lilbpack1 Based God knows all the good youtubez!
Informative.
no thank YOU basedgod
thank you for posting based god
you all probably dont care but does any of you know of a trick to get back into an instagram account??
I was dumb forgot the password. I would love any assistance you can give me.
not selling the track outs is a really good point. I play guitar on a lot of my beats and I think that's what's given me an advantage over other producers. so many producers have asked me to sell "guitar sample packs" or "guitar loops" - I know that I could make a TON of cash doing that ... but doing so would literally be selling my sound away. producers would be able to use my live guitars and devalue what i'm doing. great video man. x
The ability to properly edit some of the beats I've bought has been priceless. I can, for example, restructure the tune to something more commercial.
A year ago I asked a guy on 'fiverr' to do a reggea track for me like one I'd heard. His was sompletely different and incredibly sad, too sad. I simply lifed the happy stems and lowered the sad ones. It transformed the beat and I created a great song with it.
I understand as a producer but as an artist who mix by a engineer I noticed my songs overall some better with a track out
That’s the beautiful thing about running your own production business. You can do whatever works for YOU! Been saying this about exclusives for years 💯
Dystinkt Beats I love your beats
Great video. Yea I don't sell trackouts. Unless it's an exclusive sell in person and It makes sense to sell it and then the price is high! The GTA analogy was on point!
DDS825 I’m on it!
What are trackouts, are they like "stems?"
@@crnkmnky yes
I was thinking about this issue as well. I started with only exclusives to make the songs more "personal" (I produce pop/rock music & alternative rock beats)
I'm glad that I added other licensing options. Now I'm overthinking my exclusive prices, you're absolutely right.
"In this life you will not be full of life until you decide to live life to the fullest" I needed that
Based on the information I have gotten from the producer community, I already made that decision to not give away your trackouts for legal issues arise, you are good. To me the Trackouts are the main product and leverage for producers against theft! We are more valuable than we get credit for. Rappers dont make acapella albums. Most of them need us!
For me and just me. I would only give the trackouts when I sell the beats exclusively up to $2000.00 because of the risks Curtiss was talking about. It's a lot of crazy ish out there nowadays and you gotta protect yourself and get your worth.
Never really understood why producers sold trackouts that aren't exclusive to that artist anyways. Im only selling trackouts to those artist that get exclusives for this very reason! Smart approach, different ways to skin the cat tho. I respect it all
That or you can have a contract that state what they can and can't do with the stems especially if you copyright your beats
ProdbyPack TV but if u copyright ur beats aren’t u good. And with track outs the engineer needs em if the mixing isn’t that good
My guess is some producer would rather avoid the hustle of a law suit, even if you know you'll win it eventually, you loose time. So unless the stolen beats made good money, it might not be worth it.
When you said Slight Edge & Compound Effect I subscribed. Fellow producer & new fan. Jason from Dallas, Texas.
I totally respect your honesty, transparency and respect your decision. I think the bigger overlying issue is that a few producers or rappers stealing other producers work is truly messing things up for the good guys like myself buying trackout leases. I get the exclusive thing, but the trackouts leases thing can kinda hurt.
I feel u dawg same here
I heard plenty of great songs recorded over a stereo wav files. Track outs aren’t necessary if the beat was mix well to begin with
I think it depends, whether or not you need trackouts. You may not need them if you are rapping, but you probably will if you are singing. If you are looking for a beat to sing to, you might find the perfect beat for the song, but some of the background instrumentation and/or key might affect how you would sing the song. I wouldn't lease from this producer if I couldn't get the track outs, but if I did and push came to shove, I might have the song reproduced and tailored for my needs.
@@eman0828 I am humble enough to admit that I am not in the same conversation as you and the other producers you mentioned. I am working with a budget, and not using the resources available would be really unwise. So, I see nothing wrong with leasing beats. It can really benefit both producers and artists if the terms are good. It is great that you have a way of doing things that works for you.
@@eman0828 I want to add that beat leasing also democratizes the music industry. The barriers to being an artist have been tremendously reduced from just 10 or 20 years ago. The entire landscape has changed. Doing business by the old rules can't work for everyone.
Nahh you need trackouts , it's unprofessional not to provide them.
@@thechemi5083 A.K.A. Stems... and you are exactly right. Everyone needs to understand that while you CAN mix vocals into a 2 Mix... an Engineer/Client needs elements seperated to really sit items in the mix. Listen up to TheChemi. Fact.
Damn, this gave me some great perspective, appreciate it!
Right on point! Nice to hear it from someone other than myself. 💯
Smart move bro 💯 Especially how the game change it's for the best not to.
