Collector’s Edition of The Dark Side Of The Moon on crystal clear vinyl out now: pinkfloyd.lnk....
This special group performance, taped for the BBC, with acoustic guitars and vocals from Roger Waters and David Gilmour, plus additional piano from Richard Wright and taped songbirds, successfully evokes a summer’s day in Grantchester, a small village close to Cambridge, England. Grantchester’s famous former residents include the Edwardian poet Rupert Brooke, who moved there and subsequently wrote a poem of homesickness entitled ‘The Old Vicarage, Grantchester’. Taken from ‘The Early Years 1965 - 1972’.

See David Gilmour and Roger Waters singing together is the same feeling of see John Lennon and Paul McCartney at that time. Is such a great feeling
even better for me. David and Roger both ~ k
Too bad Roger and David were never friends...
I know im asking randomly but does anybody know of a trick to log back into an instagram account..?

Those lyrics are as beautiful as they are brilliant. Poetry. This song is special to me. I’ll spare you the story, but I was tripping when I heard it. I was looking for the kingfisher taking flight.

A good and creative way of saying; "TIMELESS". . . like the Spiritual realm.

Mighty fine country music.
Pink Floyd Forever and Ever. Touch my soul as no one else.
Isn't that a pokemon?
Yes, Pink Floyd forever, and ever! They are the best band ever...
+Diego Corredor yes on the tree😂😂
I love the narrow way, all parts, but i can agree with that!!!
This is the best song on the album
right on
I needed to relax, so I looked up Granchester Meadows. I am 64 , It takes me back so many years, I love it. It has helped me to relax and let go of the problems in my mind. Now I can go to sleep. I hope to to have wonderfull dreams.
Hope you get it. I'm 61 and this music take me back also... 👏🏻🌝👍🏻
It is hardly possible to catch a slacker while there is a shaggy Boris and other "pacifists" in the British parliament.
A tune so underrated and so unplayed...shameful, one of their best too!
Especially when Floyd followed that great tune with " several species of small furry animals gathered together in a cave grooving with a pict " .

Wonderful to see David & Roger singing together. Great to watch this version with excellent sound and video quality. Thanks for sharing
what's the story with those two? idk much about their history but read somewhere they fought a lot.
Roger got a big head so he quit the band in 1982. The band kept going and Roger sued them for using the Pink Floyd name brand, etc. Then they played 3 songs together as Pink Floyd live on MTV a while back for a benefit.
Shit like this song is why i believe the whole "They were never friends" is a bullshit.
As usual there is a lot of malarky. Even David has said that the animosity was mostly in the publics mind. Its true Roger got dictatorial, its also true that after Dark Side of the Moon, the WHOLE band apart from Roger said they were ready to retire and grow vegetables. David said he'd 'likely get back to it as some point' but frankly without Roger there would be no Wall, Animals, or Wish you Were here, or the final cut (which I could have done without).
ANyway, it was 'mostly business' when they called it quits. The fact is that all professional musicians eventually get to the point of producing their own stuff and there were just too many producers.
Roger threatened to sue when he left, but he left when Pink Floyd as a business was pretty much bankrupt. Dave and Nick didn't like that, Nick admits that he really didn't do much work, but thanks to Bob Ezrin they made another album. Then another album in the nineties. David tried to mend bridges to get Roger to record The Division Bell, according to the song, he was told to f off.
Live Eight came along and they did a benefit set of four songs.
Pink Floyd is the meaning of life...I'm 63 years old and still feel 20 when listening "Shine on your crazy diamond"
Sane here same bro
This also, most of Ummagumma is cool, and AHM up---
SNAP!!! I'm 61 years old and always been a Floyd fan..... But I still think that their early years were the best..... Especially, Ummagumma and Atom Heart Mother.... Such a shame that the band never rated the album... Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast.... Absolutely brilliant to listen too on headphones, the same with Grantchester Meadows....
fuck yeaah!!! long live viejo 🤘🏻
They are channelling The Incredible String Band
This song is my history, my home, my world, its me. Deep and green from my English homeland. When I return to England and sit in a meadow I am this song. It paints pictures in my mind I will never forget.
Ummagumma was a truly incredible album! The Narrow way still haunts me, snf the work Rick did, his keyboard work was monumental!
Yes, I like to play The Narrow Way every once in a while… Among many of my favorites of Pink Floyd. Need to learn how to play Grandchester Meadows as well!
The Narrow Way is entirely composed and played by David Gilmour. All instruments, in the three parts.
@@rafaelsoliveoficial8075 yup, Ummagumma showcases the individual band members talents & their talents as one unified tour de force playing LIVE.
The Pink Floyd are from another galaxy.
I agree!!!!!!
Why do You think they always played the UFO Club for???
Absolutely, they are aliens. Impossible to be so good like that with a human brain.
Yes waters would be a klingon
Cristiane Granetto what do you think about Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky and other compositors
I'm in the backyard at dusk listening to this and the birds are all joining in and diggin' it too. Beautiful!
If you go down to Granchester meadows at 7am in the summer, it is awesome.
Wow! Even the birds live the moment in time!
Pink Floyd is the Best band in the history.
I saw Pink Floyd in 1973, and my ears are still ringing.

