When I get home from the market, I put my greens ( usually Kroger power greens) in sandwich bags (2 cups per) and pop them in the freezer. If I don't do this, I frequently lose some greens when they become slime. I agree with you that every smoothie needs greens. For me it is 2 cups in every smoothie.
I make green smoothies almost every day and I sweeten them with a spoonful of orange juice concentrate. It may be too much sugar but I feel that since I really pack in lots of kale and spinache in my smoothies that it's worth it to make it more palateable. Over time I will try to decrease the amount of oj however.
Great tips! My go to smoothie is spinach, kale, few blueberries, banana, chia seeds, spirulina, chlorella, water and few nuts. Very tasty and keeps me full
I use turmeric and ginger tea as my smoothie base. It works beautifully and keeps my stomach from cramping up. I also use the Ace blender which works really well and isn't expensive. I use oat flour and nut butter for protein and I have to use a tablespoon of honey when I put celery in my smoothie because the celery taste is just too strong.
Oat flour has protein?! Are you sure? That's the first I hear of that. Update: OK, I checked and you're right :) However, I'll opt for using just oat milk instead. I wouldn't want the smoothie to get too thick.
🌟My best tip: blend all ingredients except the protein and avocado.... then in a medium to low speed add in them in (it prevents extra air bubbles) my tummy does not like extra bubbles 😆 I am such a smoothie lover also 😍I use my vitamin like three times a day 🎉
Very interesting. I always blend the protein on high bc i feel like it thins the smoothie more, whereas when my mom makes it on low speed it is very thick… but maybe i will try your suggestion and see how it comes out.
I’m one who likes the fibery feel in my smoothies, as it tends to slow me down with drinking it. Absolutely LOVE to throw in some oats or even some broccoli for the fibery feel. 😊
My smoothies are made mostly of veggies 🥦🥒🥬😂 I find that 1/2 a ripe banana or 2/3 cup of berries is all I need! I loveeee adding cinnamon! My favorite non banana smoothies is a pineapple mango smoothie! (1/3 cup of each) 😋I enjoy just using hemp seeds (or sometimes plain Greek yogurt) for my protein!
I was surprised you didn't mention beans. Great fiber, protein and really fills you up that way. I put about 1/3 c of garbanzo or white beans in most of my smoothies. Otherwise, you had some great tips! I've learned much from you over the years!
Oh cool tip! I need to get more beans in! I bet black beans into my chocolate smoothies would be great b/c there are black bean brownie desserts that taste good. :) thanks for the ideas!
Hey, so, if you are the smoothie queen, how about some advice for people who want to do healthy smoothies that doesn't have that budget to be constantly changing up their ingredients and constantly using fresh ingredients. I've made smoothies in the past and now realize some of the mistakes I was making. Your insights will definitely help me improve my smoothie-making skills. One more thing, I've tried using True chai seeds in my smoothies, and they've added a wonderful texture and nutritional value. Thank you for sharing this valuable information!
My go to smoothie: About a cup of Greek yoghurt or soy yoghurt (unsweetened or vanilla) Handful of redberries from our garden (frozen) Teaspoon of sea-buckthorn juice or around three berries, again from my garden Half tablespoon of honey Blend together and enjoy! Obviously, this turns out quite sour but that's how I like it and doesn't have much ingredients. I sometimes put in bananas and other berries I pick from my garden, but this is my favourite. Simple and good. Sidenote, I live in Finland
Great video! Absolutely agree that it's not necessary to add sweeteners to the smoothie. The only powder I would consider adding is Spirulina because it is so difficult to get fresh. Which Beans would you recommend to add to a smoothie?
Peas are 8g of protein per cup. It's filling, green, starchy, and has protein. Kind of a win everywhere. Also, peas are gross and it helps to eat them this way. 😂
The only peas I have ever eaten that were gross were canned peas. Frozen peas mixed with potatoes or rice dishes are awesome. A good pea soup is one of my favorites.
Thank you for sharing. Glad you brought up the “ over sweetening”. I’m new to the crafting of smoothies here’s were I need some counsel. The research I’ve done most seem to be sweet. I’d rather drink a V8 rather then a taste of ice cream. If you, or others can direct me in some recipes that may lean towards the V8 taste I’d greatly appreciate it.
