Another fun fact: One of the major reasons these games got made was an employee at Capcom that was a huge Marvel fan. He was always pitching ideas and telling people how great Marvel comics were. When Marvel came in to talk for game licensing, he wouldn't stop talking about how much he loved Marvel, and that really impressed the representatives. They never knew his name, they only called him the "Marvel zombie". He had even went so far to have "Marvel fan" printed on his business card. Later on, when Capcom was asking what characters they could have permission to use for "Marvel Super Heroes", he asked for Shuma-Gorath. A cut that was so deep the Marvel reps didn't even know who he was talking about at first. After a bit they were like "Wait, that Dr. Strange villain? The green squid with one eye? Yeah, sure."
I'm definitely gonna buy the "gonna take you for a ride" collection, but I'm most excited for the "this battle is about to explode" collection next year. 💪
Why these collections are essential goes just beyond the scope of having them all collected together to relive them - these collections are essential to the importance of PRESERVATION. We need reminders of classic gaming for generations to come. These are games that deserve their place in history and should be played by everyone…especially on OLED Handhelds *cough PSP 2 cough*. Play these games! #PlayForever
VIc and EPN Team thank you so much for everything ya'll do and cover for the community. A true OG of gaming journalism! But when are we gonna get a Reviews on the Run re-launch? I thoroughly enjoyed the back and forth between Vic and Tommy/Fubar/The Rest of the Squad. Reminds me of First Take or other sportshow debates. I think it'd be great if EPN collaborated with the likes of Metal Jesus or Videogame Dunkey for the debate. Or prefferably bring back ole Tommy boy! #bringbackreviewsontherunplease
I remember EP from way back when. I've been subscribed for a minute but haven't watched much videos. then I saw you at Kit & Krysta's podcast. Then I searched the Marvel collection for reviews and came across this video. I gotta say, I enjoy your format and insight. Thank you for continuing what you do. ❤
Yoooooo wait a minute Victor as in the guy who used to host Judgment Day with Tommy T on G4 TV?????? Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow I think last time I seen him doing a video game review it was for a brand new GameCube game. Shoot I think Marvel vs Capcom 2 was still new as far as the Xbox version.
EXCELSIOR, VICTOR! I can’t wait to play the MvC Fighting Collection. I grew up playing all of the MvC games and they are a treat. I still have MvC Clash of the Heroes and Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter. Anyone that never play the games are in for a treat.🎙️🤓👊🏾💙
been a big fan of these since the early days some of the playstation and saturn versions! so seeing all of these compiled into one game, I'm extremely excited to revisit some of these classic games! MVC1 was probably my favorite 2D fighter ever on the dreamcast! also gotta shoutout the #FREEMVC2 fans they finally get their wish of MVC2 on modern systems, been trying to wrap my head around the mechanics on that one, but its a lot! can't wait for the collection to drop this week I'll be tearing into it over on Switch ASAP!!

His name is Norimaro, a caricature of the Japanese comedian and actor Noritake Kinashi. He's the only guest fighter of the series that aren't from either Marvel or Capcom much like Gon in the PSX version of Tekken 3. Norimaro's translated attacks and bubble phrases were translated in English but due to Capcom USA not getting permission from Kinashi to use him in that version, he was dummied out by a simple flag and can be playable in that version through hacking the ROM.
So happy these games are finally being re-released. Buying the physical copies today is way too expensive. On another note, it’s a pleasant surprise to see Punisher being released. I remember playing that entire game in an arcade with my dad when I was a kid. I must’ve spent about $20 on quarters, but we got it done. 😅
I’m still bummed that Capcom went with polygonal backgrounds in MvC2. Their sprite work was top notch so it would have been amazing to see that work carried forward to MvC2.
To harness Sega Naomi's power but they have to cut down the animations for certain characters due to all 55 characters fit into one PCB, this was way before arcades changed to console (Namco System 256 and 357) or PC-based (Taito Type X and Namco System ES3).
Fun story about these games: Like 2 weeks before X-men was due to ship, Marvel rejected all of Capcom's voice choices for the cast. Capcom went with a bunch of Japanese actors that knew English. Marvel rejected every single one except for Silver Samurai. In a moment of brilliance, the director asked "Who voices the cartoon? Can we use them?". One phone call later, it was $5,000 and a plane ticket to book the cast for recording sessions in Canada, and the rest is history.
Off-topic: Most of the animations for the CoTA characters got gutted down in MvC2 due to Sega Naomi's hardware not handling more sprite data for certain characters. That's why Sentinel's assembling intro and the spinning leg attack got removed and "added" Bonerine instead of random hidden characters like Anita and Norimaro. Same goes for CPS2 games where Capcom tried to bring back many characters from CoTA to MSHvSF but these characters were reduced to Assist Characters.
When Vic reviews a games he gives it to you straight. He doesn't waste our time with switch 2 videos. I'm talking to you Switch force. He gives his honest opinion
Getting this and Capcom fighting collection 2 is gonna make me flatline! Its one thinh to have gotten 2 or 3 of these classics. But basically the whole series is unreal im speechless. 😢
1 thing needs to be fixed. The games demonstrate juddering when playing. It is especially noticeable when there are long straight scrolls of the camera from a vertical or horizontal sides ( ie: Xmen vs SF letters intro as well as when fast forwarding during in mid round wins). Playing Switch version.
This collection is an absolute dream come true! Holding out for the physical, just unsure if I’ll go ps4 or switch. Heck, maybe I’ll just get both 🤷🏻♂️

If they made it like that with good stages then it would be an awesome game and it would sell out they would make millions from making a game everyone wants instead of that crap they been giving us.
Hate to be that guy, Vic, but you mean PS4, right? There is no native PS5 version, even though it's BC on there, same for the later Xbox One verson to XS. Might need to clarify that.
It is weird that there aren’t native PS5/XS ports but these are classic games uprezzed so I think the PS4/XBO versions are fine. The PlayStation 4 version ran beautifully on my PS5.
