Just made the chocolate peanut butter smoothie following this recipe and it’s delicious. The dates do something magical to this combination of flavors, 10/10.
Personally I like to make a batch of “smoothie bags” and put them in the freezer. Chop the fruits and veg, freeze, when you want it pop that in the blender, add liquids, badabing you got a nice smoothie
@Kai Hall let's remember that this doesn't apply to alcoholic of soft drink beverages that have whole ice cubes. If you put just a bit of ice, the heat from the ambient temperature and the liquid will make it melt faster so you're left with a watered down and hot, shitty drink. If you put a lot of ice then it keeps cooler for longer and doesn't melt half as fast. The reason it's better to use frozen fruit rather than ice in smoothies is because fruit is already 80%+ water and the sugars in the fruit aren't as concentrated as in a cocacola. It all about context. Edit: forgot to mention that a big benefit of Frozen fruti over using ice in smoothies is that the drink will take a lot longer to "separate" as it happens sometimes when the solids go to the top and the water stays at the bottom. I think this is the most horrible thing to see when you ask for a smoothie and it's already separated by the time the waiter gets it to your table
At the college I went to my roommate who had a lisp who was annoying as hell with an alarm that would wake him up and not me who I had to yell at to wake up in the morning who thinks that cooking chicken unseasoned and dipping it in barbecue sauce counts as seasoning says that “without the ithe, the flavor would be too sthrong” As you could probably tell, we did not get along.

FinTheHuman cause it gross in a smoothie, the flavor is bad in it and shows to much unlike spinach in which you can barely taste it. I dont think he has a problem with it outside of smoothies
I really like putting yogurt in my smoothies, makes it nice and thicc. You can use flavored or plain yogurt. Be careful not to put to much yogurt because it will be very tart I would say a 3rd of a cup is a good amount.
My daily smoothie: 140 g frozen fruit (usually blueberry or strawberry for me, but mango is good too) 100 g frozen banana slices (I slice and freeze on a silpat, then put them in a zip-lock baggie or freezer container) 50 g spinach (I buy fresh spinach, then freeze it) 140 g greek yogurt (team Chobani all the way) 230 g liquid (I do half orange or pineapple juice and half non-dairy milk) This is super basic, but you get a pretty consistent amount and viscosity every time. I also add spirulina powder, but that does not add to the taste or texture of the smoothie at all. If I am more hungry, I add 1/2 c cooked instant oats that I pre-blend. It adds nice fiber and bulk to the smoothie to keep you full for a longer time.
I’m sure someone has already said this somewhere but anyways you should use coconut water instead of regular water. More nutrients and it adds a nice subtle taste
When I worked in a Smoothie store, the best item to create texture to the smoothie was nonfat Frozen yogurt/sherbet. Ex) Apple Juice + Non fat vanilla froyo + Strawberries & Banana (all frozen). Nice, thick consistency, and delicious
I also am not a fan of finding leafy greens in my smoothie but I know spinach is a good addition- I actually freeze my spinach too and I think it works better for me!!
My go-to smoothie is frozen banana, frozen strawberries, an apple, orange juice and a handful of spinach (sometimes I add a stick of celery). My second favourite is just an apple, 1/4 red beet, 1 stick of celery, water and some lemon juice. 😊
I bought a Nutri-Bullet a short while back and I've been getting into the smoothies. I think your best tip here was about freezing the fruit before you use it. Smoothies are a great way to up your fruit and veg count for the day, they taste great too. I tried putting kale into one, like you, I'm not a fan.
I have a Hamilton Beach something or other, 16 oz with a travel mug lid, I got for free by doing surveys on the internet for points, Target has the same one for like $20 or 30 I think, it works fine for me.
You can use yogurt instead of milk as well. I like Icelandic style yogurt in mine. And I agree, you can't hide the taste of kale. Spinach works just fine.
My old local smoothie shop did themed musical drinks, the best was the Yellow Submarine which was frozen melon balls, apple juice, frozen pineapple, frozen green grapes, and lemon sherbet which was heavenly in summer 😋❤️

One recent interesting thing I did recently was a cherry smoothie, where I added vanilla almond milk, frozen black cherries, a small amount of 100% real cherry juice, and cherry Greek yogurt. Next stop: a strawberry-peach smoothie.
I did this really weird thing once when I heard that stinging nettles (urtica dioica) are actually a superfood (which they are), so I picked some and made a banana-peanut-stinging nettle-ice-milk smoothie and it was actually really good.