A lot of times people add way too much fruit so it just makes the smoothie way to full of sugar. Most smoothies contain way more fruit than anyone would think about eating in one sitting
I made my first kale smoothie today with strawberry, banana, kale, moringa, turmeric, kefir, and bit half and half bit water. So wonderful. Just as good as a milk shake. You have great ideas. Take care.
Thanks for the tips, especially the "too much milk" tip. I buy high quality nut milks with no added sugar or fillers, so the price is higher than most box milks. This tip will help me save money in the long run.
Great tips! One of my favorites that I always like to live by is not always putting milk or yogurt into your smoothies and just use simple water as a base. I would love to watch any and all smoothie recipes that you would like to make.
we love your antioxidant smoothie with the beetroot, chard and blueberry. Yes, blender is very important, we bought the small vitamix and luckily it was 50 pounds off, but I’ve heard you can by second had as good as new 🥑🥑🥑🥑
I have the same Vitamix I bought at the California State Fair 23 years ago. It works perfectly and I use it every day! Raised my kids with it and now they each have their own homes and their own Vitamix blenders! Such a good investment!
The first time I used your perfect green smoothie guide, I would have never thought to add almond butter to a smoothie. I added it with protein powder I literally was so full till lunch. Thank you for giving me the idea I would have never thought of that for the protein choice in your smoothie guide, can I do 2 proteins or do you recommend just one protein
LOVE hearing this!!! So glad you're enjoying the green smoothie guide! For protein, you could use two if you'd like, just cut down on the portions of protein so that it's not too much.
That’s funny I know most people love banana in the smoothie but for me it just doesn’t work it makes me nauseous when i add banana in it( except for a chocolate healthy dessert smoothie i make for my kids. The PB in it covers the banana taste)
A super fun and tasty option: use Kombucha as a base! We make what we call a "Smoochie" which is a Kombucha smoothie: Kombucha, honey (if desired), half a frozen banana, and choice of frozen fruit or fresh greens!! It is a top seller for us because it's a tasty balance and works well with most of our "add-on" ingredients. Just something to try!! Great video!!
i use a nutribullet. i had it 4 year with no problems. i use it 5/a week. i will never use frozen fruits or put any dairy products and any sweeteners in it. i put alkalizing and ionizing water and organic salt(celtic salt). sometimes i will put cayenne or cinnamin. i try to go to the farmer market to buy my produces when i can. it taste so much better than the grocery store chains. plus it help the farmers as well. good video, thanks
oat milk is very expensive and super easy to make!! use 1 part oats to 3 parts water, blend with sweetener and a pinch of salt strain with a nut milk bag for best results but a strainer or cheesecloth works too! it can be stored for about a week in the fridge.
Hi :D I think you can add water and oats to your blender alone and blend so that you get oatmilk with pulp. Then add the veggies and fruit. The oat pulp will not be noticeable in a smoothie plus it is extra fiber.
If you have a high powered blender, Just toss a few pinches of oats into the blender with your water and smoothie ingredients ~ the oat milk gets made at the same time as the smoothie 😊
For sure! Nothing wrong with fresh fruits blended with veggies! Thats just a preference of hers. You go ahead and enjoy your smoothies with your added fruit! We just have to make sure we don't consume too much of the sweeter fruits that are higher sugar, thats all. If your drinking them instead of eating, by all means , you add the fruits that you love!
Same here! Don’t like smoothie taste like veggies. Love it with fruits! I put my fruits in the freezer. Strawberries, pineapple, orange, mango and cantaloupe. Add 1tbs honey and 1tbs apple cider vinegar.
I’m caring for my 94yr. old dad and his doctors tell me he needs more iron in his diet so I’m making a kale smoothie. Your video gave me some ideas. Thank you
Happy I found this! Looking to go back to smoothies for breakfast, but found my smoothies lacking. And my blender broke. But have been craving smoothies again!
Another common mistake (this video actually shows it) is: *Put liquids first, then soft ingredients like greens then the hard/frozen ingredients such as fruits/veggies/nuts.* It blends faster and more time efficient.
So i just recently bought a blender to make smoothies. Been struggling to be creative to let alone make it a balanced meal. This video was super helpful thank you!