I love the entire album, but this song puts me away, on a forest, hearing how the water flows and feeling the warm grass.

"Icy wind of night be gone this is not your domain"
In the sky a bird was heard to cry
Misty morning whisperings and gentle stirring sounds
Belie the deathly silence that lay all around
Hear the lark harken to the barking of the dark fox
Gone to ground
See the splashing of the kingfisher flashing to the water
And a river of green is sliding unseen beneath the trees
Laughing as it passes through the endless summer
Making for the sea
In the lazy water meadow I lay me down
All around me golden sun flakes settle on the ground
Basking in the sunshine of a bygone afternoon
Bringing sounds of yesterday into this city room
Hear the lark harken to the barking of the dark fox
Gone to ground
See the splashing of the kingfisher flashing to the water
And a river of green is sliding unseen beneath the trees
In the lazy water meadow I lay me down

Basking in the sunshine of a bygone afternoon
Bringing sounds of yesterday into this city room

I visited granchester meadows at the weekend, 30 degrees +. Lots of people swimming, out on rafts and boats. A real pleasure to be there.
What beautiful beautiful lyrics.
Their voices harmonize exceptionally 2gether 🤩😍🤩
There is a video of Kyle, me and my Dad on a boat floating through Okefenokee in Georgia back in 2004, watching alligators, nobody else around us, the sun is out, humidity everywhere, the water surface blended with the trees and the sky. When cutting the video my Dad used this song as background music. Who knew Grantchester Meadows is a perfect fit for Georgia swamps?
That was a perfect day.
Missing you Kyle, rest in peace.
A great overlooked gem from Ummagumma…
The new album The Early Years is awesome! I was given it for Christmas and I've spent a great time listening it!😊
Great duo of Roger Waters and David Gilmore .... the good old time, "The grass was greener...The light was brighter..The endless river......FOREVER AND EVER"... as they say in "High Hopes"...years later
Hate to be 'that guy' but it's Gilmour. Sorry

The finest use of English language in rock & roll:
Hear the lark
And hearken to the barking of the dog
Fox gone to ground

This was not rock and roll, it is English folk music.
Come on get real that is just excruciating.
pink floyd es mucho más que una banda de rock, es ardua magia con vehemente deseo de explorar la mente humana y tocar el alma. En ca melodía y cada canción puedes sentir algo tan especial y distinto al resto. no sé cómo describirlo. Es magia
I'm 53, accomplished international angler...from KY...I know of a creek of white sand in KY where a population of kingfisher have lived my whole life... incredible to see them fish..little predators..plus I'm a PSYCHONAUT..
It is EXACTLY like this at 7am in the summer morning. I go there alone and float away. Top place.
I had to play this tune in loop for 5 hours to calm myself during a really bad trip on LSD
Fun times!
Why was it bad...or is it just a cool thing to say it happened while having to take something to actually like good music...
I loved those years, so magical. ....loved purple microdots too.
Wish I'd done the same on my acid trip, instead of trying to hide from a friend's dog in the backyard that morphed into an axe and was chasing me.

Some 20 years ago, when I was a kid, I'd play Civilization 2 and this would be in the background, on the loop. Empty world would lay ahead, with me leading my people into the unknown.
linda musica ,pink floyd a maior banda de todos os tempo . Brasil
Oh Richard it was you again providing genius in atmospherics and bringing life to us inside indeed. Rest easy friend thank you for the millenia.
Pink Floyd's musical compositions will always be greatly appreciated by those of us that love and live for music. Their genius wasn't just playing instruments but also experimenting with sound and manipulating it to induce emotional, mental and physical sensations like none that came before them. Many of their reel-to-reel cut and paste engineering techniques, for instance reverb and tape delay, were copied by many artists and engineers and became standard in the industry. Some news clips from their early days commenting on their quad-sound and multimedia breakthroughs:
"1967: Pink Floyd performs the first-ever surround sound concert at “Games for May,” a lavish affair at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall where the band debuts its custom-made quadraphonic speaker system. The technological breakthrough not only amazes and confuses the mass of stoned concert-goers, but it goes on to raise the standard of what audiences would come to expect from a live rock performance."
"Pink Floyd had been assaulting their audiences with both sound and light, incorporating rudimentary light shows, complete with abstract films and bubbling, psychedelic oil slide projections, into their live sets ... they were the perfect band to break new ground by offering a true multimedia event."
PF are true pioneers of music and their contributions will live on forever!
This song has a Syd Barrett mood .... that melody, that poetry, that way of singing it ❤ definitely one of their most psychedelic songs. Love this video, very rare
Love this tune. My favourite from Ummagumma.
There is no other song like this for just summertime remembrance and hazy English countryside. Cirrus Minor is a close second.