I just found you, recently, and have been binging through your catalogue. This one hit home for me. I have some rules, for myself, that seem to overlap with yours (I've only barely started though, I could be wrong). 1. The only leafy vegetable I can accept in my smoothie is spinach, and that shit better be fresh. The tiniest bit of wilt gives a specific flavor that WILL make me gag, usually leading to instantaneous vomit. Don't even try to Mr. Creosote me on this. 2. No ice. Freeze the fruit if you want it icy. Use sherbet or sorbet. Something with flavor. Freeze some juice cubes, if you must. 3. Keep the "green" flavors (thinking spirulina, etc.) to a minimum, and get some acidity to cut it. Sure, it's good for you, but you don't need THAT much, and smoothies aren't meant to taste like I'm drinking my lawn. My stepmother would make smoothies with fresh, unfrozen fruit, water, ice cubes, and gross herbal additives. She even admitted it didn't exactly taste good. But, "It's not THAT bad, so don't complain, and just drink it." Don't do that to yourselves, folks. You deserve better. Keep it fun and tasty, while keeping it healthy! Those concepts don't need to be mutually exclusive. (Edit) I accept your ice usage in the peanut butter, but I can't bring myself to drink nut butter smoothies. It's a texture revolt moment for me!
I have never tried adding carrots to my smoothies, but carrot juice is one my favorite things to drink.I will try a maybe make like a peach and carrot smoothie with milk, and just a touch of ice for cold not frozen drink.
Also worth noting a lot of fruits can either be classed as watery/juicy or heavy. Mango, banana and avocado* are heavy fruits, if you put them in a smoothie you'll notice they often become the focal point even if you put other things in it in equal quantity. These fruit also naturally go well with milk and greek yoghurt. The only exception to this is avocado, which has a heavy texture, but it's flavour is so mild it doesn't quite act the same as banana and mango. Nectarines, pears, berries etc. are all watery/juicy. If you put these in a blender without some kind of dairy or heavy fruit, it wouldn't even really be a smoothie, it'd just be juice, wouldn't it? I like to have a heavy fruit base that is the focal point of the smoothie, and use watery/juicy fruits to reduce the viscosity whilst still adding interesting flavours.

Here's a thought for necessary dilution - freeze some tea into cubes or use chilled tea. Not sweetened, because if the smoothie needs to be diluted, it means it doesn't need sweetening, but a plain tea might work well. Also, for the chocolate peanut butter one? A teashop chain I know sells cocoa shell tea. It brews into a mild-flavoured chocolate tea. Seems like the sort of dilution a milky smoothie could work with.

The morning smoothie that I used to prep when I didn't have the time for breakfast - cause a half an hour more sleep was more important to me than a normal breakfast - was: Banana Cacao powder Spinach Nut Butter Black Coffee Ice I used to drink this in the train on the way to uni. Hello, I always add hemp seeds in my smoothies I buy them at Maison d'Herbes. They have chocolate or vanilla and the seeds add a delicious nutty taste. I also love the exceptional properties.
Just gonna hop in here and give ya'll my favorite smoothie recipe since nobody asked: Use a generous amount of pineapple juice as a base, add a handful of frozen blueberries, frozen mango and fresh spinach each and lastly add some grated turmeric. It gets super frothy and smooth if you blend it for a while and it's insanely anti-inflammatory and has really helped bring my immune system back from the grave. Bonus would be a teaspoon of Manuka honey, but honestly, the juice makes it quite sweet already and we aren't all rich, so.