Needed this in my life!! Thanks for sharing 🥑 also I got a ninja blender last November during Black Friday and it was originally 99 and I got it for 49 I think it work well so my tip is always wait for sales lol
Awesome video. Thank you. I've been mastering my smoothies since March. I've been doing it quite right after watching your video. I am thrilled. So happy. Thank you.
I agree with most of your tips. I've been making breakfast smoothies for years. Only recently did I finally treat myself to a Vitamix 5300 ~ I just love it & only regret that I did not buy one sooner (got a good price). I often add 1/4 cup oats to my smoothies & that keeps me full for hours! My new favorite vegan milkshake: 1 cup original Silk soy milk, 4 frozen pitted cherries, 1/2 frozen banana, 1 Tb carob powder (or cocoa powder), 1 Tb maple syrup, large handful baby spinach ~ yum! :)
Video: use more vegetables or it's just a dessert Me: loads in frozen mango, pineapples, and strawberries with 100% grape juice... Hmm and now a single spinach leaf XD
My #1 smoothie tip: eat it with something solid, such as toast, granola, nuts, or whole fruit. This is the only way I’ve found smoothies will keep me full.
What smoothie do you recommend for people who suffer from gastritis! I have a juicer cam I use it to make smoothies???: I'm trying to heal my gut and I'm trying to find natural ways in doing so! Thank you so much in advance!! Be blessed!!
I don't really know about gastritis, but I have IBS, and I found that while I often have problems with vegetables, I can digest microgreens fine. I grow them at home (for smoothies I use sunflower, flax and buckwheat). My smoothies are very simple: two quarters microgreens, one quarter fruit (most often banana and blueberries), one quarter water - by volume, not weight. But you definitely need a blender. And be sure to use at least one sort of fruit with soluble fibre (banana, mango, strawberry etc.), that makes the texture nicer. And not too much buckwheat (can cause phototoxicity). These work great for me, maybe it's worth a try for you. too.
Excellent presentation! I am a nutritionist/health coach. It is easy to overdo the fruits. A combination of healthy fats, protein and carbohydrates is best. Avocado is technically a fruit and can be used as such without adding sugar.
for ppl who cant fork out 6 bills for a machine. You can get tons of deal in the resale market for at least half price or 1/3 if look really hard...and it will still do the job. You dont get too many lemons with these machines and will likely last longer than you in most cases. I got all mine in the resale markets and never have problems...I love the premium customer service that you get with it as well
I went to the supermarket the other day & in the fresh produce section they had a plastic tote where they were collecting all the dark green cabbage leaves that people pull off so their cabbage won’t weigh as much. Anyway I got a plastic bag from the rolls of plastic bags you can put fruit in & I got a bunch of those dark green cabbage leaves that they were gonna throw away & they cost only $.40. I brought them home, washed them & broke in smaller pieces to put in my Ninga blender…they were delicious & cheap. I put other things too of course. I even put almonds in there & didn’t get hungry for hours. Also bought a big cauliflower & learned how to cut it up. I also put powdered Power Beets, circulation superfood. It makes your vegetable smoothie taste sweet but there’s no sugar in it. I just started doing these smoothies & I am hooked on them.
I always put in my soothie some oil(coconut oil, flax seed oil or ghee butter), then i put some berries, half an avokado, spirulina or moringa powder, a litle bit of mix of water yogurt and kefir, and i also put some grains, like kinoa grains, or amarant or buckwheat or even millet...i dont put veggies, i will wotk on that thanks a lot great video❤🙏
Love your channel and would love to see a Omega 3 rich smoothie or a women Hormone smoothie. Lol that sounds weird but I make Maca and Matcha smoothie and it is the bomb!
@@jacklynmadrigal292 Hi, I add 1-1.5 cups of H20 or a mix of H2O & Coconut water, a mix of 2-3 handfuls of power greens or spinach, handful of Italian Parsley, grated ginger, 1/2 frozen banana, dragon fruit or berries, squeeze of lemon. It's really good and energizing!
Thank you for great video! You could also add Fruttberry powder blend to these smoothies and get a greater variety of vegetables and fruits in the easiest way!
Should you steam cruciferous vegetables before putting them in smoothies? And should Chia and flax seeds be soaked and rinsed overnight before putting them in smoothies?
I have a question. I usually freeze my vegetables that I usd for smoothies, vegetables such as spinach, kale and cucumbers. Is that good or bad? Do they lose their nutritional value? Thank you.
