Garrosh was like Orgrimm. He was a realist and a conqueror. This is the most real and mature character in wow.
He was not a dreamlike idealist who wanted to dance by the fire and enjoy the peace.
Now that I am older I can see that Vol'jin was the traitor who kept provoking him.
The Horde people were starving in the desert. What were they supposed to do? The Alliance also took land and waged war. And harvesting wood resources was associated with the elves.
Just see how long it took the trolls to reflect their islands. They are weak savages.
In Garrosh's day, we had the most powerful horde. In the days of Vol'jin, the weakest in history. She couldn't even hold the legion back while the Alliance was giving. Maybe if they were using Garrosh's armor and technology instead of Vodoo, they would have done it.
And Vol'jin's best choice as his new leader.
Sylvanas ... the worst chieftain ever.
He's the only one who thinks the horde is nothing.
Vol'jin, too, was only a leader of his people. Garrosh led the Horde well because he was an Orc, regardless of his errors, a Troll would not be capable of understanding what the Orcs had to do to get to where they are. Vol'jin was not weak, nor ignorant, he was just not an Orc. To say Vol'jin being the true villain was a stretch, and the mistakes he made recently were and can be traced to Blizzard's inability to write the character and the new lore that it was not Vol'jin who was struck down by a Felguard, it was a weakened version and the intervention of a Greater Loa of Death, one who is allied with the Jailer himself that killed him.
Vol'jin saw Garrosh's ways as mindless conquering, and in a way, it was. There was just some things he didn't understand, but Garrosh truly did /look/ like a villain, because the ends justify the means, and he was too inexperienced to lead an entire faction at the time of being made Warchief.
Looking that "new horde" without strong war chief, I can't watch it fall apart, nothing good will come out for the horde if it continues like this. Of course, Blizzard eventually demonized the Garrosh and made a stupid plot.
Uh Garrosh was the traitor if anything, being an asshole calling for war that isn’t necessary isnt “good leadership” and he wanted these resources for HIS horde, the orc supremacist horde, he didn’t give a shit about anyone else. Strength isn’t calling for war just because, it’s calling for peace in a world filled with war and not giving up on it unless necessary. Garrosh has many chances to end this but this meatheaded arrogant fool just want BLOOD WAR, hes stuck in the past of the old horde, the wrong horde the horde that the current horde isn’t trying to be, even Orgrim didn’t want that after the second war ended. The true warchiefs we needed were Thrall but even more so Voljin because they had visions that would secure the Horde a long life, while Garrosh had a vision of securing the Orcs a long life and bringing the destruction of the Horde. Garrosh was the 2nd worst leader ever(he even used an Old Gods heart, desecrated sacred land, and killed most of his own people with no real reason) with Sylvanas obviously being the first
@Teo Ch I strongly disagreed with your statement. Garrosh is nothing like Ogrimm Doomhammer. Garrosh is self centered, egoistic and genocidal orc supremacist who care nothing for others but himself, while, Ogrimm did whatever it takes for the Horde and his people. He killed Blackhand and destroy the Shadow Council who was the manipulating Blackhand. Garrosh treat the other races of the Horde like trash, while Ogrimm treat the other races of the Horde as respectable and equal partners.
Unlike Garrosh, Ogrimm was not bloodthirsty, open to negotiations and honorable. For an example, in the Second War, as promise for safe passage through the Alterac Mountains to Lordaeron by King Aiden Perenolde of Alterac, Ogrimm did kept by his word and the terms that no harm would come to Alterac and her people.
Garrosh was a dictator who clearly segregated and seperated the horde from within. It is in Garrosh's time as warchief when Lor'themar considered joining back the Alliance because of Garrosh. Had Jaina not gone nuts and purged Dalaran of the Sunreavers, the blood elves would have probably joined back the Alliance.
The Horde created in Warcraft 3 by Cairne, Thrall and Sen'jin/Vol'jin was a Union forged by the fact that all these races were Outsiders in their respected regions before joining in together. The orcs of Thrall were imprisoned by the Humans, the Trolls were imprisoned by the Naga and the Tauren were overrun by the Centaurs. Similarly the Forsaken were seen as nothing but mindless zombies by their once allies in the Alliance, so they joined the Horde.
Garrosh thought of the Orcs as better than the other races. He failed to see the basic values and experiences all races of the Horde shared.
It really is fun to watch people somehow trying to legitimise Garrosh's actions in the comments.

Thrall should have chosen Baine as warchief. He was good and wise, peaceful yet strong. Everyone respected him, even Garrosh himself despite his attitude toward him.
yes, but in times of crisis which was a cataclysm, it could turn out to be in your service. Vol'jin and Bane would probably choose to sacrifice their own people for peace. Garrosh did everything he could to save his people.

