Personally, I cannot believe that anyone could find anything negative or critical to say about what you have just created. So impressive that you work with such ease, efficiency and still end up with a beautiful instrument most people couldn't dream of and then adding in the great riffs at the end. I am humbled and very impressed!! Cheers
Absolutely awesome! You don't need those high tech tools to build a stunning guitar. This is handicraft at it's best. The guitar sounds as it looks: just beautiful!
Gabriele, thank you so much for posting your guitar build videos, when Iwas in high school like a hundred years ago I attempted to make a electric...didnt go to good..50 years later you actually are giving the idea to build my first guitar.
I'm absolutely fascinated with your guitar builds. I was awful at woodwork at school. I made a money box that you could reach back into the slot and take the money back out with your fist clenched 😂. I envy your gift.
Very inspiring Gabi! I like the jig you made at 0:17. It is the best method I’ve seen to join the top and back plates without performing a complicated setup!
Everybody’s comments say it all , I’m grateful you’ve shared your work , and process with the world. You definitely, ( obviously) , are gifted. I would give my left foot to have your abilities. I think so much flattery become cheesy, but I think all , or mostly all , of thee comments complimenting you are all earned , and well deserved. Just overall Tremendous video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for your inspirational videos Gabriele. I've watched and studied 100's of videos on guitar building, and the majority are built in hugely equipped expensive workshops, yet you manage to build superb guitars with mostly homemade jigs and limited amount of specialised luthier tools. I love your method for bending the sides with steam box and former. I have built a few solid bodied electric guitars in the past, but have not had the confidence to take on an acoustic build. As a recently retired carpenter, i have many woodworking skills and tools, so you have inspired me to start my first acoustic build. ordered my tone woods today, and intend to start making jigs and steam box tomorrow. I'm sure I will be following your videos at each stage of my build. Keep up the great work and please keep posting videos.
Hello there, if you have some woodworking skills, as you do, there shouldn't be anything keeping you from getting started. If you have questions and think I might be able to answer them, you can contact me on Instagram and we can chat. Good luck with your endeavour.
I have been binge watching your channel now for a couple of days and I can say that your channel is criminally underrated! Absolutely loving the builds and the covers you publish.
You are a god. Absolutely incredible. I will watch this over and over. Your patience and industriousness shaped a thing of beauty and wonder. I am in awe of what you have done and who you are. Simply amazing.
Fabulous! How your clothes stay relatively clean is amazing too. Everything I wear in the shop ends up stays in the shop unless I wear overalls on top.
Ms. Reti, thank you for your time and videos. I am a new aspiring Luthier and I find some of your methods different and educational they have helped me. All the best to you.
With all due respect I have to say I was no fan of your neck to body joint but I have since come around. One could argue its better than mortise and tenon due to the tight wood on wood contact, more surface area to transmit sound throughout. M&T might even be 'overkill' so to speak. That joint with a light coat of hide glue and tight bolts isnt ever going to move. I may try it on my next build. Thank you.
Fabelhaft! In February I'm starting my own small guitar workshop in Brittany, France. It's planned to be the start of building my own guitars after years of restoring old guitars. The idea is to make it manual as much as possible and replace electric tools by mechanic tools wherever I can but only where it makes sense. So I've been watching a lot of guitar building videos and yours is one of the best. Beautiful work, beautiful guitar and great sound! I like the design features a lot and it's great to see you're not cutting corners but make the instrument as best as possible and as beautiful as possible. A great inspiration for me! Thanks for sharing this wonderful video.
Good luck with your business Alice. Keep us updated. Maybe some videos to share? You might consider a UA-cam channel promoting your work. I'd be intersted to watch you work.
It's amazing to see what someone can do with tools that can be easily purchased affordably at chain hardware stores, although the skills needed to compensate for the lack of state of the art machines can't exactly be bought.
The result is lovely and obviously the product of hard work and experience. That said, as a woodworker with no experience in guitar making, is there a reason for all the times you seem to do finishing while there's still other work to do? Like when you're doing the inlay, you do the olives, then sand it down, then you do the leaves, and sand down again. Or on the head, you do polishing and oiling before drilling for the tuning knobs.
If I don't sand the inlays down in between, the router doesn't run over the surface smoothly and I couldn't do the other inlays. I always have them a bit proud of the surface. For the headstock, sometimes I drill the holes first, sometimes after the oiling. Depends on when I make the decision what tuners go on. Also, clearing oil runs from inside the holes is not easily done but you want clean holes for the tuners to go in nicely. Oh, and they're plums, not olives, since it's a plum wood guitar. ;-)
Never stumbled upon your channel before, but gladly I'm here now. And you know I never saw any videos before but a person owning all those "Lustige Taschenbücher" simply has to be subscribed :) greeting from another German.
An instructive video that shows skill ,ingenuity and craftsmanship on a achievable level. Bravo. Thank you for your generous information and education. I will bypass guitar kits and purchase real woods and create uniqueness in whatever transpires. Love the collection of DVDs on display, not everyone requires a AAA+ workshop to create art.Thankyou...for being you and freely providing guidance. PS guitto ggp-02 any ggp-05 are a interesting, if dodgy, found success at low volumes. Thank you again, your tip are an inspiration to me.
Wow. It sounds better than it looks. Great work Gabriele. Saw you do a restoration on a grandpops guitar but this was unbelievable in tone- probably due to the woods used. Nice playing with Brian May also. Cheers , Terry from Oz.

Genial!
I would love if you gave a little monologue with the build process. I'm curious how you set the neck angle and why you choose the processes that you use. Fascinating.
Hey Tom, maybe there will be a voiceover with the next one... You're right I forgot the footage of how I cut the neck angle on the table saw. You can see that in my video for The GGBO 2021: ua-cam.com/video/sr0eHI2ajRE/v-deo.html You can see fine-sanding the neck and body to fit at 19:50. I hope this helps. Cheers, Gabi
Very good video. I am starting my build this weekend and it is a 12 string. I hope it turns out as good as yours. Nice harmonics in both the wood selection and tone.
I like the way you put the frets on...measure and position fret first...then cut to correct width. Simple. I never understood the waste of fret wire and the unnecessary extra clipping and cutting. Plus if you forget to clear away even one of those little sharp clippings it can wreak havoc on the wood. Oh and are they cherries or olives on the branch? Beautiful!.
Personally, I cannot believe that anyone could find anything negative or critical to say about what you have just created. So impressive that you work with such ease, efficiency and still end up with a beautiful instrument most people couldn't dream of and then adding in the great riffs at the end. What a beautiful and unique guitar ❤
Great balance of tone. ... From another luthier