JayPenus I have a vitamix and I find it better if I blend the greens and liquids first. I keep wondering if I’m doing something wrong cause I never get things blended the way I want.
Hello! First time here. Great job. Since this is from 2019, I was wondering if your recommendation for a highspeed blender has upgraded or is still the same. Thank you.
I loved this. I basically have been binge watching all your videos for about 6 weeks now. The pregnancy and baby videos are my fav. Watching you always have your green smoothie got me on the hype. Me and my partner have a green smoothie every morning now. This made me realise i need to mix it up with my veggies and fats!!! Thank you
skdavidnba yea I think the one I got is bad too. The blades are in the middle instead of the bottom and leaves things chunky... can’t return cuz I lost the receipt ):
My ninja, which we bought from a friend, doesn't work well with the big canister, but the single-size cups do fine. Best if I blend the greens and liquid first, then add the rest.
I think this is an important tip for people like me who hate wasting any bit of food. When I am finished with a thick smoothie (and I drink from the blender jar), I add a bit of liquid (milk, juice etc) to blend it. It makes sure I am drinking every bit of the smoothie and the blender is easier to clean afterwards.
So I wanted to chime in as someone who is dealing with crohn's disease I have to use the protein powders that have Greens in it because raw vegetables don't get properly absorbed in their raw form so the powder makes it more bioavailable for my body and takes the strain off my digestive tract long enough for it to absorb all the ingredients in the smoothie and do something good with the stuff that I'm giving it. 💃🐹💕🥰 🌎💚🌍💚🌏
My go-to smoothie is: -A handful of kale or spinach -Some celery or cucumber -Half an avocado -1 ripe banana -A scoop of blueberries -Some chia and flax seeds -1 teaspoon of cacao powder -And finally oatmilk
@@Michelle-pn9xt GINGER! I said ginger in a smoothie! And ginger tea. So obviously not the tea in a smoothie tggggg also sugar is sugar even if it's from fruit and I never said fruit isn't healthy but just not much because of the natural sugars
Legion Athletics Protein Powder is my go to since it has mostly simple ingredients and they routinely test to ensure the producer is meeting the expectations set by Legion. I use Strawberry/Banana powder for most Fruit Smoothies. They also have unflavored which is great for smoothies as there are other flavors to make them taste amazing. I love the idea of adding Healthy Fats to ensure it keeps you feeling full longer. Vitamix and Blendtec are amazing Blenders! I use a Vitamix at home, but when I worked for Starbuck's as a youngster, the Frappacino blenders are all Blendtecs.
If you blend long [or longer] the heat will destroy the nutrients, so in essence, you want to minimize the processing time. That's why it is so expensive.
Cheap ass method u gonna have to buy another blender when that trash blender breaks down 2 days after the warranty expires lol get a Vitamix Ascent 10 year warranty. I could play baseball with this shit and still be fine lol
@@NewYork-ILDIKONYARI the heat from blending will destroy the nutrients..... get your head together maybe if you blend it until the neighbours are at the door yelling you might warm it up slightly but youre not gonna cook black blending it for 90seconds
I love the ideas. This is what I needed to hear about being satiated on a balanced healthy smoothie. As for adding sugars I'm gonna gradually reduce that because I'm the type that won't drink it if it's not sweet or tasty. I've got myself into a jam with sugar addiction so I'm gonna ween off of it gradually using honey and other natural sugars until I'm straight.
I have a mild allergy to bananas, even though I LOVE them! So I would love smoothie ideas that don't include them OR yogurt because I'm dairy free mostly. Thanks!!
So happy your channel was recommended...finally a health channel with a Healthy looking person... being diabetic, i avoid bananas because of the high sugar levels they contain....could you consider doing a diabetes friendly smoothie segment?
1) Too much milk (Use half milk half water)
2) Don’t overuse fruits (Use more veg)
3) Too little healthy fats and fibre
4) No need for extra sweeteners (Honey, maple syrup, juice)
5) Using protein powders with lots of sugars
6) Not adding real fresh raw leafy greens (Spinach, Kale)
7) Too little variety in smoothie ingredients (Rotate ingredients)
8) Use a good blender (Recommended blenders linked in description)
9) Not using ripened fruit
10) Not adding in protein (Not necessarily protein powder)
Hope that helps if your short on time :)

If you have a high powered blender, Just toss a few pinches of oats into the blender with your water and smoothie ingredients ~ the oat milk gets made at the same time as the smoothie 😊
I’m not into my smoothies tasting like vegetables, LOL. If I’m not adding extra sweeteners, at least let me add a lot of fruit 😂
Linzie Rosa real talk!!