That was also the problem Baine was too much of a pussy! the Alliance would attack first and Baine would have just brought up negotiations, and as we learn from Saurfang, The Horde is too good to be based as Pussies! This is why I agreed with Sylvanas first! although going down the storyline Sylvanas kept getting worse and worse that's when I disagreed with her! But doesn't matter if you disagreed with her I still followed her till the end!
No, he should have chosen Cairne instead of Garrosh and especially over Baine (who wasn't even a candidate for Warchief and is too pussy to lead the Horde)

I think that Vol-jin would've made a great warchief, he wasn't soft like Thrall but he wasn't blood thirsty like Garrosh. It's just so many orc purist cried that a troll was placed in command of the horde, that Blizzard got scared and entirely removed Vol-jin out of WOD aside of the cinematic where he makes us general, then kills him as soon as they can in Legion. Then they make him name e-girl Sylvanis warchief due to being manipulated by the jailer or one of his lieutenants. At least they started treating him right now that he's not front and center.
Goes to show just how much the whiny brats of this game have power over the development because Blizzard is to scared to lose out on the brats parents money. That and Blizzard doesn't actually want to have to think about making the story good too. Customer is always right, right?
I think it's more incompetence than anything else. You're right, after Blizzard became Activision Blizzard, making actual good games took the backseat as the profit margin took the wheel. But Chris Metzen calling himself "an author" is, in my opinion, the height of hubris. If you compare the MoP Vol'jin/Garrosh and BfA Saurfang/Sylvanas narratives, they're almost the exact same stories. Lack of originality above anything else is the problem. Shitzen went "nah, we need more Hitler in our Horde". Also, totally with you on the fact that Vol'jin was basically not even warchief since his reign lasted for a single expansion that was such utter shit that nobody even remembers it anymore lol.
Cairne, Draxxar and Vol'jin needed that job not Garrosh
It's really messed up, since Vol'jin is such a badass and a Shadow Hunter and Witch Doctor, both classes which were never realized by Blizzard. I tried Chromie time to see some more Vol'jin action but then realized there is basically none since they just killed him off. He's going to return through Reincarnation at some point but it's still bad, I mean he has been dead / gone for several years now and probably won't be Warchief again either so he must become some kind of a god or loa if he returns.

When Sylvanas said the horde's northing i kinda expected a clip from where garrosh tells her to shut it.
You know, I kind of think that we all actually missed what she meant with "You are all nothing." I kind of have the feeling it was not meant as an insult, more like a ... comparison.
I hate when they make NPCs, specifically important characters in lore, waaaay bigger than both the player and the average size of their race. Here it shows Vol’jin like 3x the size of a male Forsaken, while in the Legion intro cinematic, it shows Sylvanas carrying Vol’jin after he was stabbed, and they were legit pretty much the same size 😂
It’s so they stand out in game... could you imagine trying to do the SoO raid back in mop but having garrosh be the same size as another player orc?

Hiya Folks! This video is dedicated to the dynamic between Vol’jin & Garrosh. Ever since Cata, I’ve always wanted to see a Vol’jin vs. Garrosh fight, given the buildup.
Instead of Thrall doing his cheaty cheaty shaman mojo during a Mak’gora. Garrosh still remains the best Warchief ever.
Would’ve loved to see reason & logic become his character development over expansions since he showed such capability twice back in Cata. RIP Papa Garry.
I believe around that time they had decided on MoP set in as a faction conflict expansion and they needed a catalyst. For some reason they didn’t use Sylvanas who they seemed to be setting up down that route and instead decided on Garrosh. Which is shame because his character development could’ve been his greatest defining arc. So much potential as the son of Grommash, and he had many iconic leaders to learn from (Cairne, Thrall, etc). That part with him and Krom’gar is the true Garrosh in my eyes.
None of this wouldve happened if medivh wasnt possessed by a powerful demon

Boy, rewatching those MoP scenes, I realize how Metzen and his merry band of baboons on typewriters shit the bed on BfA... The Vol'jin vs Garrosh scenario is the EXACT same as Varok vs Sylvanas... loyal follower that starts verbal sparring against the current leader when they turn into a totalitarian genocidal lunatic; then the follower gets accused of treason, fakes his own death/goes into exile, raises an army and returns to enact their vendetta. And sure, the difference is that Varok died fighting to overthrow Sylvanas, but if you think about it, his sacrifice turned him into a martyr and made Sylvanas reveal her true feelings about the horde (which aren't that different from the "daddy gief me my new Iron Horde pleese" Garrosh), and his martyrdom in fact dealt a greater blow to Sylvanas than Vol'jin did at the end of SoO... It's like Shitzen took one look at the proposed draft for BfA story and went "naaaah, we didn't have enough Hitler themes, need more Hitler"
Only that Chris Metzen retired from Blizzard since 2016, just before Legion. The recycled writing of BfA is actually the result of the ineptitude of other writers, and the fact Activision Blizzard treats all their employees like utter garbage.
Legion's writing was serviceable, even really good at times. It was a breath of fresh air from brand new writers with power over the plot. Suramar is a prime example of this. But then by the end of Legion, Blizzard started their massive layoffs to get a few extra millions for Bobby Kotick.
Don't blame Metzen. Metzen's worst writing was with Cataclysm, Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2, surely not BfA. Blame Activision Blizzard's executives.
At first i think Garrosh is a crazy warmonger, but then i realized Garrosh is Realist within the Horde, he didn't want his Horde starved to death in the middle of desert, he just want Horde is always ready for war.
But in other hand, Vol'jin is a wise horde but primitive with his troll culture.
I always respect both of them, but prefer to Garrosh the way of thinking.

