Or like most games for the past 20+ years with online capabilities, can remove your ability to play online if they see fit(gamers can't read and never look that the words on the game cases!
I actually wouldn't count on it this time. Capcom losing the Marvel license was largely due to a very short-lived push within Disney to bring all their IPs in-house and develop their own first-party games using the properties they owned, which lasted like only a couple years since it was relegated to just Disney Infinity. Disney now is all in on just being a licensing house where gaming is concerned and considering they also restructured Lucasfilm's games division to get out of the EA agreement, their entire mentality has definitely shifted compared to a decade ago
I also got my copy today for PS4. I still love physical media, the disc version of games! I have plenty of great PS2 and PS3 games on my shelf that I love, that I collected in the past 20 years. And some of those are not available digitally, and I think they're never going to be.
The funny thing about the MvC comic is that it's the same size as Gerald's Journal for Sonic X Shadow Generations and yet it's still much more legible.
Funny story. Luckily, importing is always an option. I initially dropped a preorder for the US release with the intent of switching over to the EU one once it went up, but eventually decided to just keep my US copy once the code-in-box news dropped.
This was likely a Europe manufacturers decision given that this is only done in Europe lol if it was Capcoms decision than why did they only choose Europe to have no switch cartridge? We know this isn't a Nintendo decision given they like their hardware enough to always make physical! Maybe this is a Capcom decision but it being only for Europe makes me believe this is more europes agreement for Capcom than the other way around!

My wife and intentionally refused to buy the game digitally. We waited this whole time to buy both the PS4 and Switch versions in one trip. We’re both having a great time with this collection.

I _really_ hope that we get an actual Marvel vs Capcom 4. But until then we have Capcom Fighting Collection 2 to look forward to.
It'll be awesome to travel back in time, and show off the Switch and the small cartridge , and compare it in the middle of a arcade packed full of people playing on standalone arcade cabinets, even though I got the switch and PS4 physicals, I'm still keeping my Sega Saturn versions and my Dreamcast versions.