Noop
Try blueberries and or all berries from the freezer.
She is absolutely correct I love your recipe and I’m following your way thank you for your awesome advice 👍
I’m caring for my 94yr. old dad and his doctors tell me he needs more iron in his diet so I’m making a kale smoothie. Your video gave me some ideas. Thank you
Love these tips! I'm always telling clients to watch their fruit:veggie ratio!
Happy I found this! Looking to go back to smoothies for breakfast, but found my smoothies lacking. And my blender broke. But have been craving smoothies again!
Another common mistake (this video actually shows it) is:
*Put liquids first, then soft ingredients like greens then the hard/frozen ingredients such as fruits/veggies/nuts.*
It blends faster and more time efficient.
Good to know. Thanks.
So i just recently bought a blender to make smoothies. Been struggling to be creative to let alone make it a balanced meal. This video was super helpful thank you!
Needed this in my life!! Thanks for sharing 🥑 also I got a ninja blender last November during Black Friday and it was originally 99 and I got it for 49 I think it work well so my tip is always wait for sales lol
good thinking!
Awesome video. Thank you. I've been mastering my smoothies since March. I've been doing it quite right after watching your video. I am thrilled. So happy. Thank you.
Could you provide more information about collagen supplements? Thanks for the tips
Very HELPFUL. THANK YOU.❤
I agree with most of your tips. :)

What's it taste like?
I live with my sister and I want to start making smoothies again in the morning for the both of us. Great tips! Love bananas! I love my Vitamix!
I like a plain Greek yogurt for my morning smoothies if I'm not wanting peanut or almond butter. 😊
That's great as well! 👌🏼
Pitted and chopped Dates not only naturally sweeten but also have lots of fiber.
Video: use more vegetables or it's just a dessert
Me: loads in frozen mango, pineapples, and strawberries with 100% grape juice... Hmm and now a single spinach leaf XD
Lol me too but with 1 cup orange juice and a handful of baby spinach XD
I like a great smoothie. Thanks for showing how to make them better. Please send the link.
These work great for me, maybe it's worth a try for you. too.
@@Panbaneesha thank you I'll have to get a blender and try one!! Be Blessed!!
@@kick-n-itwithshng9223 Good luck!
I got all mine in the resale markets and never have problems...I love the premium customer service that you get with it as well
SOOOOO HELPFUL! Definitely going to try cauliflower in my smoothies! PLEEEEEEASE make some banana free smoothie recipes. That would be so appreciated!
Yes banana free... I detest bananas 😖😖
on it!
@@HealthNutNutrition Did you make a banana or fruit free smoothies video? I'd love to see it! (:
I felt like I was in trouble the whole time this video was on, 10/10
Great tips. I am also bigger on vegetables in smoothies, fruit is just to sweeten things up.
I love all your videos! I’m a follower since so long!
I put soft tofu in my smoothie as protein, it also give a really smooth texture :)
Can you taste the tofu in it?
Do u know if tofu can be frozen?
@@fionagillespie9257 Jes, I think so. It may change the texture a little bit but that does not matter in a smoothie.
Thank you Virginie!! 😊
Lol that sounds weird but I make Maca and Matcha smoothie and it is the bomb!
christina wilde A maca and matcha smoothie sounds amazing!!! 💚 What else do you put in it?
@@jacklynmadrigal292 Hi, I add 1-1.5 cups of H20 or a mix of H2O & Coconut water, a mix of 2-3 handfuls of power greens or spinach, handful of Italian Parsley, grated ginger, 1/2 frozen banana, dragon fruit or berries, squeeze of lemon. It's really good and energizing!
christina wilde Awesome thank you! I'm going to give it a try.
@@jacklynmadrigal292 I think you will like it and I use Z!nt Maca organic gelatinized powder and organic Japanese Matcha (Jade Leaf).
Thank you for great video!
You could also add Fruttberry powder blend to these smoothies and get a greater variety of vegetables and fruits in the easiest way!
