Caking is definitely hard, but I think you did an excellent job! Having smooth edges makes the crumb coating process much less stressful - sometimes I like to wrap my sponges in clear wrap and refrigerate them to make them smoother and more even before crumb coating!

It still ended up looking so nice! A perfect cut slice. Once it’s all out together, it’s very forgiving.