This helped me a ton man I’m starting a beat store soon just going thru material I want to put up and this made me think way deeper on this subject. Goodlookin out!!
Appreciate the knowledge you're passing. I plan on selling beats in the future but as of right now I'm just trying to work on my craft, i.e learning to play the piano, music theory and learning all of Logic Pro, trying to figure out the best way to sell my work in the meantime and this helps. Thank you.
Great insight on putting all the instrumentals up for streaming. Definitely about to do that. Thanks, Curtiss!
This great advice. I'm glad I got this info after just starting.
Interesting, i started out not selling exclusives for the same reason but now i am considering the opposite. I'm starting to think more about what artists value rather than how much potential i can make. I feel like trackouts are necessary too if artists want to get the best quality mixes on their songs as well, i feel i have to give them that option if i am going to provide the most value. I don't even worry about scammers since when push comes to shove i own my copyrights anyway. I'm also considering going exclusive only, but I am undecided right now. Good video though, definitely something to think about.
Great advice ❤️ always being inspirational 🎶
I was thinking about doing it but this is confirmation. Keep bringing that real shit. you inspiring a lot of people out here
Dope video man thanks for the inspiration
That’s crazy you spoke on this, I made the same decision a while ago for pretty much the same reason. Great info bro! Keep it coming!
THANKS !! I'VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THIS FOR A WHILE.
When Curtiss says “this is why I started doin or stopped doing such and such” you better listen! My experience is he’s usually right💯
I think it depends where you are on your journey, I love to hear his advices but some of his moves may not work the same for another producer
Be careful...... Mr.King is a PROFESSIONAL PRODUCER....Some of you are NOVICE BEAT MAKERS......There is a difference. He's telling you what works for him moving forward after he's made THOUSANDS of dollars, Done contracts, aquired placements in the industry.I dont advise beginners or intermediate beatmakers to use this way of thinking initially....YOU NEED TO MAKE A NAME FOR YOURSELF....This way of thinking makes alot of sence HOWEVER its not the Norm as of yet for most producers so when you say to an artist..Hey..NO EXCLUSIVES..NO TRACKOUTS.....If you dont have clientele...Youre gonna have problems with your sales... @curtisking .....Not to mention alot of you dont have your business together anyway as far as Samples..split sheets..metadata...blah blah blah...So..go back and wat h videos from Curtis a few years back when he schools you on business
6Ft Beats obviously, that goes for everything in life and you have to take what you hear with a grain of salt. All I’m saying is I’ve followed him for a long time now and I value his opinion and advice.
GENERAL VEGA I agree, and I feel like he made it very clear in the video that this what works for HIM and it’s not necessarily what everyone should do.
So you don't think this is a good idea for producers that are just starting out?
What a great advice for life in general. Thank you King
Quality information right here. Appreciate you.
Very smart...I understand and respect your perspective and choices
Totally agree with you on both exclusives and track outs. Glad you made this video.
Always providing Great information💯
Phenomenal information Bro. Curtiss!!
You always come through bro. I JUST changed up my website and then you post this. That is a confirmation.
appreciate you big man, you helped us start our beats channel
Love from the Philippines Curtis King. Been watching your videos especially the most recent ones...they make sense
bless you brotha for sharing your wisdom
thanks for the vids bro. ive watched ive listened and now i hit the bell this time.. keep up the good work.
Appreciate this video man, always informative 🙏🏾
Good lookin-out Curtiss! You just put me up on real game with this video. That analogy of beats being like real estate properties really clarified everything. The "chop shop" theory for those track-outs too! I'm heading over to my content ID partners' site now to add way more beats. Thanks homie...God bless & be well!!!
YASSSS that book is one of the must reads for a life time! I respect your perspective and hustle 💯
Thank you for this, i needed this video
Glad I found this video homie! Really helpful! Been debating weather or not to sell exclusives! Sticking to leases and splits!
This is good info. Thanks for the knowledge
Wow! A lot said in this video! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the knowledge 🎹🎶🎵🎼🎧
Word bro.. Thanks for the info
Learned a lot in this video appreciate you sharing your knowledge 🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
So much information 🙏🏽 thanks
Thanks for this one
Much love bro good video.
LOVE THE VISUALS. LOVE YOUR GENUINE PASSION TO HELP OTHERS. I TRULY BELIEVE IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO START MAKING MUSIC FOR VIDEO GAMES AND FILM AS YOU ARE A TRUE COMPOSER OF ALL THINGS.
Thanks for this brother 🙌🏽
Yo thanks for this vid bro, i just recently started selling my beats on my website and these tips are much appreciated
I'm not a producer but I had to watch this video. Love to see your growth as a businessman. Being able to analyze what you're doing, identify and make counterintuitive moves like this is huge.