Tofu has great protein and it adds a great creaminess
never added it to a smoothie before
Silken tofu, I've considered it! Like, in place of yogurt?
Should you steam cruciferous vegetables before putting them in smoothies? And should Chia and flax seeds be soaked and rinsed overnight before putting them in smoothies?
I have a question. I usually freeze my vegetables that I usd for smoothies, vegetables such as spinach, kale and cucumbers. Is that good or bad? Do they lose their nutritional value?
Thank you.
Thanks you, very helpful video, i'm a newbie, can't wait to start Juicing!
Blend greens first so it won't be chunky.
Exactly. Leafy greens and the liquid you are using
Jade De Leon use a vitamix👶
JayPee they’re sooo expensive!
Thank you.
I like balanced smoothies that have good amount of vegetables and the sweetness of fruits (but not too sweet)
love that!
I’m embracing healthy lifestyle and I love this channel. And I made my malunggay smoothie today. I love it. 😊 Thank you for this info 👍🏻

Thanks for the tips.
You can get collagen from plant sources no need to pay for animals to be harmed
Agreed. When I started using a half banana instead of a whole banana, I enjoyed it just as much.
😮
I loved this. I basically have been binge watching all your videos for about 6 weeks now. The pregnancy and baby videos are my fav. Watching you always have your green smoothie got me on the hype. Me and my partner have a green smoothie every morning now. This made me realise i need to mix it up with my veggies and fats!!! Thank you

Binge😂😅😊😮❤
Nice lady just brought blender looking forward to following some of her tips
I use the ninja blender and blends all my fruits and veggies like a dream . 10/10
So weird. Had ninja and still got very pulpy and clunks of veg pieces. Had to return 😢😢😢😢
skdavidnba yea I think the one I got is bad too.
💃🐹💕🥰
🌎💚🌍💚🌏
My go-to smoothie is:
-A handful of kale or spinach
-Some celery or cucumber
-Half an avocado
-1 ripe banana
-A scoop of blueberries
-Some chia and flax seeds
-1 teaspoon of cacao powder
-And finally oatmilk
Thanks for your videos! You’re doing a great job! 😊🌐🌐😊
Ginger is life! A must have in smoothies, in tea , or just a gingershot. I so agree with you, not to much fruit because that's loaded with sugar💕
Fruit is good for you. It is natural sugar. Fruit is not candy. Tea in a smoothie??? I will keep my fruit.
@@Michelle-pn9xt GINGER! I said ginger in a smoothie! And ginger tea. So obviously not the tea in a smoothie tggggg also sugar is sugar even if it's from fruit and I never said fruit isn't healthy but just not much because of the natural sugars
Thanks for all the great tips! I definitely need to cut back on the fruit, you have inspired me to do green smoothies for breakfast this week!
Breville is another great blender.
You don't have to waste money on an expensive blender. Just blend longer.
If you blend long [or longer] the heat will destroy the nutrients, so in essence, you want to minimize the processing time. That's why it is so expensive.
I think if you blend bit by bit it won’t take as much time
Exactly lol
Cheap ass method u gonna have to buy another blender when that trash blender breaks down 2 days after the warranty expires lol get a Vitamix Ascent 10 year warranty. I could play baseball with this shit and still be fine lol
@@NewYork-ILDIKONYARI the heat from blending will destroy the nutrients..... get your head together maybe if you blend it until the neighbours are at the door yelling you might warm it up slightly but youre not gonna cook black blending it for 90seconds
Very good and smart presentation! Thanks for the good tips. Keep up with the good job!❤
I would say luck of knowing for some people! I LOVE IT, THANK YOU FOR SHARING!
I have a mild allergy to bananas, even though I LOVE them! So I would love smoothie ideas that don't include them OR yogurt because I'm dairy free mostly. Thanks!!
This is probably really late..but check out twin coast on UA-cam... they do smoothies without banana's
@@oreofekomolafe oh thanks so much!

Nutribullet Pro 900 Series is my absolute favorite. My blender is my cup and out the door. It blends everything so smooth I use it for everything
So happy your channel was recommended...finally a health channel with a Healthy looking person... being diabetic, i avoid bananas because of the high sugar levels they contain....could you consider doing a diabetes friendly smoothie segment?
