My two favorite lines: 6:38 - "Once I truly knew what belonging felt like, I would never settle for less." 10:02- "So I operate in technicolor, even when my surroundings are monochrome." 😍
Sheila is an amazing role model for aspiring young women and ALSO for aspiring young men. I love her concept of finding (and being) the right mirrors (mentors, sponsors and supporters). Sheila is an incredible mirror for me and everyone she surrounds herself with. I encourage everyone who sees this talk to encourage as many people as possible to watch it. Way to go Shiela!!!!
Thank you so much! This speech and the opportunity to share my message were incredibly meaningful to me. It’s a moment I’ll always cherish, and knowing that it resonated with others makes it even more special. I’m truly grateful for this experience! 🙏
fantastic talk! As someone who has tried all I can to break the glass ceiling, this reframing to think of surrounding ourselves with mirrors is invigorating! Bravo Sheila Gujrathi, MD for leading the way and inspiring us all.
Thank you! I’m thrilled to hear that the mirror concept resonated with you. Together, we can create a supportive community that empowers everyone to break those ceilings. Your encouragement means a lot! 🌟💖
There are such gems here - mirrors, understanding what it must feel like in the majority, and living in technicolor in a monochrome world. It’s great to see you here. Thank you for sharing your story, Sheila.
Thank you so much for this-it truly means the world to me. Reflecting on what it’s like to live in technicolor amidst the monochrome is a big part of my journey, and knowing that these parts resonate with you makes it even more powerful!
Congratulations, Sheila! Such an amazing and inspiring message! Thank you for all the important work you're doing to improve people's lives and the biotech industry. You're an incredible role model and teacher.
Thank you so much! I’m proud to represent women and share these important messages. Cherry Hill will always hold a special place in my heart! Let’s keep breaking those glass ceilings together!
Thank you! I’m so glad you resonated with the "right mirrors" concept. It’s all about surrounding ourselves with people who reflect our potential. Your support means a lot!
Sheila, your message is so important. We are each other's mirrors, and seeing you shine inspires me to dance in the light of our sisterhood disco ball!
A lot of young immgrant girls have felt this way for generations, i do feel this is changing albeit slowly. More talks like this much needed. Thank you for sharing.
I love this Sheila! I admired your confidence when we worked together so many years ago... to learn that you could also experience feelings of perhaps not belonging, it strikes me at how many of us carry this quietly. Your talk inspires and gives us some language to talk about it and more importantly, to just act. We belong everywhere. Indeed!
Thank you so much for your kind words! It means a lot to hear that my journey resonates with you. We often carry those feelings in silence, and it’s empowering to find the language to express them!
Spot on! For anyone in any working capacity who is contending with similar challenges this truly resonates! From this, one can then say that even the ceiling then becomes a mirror that reflects back and reinforces the image and the vision of the woman going through it. Based on Sheila's visual, there's no need to break the ceiling just rise above it fully established and firmly grounded.
Sheila, your TEDx talk 'Shattering the Glass Ceiling by Finding the Right Mirrors' is truly inspiring! Your message about seeking out mentors and mirrors that reflect our true potential is so empowering, especially for women navigating leadership roles. The way you shared your personal journey and actionable insights really resonates on so many levels. Thank you for reminding us that breaking barriers is not just about pushing forward but also about finding the right support system to see ourselves more clearly. Bravo!
Absolutely amazing. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to meet & get to know you. If I wasn’t already so much older than you, I’d want to be you when I grew up! Congratulations.👏👏👏
Thank you! I love that sentiment! By hanging our mirrors, we can uplift each other and create a brighter, more inclusive space for everyone. Let’s keep spreading that positivity! 🌟💖
So many layers and so much substance landed deep inside me as I listened. Behind the bright smile and light is a depth, and important message that could improve the lives of EVERYONE (even those in monochrome) in so many ways. Thank you.
This is so moving. . .how powerful to consider the impact of spending our energy not on proving that we continue to be deserving, but doing the work we came to do!
Thank you! I appreciate your support and am thrilled to share my story, as well as my work in biotech and health. Let’s keep pushing the boundaries together!
I’ll be really honest very publicly here . I’ve enjoyed quite alot of success at very senior level and i probably have never felt i truly belonged or good enough but i kept moving forward anyway. x
Sheila, your TEDx talk was incredibly inspiring. I had goosebumps listening to you. No more monochrome - full technicolor and discoballs. Another mirror was hung today!
Wow - so inspiring! Thank you for sharing your story so authentically - it's so important for all of us women to hear that even the most successful CEOs and board directors have these feelings! And that we can all find our true confidence and belonging by coming together as mirrors.
Thank you so much! It means a lot to hear that my story resonated with you. Acknowledging that even successful leaders experience similar feelings is crucial for all of us. By coming together as mirrors, we not only empower ourselves but also create a supportive network that fosters confidence and belonging for everyone!
I listened to this twice Sheila and i personally took a lot from it. One of my biggest takeaways was that i think ‘fear’ holds so many people back from achieving their full potential and it almost certainly did me in my teens and early 20’s .. that inner critic constantly telling myself i wasn’t good enough when i really was .. we all can be.. Very inspiring talk, keep up your amazing work !! Highly recommend anyone listening this one.
Thank you for sharing your experience! Fear can be a huge barrier, and it’s great to hear this talk resonated with you. Keep believing in yourself-you're more than enough!
Very inspiring Sheila! I love your energy and your comment that you operate in technicolor even when your surroundings are monochrome. I will remember that one in many settings for years to come.
Thank you! I’m thrilled to hear that the technicolor analogy resonated with you. It’s a reminder that we can bring our full vibrancy to any situation, regardless of our surroundings.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your kind words, especially since you listen to a lot of talks. It means a lot to hear that this one stood out to you!
I met Dr. Gujrathi about a decade back. It was one-on-one in her office when she ran Gossamer. As an inherent part of my business, I asked her questions about the events that shaped her life. One of them just floored me. I will leave the identities out. But she talked about losing a close family member and her decision to search for a solution to learn about sorrow, life through religion. If memory serves me well; she put everything here in abeyance, and left for India to learn from Chinmaya's teachings. I was raised in India; and it surprised me how someone raised here could go there for a few months to do what she did. Clearly, if she took up something, she took it seriously. No half measures for her, looked like. Congratulations, Doc. We are rooting for you.
I am so moved by this message. Indeed, that was a very difficult time for me and I’m so grateful that I was able to spend valuable time in India with very special gurus. It gave me the courage to come back and live a purposeful life. Thank you so much for your message and continuing to inspire me to perform Seva and be of service.