That last line though Curtiss!! PREACH!! I salute
Great content. Made a lot of sense
great video and information
Men u on fire with the knowledge keep it coming 💪🌊
I feel the exact same way and have caught ALOT of criticism behind this. Glad to know that there are producers who feel the same as myself
Made me think, great video
Man because of your videos. It made me change how I do everything completely. Just recently I just produced a song overseas with a UK artist and it’s amazed me how far I’ve come personally as a producer. Went from making beats just on a beat machine and thinking that was enough to now about to do several deals with many artists. Thank you! For real!!
You the man bruh!! making adjustments for the long hall
If you dont sell trackouts, how do you expect for the artist to get their song mixed and mastered?
If the beat is already professionally mixed and mastered all they have to do is have their vocals mixed and mastered into the beat
@@Ryanthemusician it doesn't work that way in the mixing process it may be a certain instruments the artist want to mute or chop
@@evolmavros4906 If they want something taken out the price goes up.
So, so, so much more to learn. Thank you
I needed to see this sooner bro!
literally sending a trackout right now.. thanks c king
This makes so much sense!!! ✊🏼
Well said now I can start moving forward, with my s..t it's been a slow process, still 9 to 5in it but I've learned so much and I appreciate ya homes.
Dope info man
Perfect info at the perfect time. Good lookin out!
Definitely some food for thought. Not 100% sure how I feel on this yet but you got my thoughts stirring
Great video. Blessings
Leasing gives you more freedom and control over your catalogue. I learned that early on. I’ve had some of my most fire beats be held hostage just because someone was willing to pay me $500 for it. I missed opportunities to send those beats off to higher profile artists and I missed opportunities to lease it and make residual income. Gotta look at the grand scheme of things.
These “Producers” aren’t “producers” they are more like beatmakers who don’t know how to make songs and that’s why people purchase the TRACK STEMS .. Metro Boomin made thousands of beats for FREE during his come up he preferred to have his name and beats get exposure by the public over momentary monetization, look at him now!!.. producers should honestly just find artists to work with ..
As an artist non exclusive beats doesn't give me the freedom to get placements or licensing. It's all about the money versus working artist... or making Hits.
Not agree most artists fail so you got to come UP by yourself as a producers by charging everything :
- track out
- exclusivity
- remakes
I’m glad you said that. I never understood the logic behind trackout leases.
You are a smart guy as an artist i learn alot from you thanks for sharing
Good point, it’s a marathon not a sprint.
I love your content man!!
Interesting thoughts to think about
Good game bro i didn't think of it dat way preciate the eye opener
Love yo intro bro.
Very insightful
Makes a ton of sense bro...by the way I just subscribed 👑👑
thank you 🙏🌞🌴
Amazing videos and points glad I saw this. Was gonna ask what content ID was then I checked the UA-cam video on it. Are there other systems or companies that do that as well? Like if someone put it on a different platform you could be covered?
The track out angle I never considered. Very good point. It's time for me to re think this. Traditional stems where you blend multiple tracks into one might be a nice middle ground. but even then. Thanks for info!
When the books pop up at 3:50 you know I’m screen shotting that lol. Thanks Curtiss always keeping my mind right and progressing
Great video, learned a lot - I noticed you sell trackouts now again, I was wondering what made you change your mind since this video? Thanks 👍
Thank you! I have been looking at how much to sell exclusive beats. But they're coming off now!
Real Estate mindset! GOOD video brother.
You nailed it brother! 💯% Agree
Preach it Curtiss!!! I am with you 100% i think what you said on this is true!
Lots of valid points in this video. Makes me examine what the heck I've been doing for the last 5 years. My question here is how does one benefit from the content ID system if their channel is no yet monitored?
Well said!
I love how you handled your business fam.. Turned a negative into a positive 💯🔥
Hi man! Really appreciate your work! My English is bad to totally understand content in video. Can I ask you explain in 2 words: what you advice about get income from tracks and beat producing today?
Hey Curtis , first...You are the man.. great content.. second In regards of leasing beats, what's your thought on having one having their beats on more than one beat site/ store.
Trackout thing analogous to chop shop is pretty much true I think but exclusive beats are needed by Rappers who want to make an unique project. Going by your explanation, leasing will definitely fetch more money in the long run.
Btw really appreciate the way you said.. Every real estate thing.. To 'beats'
I feel you 💯
Haven’t started selling beats yet, but now when I start I’m convinced on not selling exclusives or track outs. Thank you
Good stuff .You are a wise man .
