Something not mentioned in this video is that to control your feedback you actually have to collect all the tool albums in order and summon adam himself
Max, I can't even begin to give you the credit you deserve for such attention to detail in presenting these videos as a learning tool. If I had always had music presented to me in this active, clear but detailed visual format, I think I might be twice the guitarist I am now. Not to mentioned killer sound and clean, relaxed execution.
@@MaxNiessl I agree with OP. Thank you so much. Didn't see anything other than delay pedal and tuning but I assume some distortion and drop D tuning. Is that right?
There are only two things getting me through this pandemic... one of them is watching Max demystify Tool songs. Thank you for all of these efforts. You make the world a better place.
nice work! I love jamming 'the pot' on guitar with my mates, & we got it pretty down! but im pleased you've put this up so i can tidy up the part at around 4:50 which I was definitely playing incorrectly haha
Nice work mate sounds good!!! I remember I played this song many many years ago for local music collective at a charity gig. I had to figure it out aswel back then took me bloody ages! Such a fun song to play. I wish this kinda video was around then from memory I played it abit different to your version . Heres a link to it if ya get time have a watch 👍
That closing riff. Ye gods, man, you're a total machine. I'd not realized how complex that riff is. Yeah, a machine. Do ya have, like, normal human emotions and inclinations and such? Thanks a trillion for your great work.
The Pot is top tier Les Paul and metallic Marshall sounds. Incredibly powerful guitar by Adam Jones, and you did a great job with it. The tuning makes a big difference in playability. Nice job!
What kind of a-hole click thumbs down on a super high quality, FREE video teaching you how to play a Tool song. I mean seriously, what expectation did Max fail to meet to get a thumbs down? People are weird. Thanks for an awesome video Max!
His shirt alludes to Maynard squeezing his cat for the recording of Mantra, right? sigh... "overthinking, over-analyzing, separates the body from mind" 🙏🏼 Jokes aside, fantastic job! Definitely going to learn this now.
Much love and respect for making these videos man. I've been getting back into guitar playing in my late 20's now through learning TOOL songs. And you have helped fuel my passion for it seeing how you learned every intricacy of Adam Jones playing and really took time to make these videos flawless. Blows my mind how listening to this stuff back in the day it didn't really interest me in playing it because I thought it was pretty simple and was into learning thrash/death metal, but I think this takes more effort and creativity honestly. Really beautiful band and excellent videos, keep it up!
Ah, freqout pedal, that's the way to make that sound. Looked everywhere for that tip. Very neat, clean and precise cover, I like your videos very much. And that shirt is so cool. Thanks!
Maaaaan, awesome video. I don't even play along to most of those but just really enjoy seeing them. I know you out so much effort into them and it really pays off.
That is awesome Max. Playing - tone - tab and effects. I start to learn sections and stop to watch you play and enjoy a killer Tool song. Much props. 🔥🎸🤘
Brilliant video. The tab I’d found online for tool wasn’t very accurate but your work is excellent. Managed to learn this song in two sessions. Well done.
Great cover as usual, thanks for the upload and lessons, its brilliant in both note for note playing and similarity in tone with the original !! Inspires me to pick up the guitar and learn a Tool Song !! Eagerly awaiting your cover of Lateralus, already know it will be spot on mate ! Cheers !!!
Dude! The Freqout sounds awesome! I'm using an old Tom'sLine gain/amp sim pedal for feedback but does nothing like the Freqout. Checked out Amazon and there's one for $688...but it comes w/ picks bahahaha! Totally justifiable! Thanks for another f'n great tab and cover. Fixed my problem in the "reprise" part w/ the addition of a single note. Adam strikes again!
@@MaxNiessl You need an endorsement deal. You just sold a pedal haha. Spent a much more modest $240 CAD on Reverb. Still pricey but Digitech is excellent. Oh I look forward to this one!
Dude Man !! I watched this video again, & it's definitely my favorite. From the 2:35 mark & on from there, it's just Fantastic !!! But especially at the 2:40 mark when ya strike the chords !!! Hell Yeah Now !! 🤘🏼🤘🏼 The long drawn out sound. Fukin love it. & @ the 4:30...Sweet. TOOL 🤜🏼🤛🏼
to me the pot feels like its supposed to be in a different album and in this album at the same time, especially when it comes down to 4:12 its so angelic and fits with the album in my eyes but the rest is more of a mix of the first three albums for me
3:51 - 4:23 my favorite part, also the most fucked up one, took me a while to understand and play. It feels so good to play it tho, thanks Max for these gems !
Amazing work man! I'm learning from these videos so much, such top-notch tabs! The intro-reprise part is kicking my ass though...especially the alternative patterns Adam does towards the end of the section. Have you considered doing breakdown videos with this kind of tricky parts slowed- down? Can't wait to see which one you'll do next!
Any simple explanation to how you control the feedback so well? Is it strictly the pedal? This is extremely well done!!! I think you nailed how he plays it for sure
U should do Right in two. Keep up the good work man.
I'm dying for that one
Yes!!
Yes, please!
Yeah dude! I absolutely love that song. But a real treat would be to see Rosetta Stoned.
@@jasonderos637 Then you're in for a treat, because I already did Rosetta Stoned ;)
Something not mentioned in this video is that to control your feedback you actually have to collect all the tool albums in order and summon adam himself
4:23 is top tier in riffs of tool, in my opinion
oh absolutely
That's the intro bass line but played in the guitar
Same!
This is the best Digitech Freqout commercial ever! Digitech should thank you for it.
4:23 to 4:41 this riff is just such a piece of art by Adam......can't get enough of it.....and yes, amazing cover mate!
That's Justin's bass intro played on the guitar
Very reminiscent of Soundgarden early 90's..... Filthy riffs
@@victorfernandes5191that's what I was going to say. It's such a beautiful riff.
@@victorfernandes5191 except for the hammer-on onto the the A string that makes it sooooo nasty
You’re playing your own tabs wrong 😂

Look up @opiateofthemasses his covers are pretty great. Almost as good as me ;)

At 3:50 I always thought I was crazy that the part went higher and lower.
Haha you're perfectly sane, bud! I noticed that today as well, though :)
