas and bringing an end to the Scourge, that was unacceptable. But it was just a rogue faction, right? Just a bunch of lunatics who never forgave Arthas for what he did to them, and took matters into their own hands outside of the Horde leadership. Right? Right. ...Right! That's not my Horde! My Horde would never do that!
    And then Theramore happened.
    From the very first day I logged into World of Warcraft, I knew two things; I wanted to be an Orc, and I wanted to be a Warrior. Blood and Honor might be mere words to some, but to me they were the guiding light by which I played. I would attack Alliance players all the time, but I would never gank lowbies. I would never kill quest givers or civilian NPCs. I was a soldier of the Horde, proud to be one, and if I couldn't overcome an enemy with my axe and my determination then at least I died as I lived. With honor. I honestly believed that that was what it meant to be an Orc.
    But Theramore happened.
    There was no honor in that attack. In the aftermath, I didn't know what was worse... the fact that I had helped in allowing such an act to be carried out by manipulating my sense of honor and duty to the Horde, or the fact that my fellow Orcs cheered. I couldn't look at the Horde banner anymore with the same sense of pride, because this wholesale slaughter of innocents using a coward's weapon was something my compatriots CHEERED for. I couldn't believe that this is what my Horde had become. I wondered when it had happened, and wondered if it was always that way but I was too blind to see it.
    But no! No, that's not the Horde at all! I remember when Grom and Thrall faced down Mannoroth together, and together struck that demon the fatal blow that freed us of the curse! We had been tools of the demons for the worst of our history, little more than slaves to dark powers when we broke our home world apart and moved to Azeroth to do the same! Freed from the chains their tainted blood shackled us with, we returned to our old ways; respecting the elements and the world we live in, using our strength to improve the lives of not only ourselves but those who respect our right to live freely, and above all acting with honor!
    ...if that was true, why did we cheer? Were we truly free from the demon blood? ...did the demon blood even taint us in the first place?
    As time went on, I saw more and more of the Horde begin to resist Garrosh. I saw leaders rise against what he had done, what he was doing, and I saw common people of the Horde rise against him as well. Conspicuously absent among the dissenters were Orcs. The Tauren, Darkspear, Blood Elves, even some Goblins and Forsaken voiced concern over the direction the Horde was taking. For their trouble, Cairne was murdered and Vol'jin was imprisoned.
    Notably, the cooking trainer in Orgrimmar had an interesting daily quest; steal rice from the degenerate trolls. Even the common Orcs not associated with the military at all had nothing against Garrosh, and believed in his philosophy of Orc supremacy. We had forgotten all that we had accomplished when we worked together, and saw our allies as pawns to be sacrificed. We had forgotten Honor.
    When the time came to besiege Orgrimmar I stood with the rebelion. I stood with the Alliance, something that a few years previously would have sounded physically sickening. I was there to save my Horde from itself. And when the dust settled and the Iron Horde came crashing through the Dark Portal, I was strong in my belief that we were back on the honorable path. When the Burning Legion returned and Sylvannas ascended to the role of Warchief, I had my concerns but she had ever been an ally to the Horde and I was confident that she would at least act like she cared about honor.
    And then Darnassus happened. Once again a city full of innocent civilians was destroyed in an instant, all to serve the vanity of the Warchief. Then the Undercity happened, and Blight was once again used on our own troops in an attempt to kill the enemy king. Once again, my Horde was acting without honor. At least this time a prominent Orc leader was outspoken against those actions, but the common Orcs are just happy they get to have a war and don't give a single damn if there's any honor in it.
    I came to realize that my vision of the Horde was merely a deluded fantasy, and that I had fallen in love with my concept of what it meant to be Horde rather than the Horde itself. For the first time since I started playing all those years ago, I'm not maining my Orc Warrior this expansion. I'm not even playing the Horde side at all this time.
    When the next expansion hits, I might bring him out of retirement. If I do, I'm not doing a single quest in Zandalar or Kul'Tiras. I broke the troll princess out of prison in hopes that Saurfang might come with me, and that was more than enough to serve the Banshee Queen.
    Holy hell, was not expecting to write an essay there XD

    • @HCSR2
      @HCSR2 5 років тому +5

      Theramore is a breaking point? Why? How is a bomb a coward's weapon? It's a weapon like any other. It's a war, ambushes are a thing, projectiles are a thing. People died and that's unfortunate but more lives could have been saved by winning the war quick and early than prolonging it. Horde lives. Until they added the enslaved civilians to SoO in the late stages of Beta, probably because even up to then people still supported Garrosh, until that happened Garrosh had literally done nothing wrong. He is and always will be the greatest Warchief, who fell betrayed by the cowards the green human Thrall allowed to infect the Horde.
      I'll never understand Horde players who feel bad about Garrosh, they strike me as those people with white guilt. There's nothing to feel guilty or bad about, Garrosh did what he had to for the Horde. But maybe it's because, much like I don't get people with white guilt feeling sorry for whatever it is their ancestors did to mine, I don't get Horde players feeling bad for fighting a war against my Alliance. It is a war. You do what you have to to win and I wouldn't expect any less. Wars aren't pretty and never will be. If you want to feel bad about anything feel bad that you killed your greatest Warchief and that led to now being ruled by the Lich Queen. Someone who literally wants both, you and us, dead. Good going.
      That aside you should quest in Zandalar, the new zone focuses on the trolls and not so much the Horde and much less on the Lich Queen. It's definitely worth doing to learn more about the Zandalari and Talanji is a great character. She's like Thrall but with a spine and not a hypocrite. Also the early War Campaign basically treats you like the new Scourge but the later quests and additions are about opposing the Lich Queen so you might like that too. BfA is pretty good when it comes to the story.