MOP just needed an endboss. Now the horde is just worst of burning cities and using chemical warfare. Least garrosh had the descency not to raise a former combatant. He's everything a warchief should be. He was never given a true chance.
They couldve easily made lei shen the true end boss and just buffed him up in lore a bit easily

@@Viskydude yeah he was but everyone hated him for it. Voljin threatened to kill him. Sylvanas was raising the dead and using the plague behind his back. Gallywix was new and only cared about profit. Lorth mar proved that he's willing to deal under the table so can't count on him to be loyal. The only one he was really tight with as strange as it sounds was baine. I know he killed his father but baine knew there was foul play involved. And after the shattering Garrosh promised the tauren would always have a place within the horde so. Don't know why that didn't make it ingame.

I was hoping that the other leaders would tell him to sue for peace and Go'el (Thrall) would use the opportunity to teach him humility... but its a fool's dream anyway. The game is World of WARcraft, not PEACEcraft...
@@Viskydude Amen brother. If you look at all the artwork they have for him you could tell that there was a true passion and aspiration for garrosh. I don't know why anyone expects good samaritans out of the orcs. It's often forgotten that thrall is the exception and not the rule. And that orcs are remarkably stubborn creatures. That's what i loved most about them.

Absolutely. The franchise just did him dirty. The Garrosh we see during early Cata I believe is the original oath meant for Garrosh. Afterwards they just decided they needed a catalyst for MoP, like Sylvanas for BFA/shadowlands.

When Thrall came on Kalimdor elfs still was not joined in Alliance and Kalimndor was not Alliance territory, it was be a chance. Garrosh took problems with resources on himself and was true. Thrall with peace of way created many problems, cause Varian saw weakness Horde, and they lived on the crumbs that the Alliance allowed them. Thrall every time think what Alliance will think about horde or his actions, and every time wanna to consult with Alliance. I am not a looking for a war, but if the horde is suffers, you have to find best way for fix. Tharll found this way in trades with elfs, and pacts with Alliance, facepalm. Varian was crazy!Invaded foreign state, tried kill Moira and tried to impose something there, until his son stopped him.
@@Drekrosh We only have one orc left who thinks a war against the alliance is certain, and Thall was weak not destroying Theramore. Nazgrel. Maybe he'll bring us to the horde of Fel Orcs? It will unite the whole race again. Because seriously, I was getting pissed off with killing my kind when I was playing an orc. Thrall ordered the orcs to be ashamed of themselves and to kill those who felt no shame. Except Grom, he made no effort to save anyone from the fel orcs.
Each race has its criminals. But they only remember the crimes of the orcs. What about Azshara? Arthas? Garithos? Malfurion who destroyed the world by destroying the wells. What about the Eredar who are over 2/3 of the Dreanai race? All the crimes of the orcs are their source. If the Draenai had not come to the orc planet, they would have lived happily on it.
And now even Outland doesn't deserve the orcs, only the Broken. It is sad.
We also have a son, Kilrogg. Maybe he'll do something interesting.
He wasn't qualified to be the warchief he was just another brute berserk like his father. To be the warchief you need wisdom and discipline

Sylvanas did. She was the only one who did not care for her factions, but for the death of the greatest number of people.
The others are conquerors. The night elves and humans did the same to the trolls.
Gul'dan betrayed the horde in the moment of victory. Blackhand at one point became too weak. The Horde under his rule began to disintegrate and surrender to Anarchy. Therefore, Orgimm took over the horde.
"C'mon guys, it's not called World of PEACEcraft!!!" he said, somehow believing his words contained even a molecule of cleverness.
even Garrosh didnt like what Sylvanas was doing. That bitch as Garrosh himself called her did not deserve to be Warchief and did nothing BUT wrong.
Garrosh is innocent and Vol'jin just use some voodoo magic on Garrosh to do wrong because the Orcs are fking awesome compare to a bunch of Trolls.