I dounle dipped on the Switch version, buying it digitally at launch and 2 days ago havung bought a physical copy. I am not opening it and just keeping it sealed. I am considering buying another copy just to open and play it on my Switch I keep at home and the digitally on my Switch lite, so i dont have to constantly change my primary Switch status between the two (Switch owners with multiple Switches know what i am talking about). While its awesome its in multiple consoles; the fact that the comic is the same size on the PS4; shows that the Switch was prioritized and in all honesty; probably the REAL reason this collection exists in the first place.
I was able to grab the Switch version. Very glad these games are back out for folks to play. I am always in favor of re-releasing collections of classic games.
I still want to see him rate all the character endings from each game in the collection and maybe MVC3 and MVCI, I’m sure we can all agree that would be a fun video.
I just watch these videos to keep myself updated on if Switch cartridges still taste bad. I'm glad you provide this service for us, Max. Otherwise we would have to test them ourselves!
One thing that surprised me about the comic is that it tells a complete story. I thought it would just be setup for the supposed "story" of the game similar to the comic on UMVC3 that came out with the physical rerelease but no it tells a whole story in that tiny comic. Sure its nothing spectacular its just a fun little crossover story but it definitely a nice surprise.
Got it and it's really nice having a version that runs properly and isn't cut down, considering I grew up with the PS1 port of MvC 1 and the PS2 port of MvC 2. The comics really nice, too, though I hope we get a comic book adaptation of MvC 2 so they can expand on the stuff in the game.
11:14 I actually liked it personally when I saw the cover my eyes instantly locked onto the Marvel roster as I was much more aware of them them Capcom at the time when I was younger, vanilla mvc3 on the 360 though man what a gem. Glad we have all of the MVC franchise available on digital now.
Y'all should buy the Asian version too, the Asian version had a really cool back cover that doesn't had too many white area compare to the North American version.
Mind finally came in, the comedically small comic I wish were bigger is actually really fun, and it has a beginning and the middle this time around. Welcome back marvel
I just bought it physically on Switch, and I’m going to eventually be buying it digitally on Switch, and digitally as well on everything else. The comic is a great addition, but yeah, it is crazy small in scale. Honestly, they should make a high resolution version of it, and include it as a digital art book in the collection’s in-game menu. Plus, it would give digital owners a way of getting the comic in some form. If not, I see someone scanning the physical comic itself in high resolution PDF format, and people would have it in a higher scale that way.
I'm happy we can get these games without scalpers coming in and charging us an arm and a leg just to play MvC. Now we have a way to play them all on modern console....minus vanilla MvC3.
I sixtouple dipped. I've bought 2 physicals for Switch, 2 physicals for PS4, and bought the digital version for both Switch and PS4. I've done the same thing with the Darkstalkers collection too. Glad I did. I almost predict that Capcom will revisit the Street Fighter series by re-releasing SF as a "Street Fighter Capcom Fighting Collection Arcade Classics" with all new features that share with these previous collections. Give it a year.... maybe 2.
Switch version in my opinion is the better version to get since the game is actually on the cart unlike the ps4 version which is just an install disc. It’s not actually playing off the disc. I got both but idk why capcom made the comic book the same size as the switch version on ps4 🤔.
I double dipped. I bought the physical version so they can't take it away. And I bought the digital version cuz i couldn't wait for the physical release. Pretty sure most people double dipped too. They could've made the comic bigger and put it in the inside left of the case.
Why does the PS3 digital download version of MvC2 look best? The resolution is much better and it is FULL WIDE SCREEN. It feels like a true HD remaster. You can still find people regularly to play online too.
I understand that you get the bonus comic book if you ordered before the game is out, so can anyone please explain to me how is it possible that in the stores they are selling with the preorder bonus? I thought the bonus of the comic was supposed to be for those who ordered way before, so I really do not understand how do stores have the comic book included MVC video games versions being sold in stores? Anyone knows or has any ideas how this happens? Thanks.
Got mine two days ago and it's been a blast! Kind of sad I don't get to earn points to unlock the MvC2 characters, but I get trophies this time and I can always start a new Dreamcast or PS2 save :P Looking forward to trying out Punisher too since I never played it in the arcade. Feels so weird on Xmen vs Street Fighter and MSH vs SF to have actual tagging and no load times after only having the PS1 versions for 20+ years XD

4:52 Bri'ish Max is something I never thought I'd hear
Little baby comic
When I feel down, I always like to watch Max MVC Collection reaction :)
It's a shame he didn't have a version of UMvC3 he was willing to open here. I have mine and I like showing off its reversible cover.
I bought the ps4 and the switch versions to support the cause! Cant wait to pre order capcom fighting collection volume 2!
I will be getting volume 2 as well when that comes out!!!
Anyone else hunting for the MVC comic variants on the 2nd?
I understand that you get the bonus comic book if you ordered before the game is out, so can anyone please explain to me how is it possible that in the stores they are selling with the preorder bonus? I thought the bonus of the comic was supposed to be for those who ordered way before, so I really do not understand how do stores have the comic book included MVC video games versions being sold in stores? Anyone knows or has any ideas how this happens? Thanks.
"ooh they don't taste good"
No shit max, it's a videogame cartridge
Got mine two days ago and it's been a blast! Kind of sad I don't get to earn points to unlock the MvC2 characters, but I get trophies this time and I can always start a new Dreamcast or PS2 save :P Looking forward to trying out Punisher too since I never played it in the arcade. Feels so weird on Xmen vs Street Fighter and MSH vs SF to have actual tagging and no load times after only having the PS1 versions for 20+ years XD
Got digital day one, physical came in and I gave it to my wife. She’s begun enjoying fighting games over the last 4 months. We take turns on mvc2 and it’s a blast.
I waited for physical, physical games for the win !!!