    It is odd that the leaders of the Horde had such an issue with this event yet here we are in BFA with a Warchief that has done far worse in literally burning children to death and raising Horde soldiers as undead scourge and somehow it's all cool. The story is broken. In BFA the 3 Horde leveling zones are great but the War Campaign feels as if it was written by a Warhammer fanboy who had no previous knowledge of WoW Canon.

      The orc's are not comparable to Nazi's... only Garrosh's idealism was comparable to Hitler and that's as far as it goes. The orcs have actually been willing to work with other races, and considering the fact that Elves and humans (forsaken) were originally their enemies, but now make up a portion of their allies makes them different enough. They are also influenced by the peaceful, honorable Tauren, and nuanced trolls.
      Jaina still has justification to hate the horde for what happened. But that's because there are no clear determined bad guys in this situation that nobody is evil and everyones anger is justified.

      Yeah, but she never has. That's what makes her character special - she sought peace when she had every reason to seek war.
      But her hating all the Horde, then calling Varian and Anduin weak, it's not faithful to her character and devalues all the amazing things she's done till now.
      Now all that's at stake is some tacked-on romance nobody cares about, while the amazing dynamics between her, Varian, Thrall, Baine, Tyrande and Anduin are completely sidelined.

    For those who think Garrosh did nothing wrong look further into garroshs past before making your statement. Garrosh used to be a great warrior of the horde in WotLK but when he was made warchief things started to go downhill. Garrosh immediately ignores everything Baine has to teach him even after Thrall told him specifically to do so. And he later complains that he was left with no one to follow and in thralls footsteps. (Btw the reason thrall left was to ultimately help save the world from the cataclysmic events due to the elements being angry.) But later on he took northwatch hold and deliberately waited many extra days before attacking theramore so that the alliance would send reinforcements. He then proceeds to bomb the city and he enslaves molten giants to help them. And remember that the one thing the horde values highest and above all is HONOR. Tell me is there any honor in bombing a city instead of taking it fairly or is there any honor in making molten giants be in a war that is between the horde and the alliance. Some people say it was necessary but was it necessary to later corrupt the lands of pandaria which was a place where they don't even belong and have no right to. He also attempted to kill there leader and he put nzoths heart into their pools. He also attempted to assasinate Voljin who was another huge friend of thralls. He even escaped his trial and had the horde and alliance attacked and killed. He then created the iron Horde and tried to take over the world...

      I would think in a war you want to capture or kill the leader or leaders of the group..basically take out as many of them as you can. that was the reason Garrash waited extra days. if you have no leaders then the rest of the army is in disaray and not focused... GArrash knew the Alliance would send their best to stop him and that is what he wanted.........figuring if he took them out then the rest of the Alliance would be easy to deal with..

    The sad thing is just how much this entire event contradicts what Garrosh used to stand for. Recall the quest "To Be Horde.." which is the final quest in Stonetalon mountains. Where after Orc General Krom'gar had blown up a night elf druid school, with innocent lives still inside for both a Tauren Cliffwalker and the player to watch. Though after the act is committed, Garrosh appears from a portal from Orgrimmar, his men killing Krom'gar's and then Garrosh begins to lash at Krom'gar for his actions. Garrosh, shaming his own General for destroying the land of Stonetalon mountains, and murdering innocent lives not involved in the battle. After lines and lines from Garrosh remarking on the atrocities committed by Krom'gar, he then delivers a line inspired by Varok Saurfang. "Honor Krom'gar, no matter how dire the battle, NEVER forsake it" (this is also the 6th line on Krucial's 100 epic WoW lines Pt 2). After dropping Krom'gar off a cliff, he then takes pity on the Tauren cliffwalker for all the torture that Krom'gar put him through, and remarks how he taught Garrosh, and then gives the cliffwalker his respects. THIS is the Garrosh I believe in, fighting with honor so that the races of the Horde can survive and overcome the agony that each of them face. To fight not for blood or hatred, but for survival and glory so that the Horde will prevail over the cruel hand they have been dealt in life. So that no Alliance, Demons or Old God worshiping scum will prey upon them like cattle, but with... the destruction of Theramore I suppose it wasn't meant to be. That is the horde I stand with and fight for, LOK'TAR OGAR!!!