Hold up! What was in that honey jar? It looked like garlic and chile flakes. Am I wrong? Do we need more information on that? DID I POSSIBLY MISS A VIDEO?! I dunno.
It’s garlic honey. Really good for you
@@dotdotwav Yeah, it's something called Allyson or something, it's what us really good for you. You crush the garlic for it, it's like a 2 part epoxy
@@elgamer3003 A 2 part epoxy you say?
@@elgamer3003 god i love him
@@elgamer3003 lmao, its like a 2 part epoxy vinny... allalalliccinamon
I feel about Orange juice in smoothies how you feel about kale in smoothies 😅
I'll use kale in a smoothie if the store is out of baby spinach (surprisingly frequent where I live) but it's certainly not my first choice.
I have two go-to smoothies that are really good. My PB smoothie is oat milk, frozen banana, 1 date, cocoa powder, and PB2 powder. Strawberry banana is just frozen strawberries, frozen bananas, oat milk, and a little honey to taste.
the bird chirping though certain moments in the video is a unnoticed but very nice detail

Ur profile pic made me think about my old cat :*(
peach + strawberry + mango + no sugar lemonade = GOODNESS
1 cup and 2 cup = 8oz and 16 oz respectively (for us Americans who buy strawberries from the store measured in oz)

Thanks! TBH I haven't made a smoothie for myself in years and needed a recap thaaanks on the tip for no ice. I will wait another day and freeze my fruits. 🤗 also u can freeze the liquid into ice cubes: oj cubes, coco water cubes etc)
honestly the best one in my opinion is the chocolate peanut butter smoothie. also you do not need to add the dates and i recommend a good amount of ice. It is way better frosty.
As someone who’s worked in kitchens before it’s funny how I knew you had a vitamin just by looking at how the smoothie flows in the blender lol
Yesssss! kale is good in some things, but he is right... Even a micron of kale juice is unacceptable in a smoothie... Those are supposed to be refreshing... Not questionably kale-y...
I fell in love with you when you said 'and none of them include kale'
try this one, its amazinggg: milk, frozen banana or two (idk I'm talking about ingredients not quantity lol) avocado, date, bit of honey, and almonds (yes like actual almonds). my mom makes this sometimes and let me tell you, i LOVE it.
Honestly kale isn't bad WHEN you have a strong fruit with it. I personally only use kale with pineapple, and a lot of it.
Also the ginger smoothie sounds so good, I'm gonna have to try it!
I used grapes and kale, and it was great. Not much of the kale flavour either
The crazy thing is that ive literally made every single one of these smoothies

This was so satisfying to watch! PS- I hate kale too
The morning smoothie that I used to prep when I didn't have the time for breakfast - cause a half an hour more sleep was more important to me than a normal breakfast - was:
Banana
Cacao powder
Spinach
Nut Butter
Black Coffee
Ice
I used to drink this in the train on the way to uni. Surprisingly filling, and the taste was tolerable enough that I could consume this everyday for a whole month (Late night studying for exams are hellish).
Hello, I always add hemp seeds in my smoothies I buy them at Maison d'Herbes.
They have chocolate or vanilla and the seeds add a delicious nutty taste. I also love the exceptional properties.
You're my cooking master ❤️
Lovely like always
I think I just found my favorite UA-cam chef
Me too!! Love the music too
I’m watching this while drinking a blueberry spinach smoothie.
You should try putting Kale in your smoothies, its good.
had a job interview at a smoothie place and used this vid to help me study!
Just gonna hop in here and give ya'll my favorite smoothie recipe since nobody asked:
Use a generous amount of pineapple juice as a base, add a handful of frozen blueberries, frozen mango and fresh spinach each and lastly add some grated turmeric. It gets super frothy and smooth if you blend it for a while and it's insanely anti-inflammatory and has really helped bring my immune system back from the grave. Bonus would be a teaspoon of Manuka honey, but honestly, the juice makes it quite sweet already and we aren't all rich, so.
I like to use frozen broccoli and zucchini (either frozen or fresh) to add thickness. Mild flavours and ups the vegetable intake.
Real water? 🤣😂 Love your channel. Always makes my day.
I love adding ginger to all of my smoothies 😋
First rule of smoothie : The smoothie goes in a jar not a glass