Just been to Grantchester, a few miles outside Cambridge. The river is the Cam river that flows through Grantchester, a serene village. No wonder the Pink Floyd made a song on the beauty of this village. David grew up here too.
This song is amazing, 4:30 am and I’m listening to it while trying to wake up my kids up. Beautiful sound to start the day 💜💜💜
Why are you waking your children at 04:30?

YES! KEEP RELEASING THIS STUFF PLEASE!! MORE FLOYD CONTENT WOO!!!
they will never know the feeling of freedom that we felt !!!!
eu quero viver nessa música
i like fast, upbeat music. jazz, country, clasical, rock, it doesn't matter. i'm not a big ballad fan. the beatles produced, on a consistent basis, the only ballads that i enjoy. but the floyd, the pink floyd, certainly come in second.
this is one of the most viscerally satisfying songs i've ever heard. the song oozes with warmth, calmness and contentment. just remarkable. thank you pink floyd, ALL OF YOU, for the pleasure you unleashed me and the world.

But ... please also release the songs from "La Carrera Panamericana", especially the beautiful "Country Theme" and the great "Pan Am Shuffle" and the nice "Carrera Slow Blues" ... i really would love to hear these songs for the first time in my life in good sound quality and without the sounds of car engines

Scarborough fair was originally an English folk song so all very folky!
Always been my favourite Floyd song, says everything about what I'm about. When I die, this is number one on the play list as they throw soil over me.
Sit in nature and watch it, hear it, feel it! It's magic. Love Gilmore to slide his guitar as I 'go to ground," but he may go before me.

Brilliant song , shine on Peter mc donnell ,we often used to just sit and listen to this ,Rip my lovely brother, see ya when I get there 😘
Gorgeous.
I played this to the guy that introduced me to Floyd 19 years after he did so.
I wouldn't say I became a bigger fan or enjoyed Floyd any more than him over those 19 years but I got into the music industry for a while and shopping for records was certainly more a regular part of my life than it was his. He became a plumber
Years after I gave up staging and lighting and all that stuff I went back to being a builder and he came to do some work with me near my house.
It was when I was making us some sandwiches at mine on a break when he noticed my records.
I put Grantchester Meadows on for him and he was blown away. First thing he did when it finished was stand up, exclaim how beautiful a track it was and then put the needle back.
I swear he was asleep five minutes later when I brought the food in.
He listens to this a lot now. A good feeling that was, introducing him to a track he loved so much from a band he introduced me to nearly 20 yr before, that I loved so much.
No one cares lol

"Golden sun flakes" - I can almost see them - Pink Floyd uber alles!
Loved this since I first heard it. Early 70s
Bellissimo!
Best summer song ever!!! Even in the tough competition from other lovely P F summery songs. When I row in the stream in Västerås (pronunced exactly like Westeros in Game of thrones) I always sing this one. Sometimes automatically, doesn't hardly notice I am doing it hahaha!!! It is so deep in my mind when being in suchg a summer environment :-)
Back in the day my friends and I smoked a lot of joints while drifting away to that beautiful song .
is very better the version where david sings the chorus alone but still a very good poetry
Just love to Listen to it, thank you guys

What can say bout this. Words cannot express my feelings about this work of unlimited joy it brings to me. It warms my soul as I allows it to bask in the bliss I feel it gives me.
P.S. Pink Floyd is a another galaxy.
This is the perfect example of why David and Roger should collaborate again.
Just a master piece
A serene ambient song by the Floyd, that captures the essence of a summers day surrounded by nature. I like the line ' and a river of green is sliding unseen beneath the trees..' reminds me of the other day of having a picnic lazily reading a book beneath the treeline embankment of the river Ribble, sun streaking through the trees and branch leaves drifting in the water, birds chirping..just like the song! a great soundtrack to a summers day.
When the Floyd were a great innovative group!
Sounds like a precursor to Goodbye Blue Sky. Beautiful.
This is why we want a Pink Floyd reunion. We are selfish and want to hear the music from the men that made us fall in love with Floyd. Yes, Richard Wright is gone but come on guys, there aren't many years left. Put your egos aside and play.
I created a 46 part pink floyd compilation called eclipsed years ago.
