Even as a well versed spy main I found myself extremely engaged with this guide. This is probably the best guide I've ever watched. Super underrated stuff
Great guide. A tip that improved my spy gameplay is to not look at the enemy directly, always use peripheral vision. Whenever people turn back to spycheck, the most suspicious ones are those staring directly at them, holding W key.
I feel like it would've been very beneficial for the video to mention the fact that Spy's role is to support his team, to pick high value targets, and impede the enemy team, rather than be effective offensively. I get that the video does talk about that, but stating it outright at the start of the video would've been a nice touch. :)
I love how this tutorial is basic, serious advice and simple to understand. I cannot stand like 95% of TF2 tutorials because they try too hard to be funny and are sweaty for the memes.
I appreciate it! That was my whole goal. Not to make a super flashy guide but to make it simple enough for everyone to understand while showing examples of what im talking about.
I am new to tf2 as of the ban wave and scout and spy are my favorite. This is a super helpful vid for me as i suck at spy from sheer lack of knowledge. I played like 3hrs of spy without knowing about bumping Edit: what concerns me is whether or not enemies can hear me communicate with my team
iirc if you're on an all-talk community server, the enemy will be able to see your voicechat blurb above your head you'd be ok on casual cause there's no all-talk there
Solid advice! I find that it's best to get the hang of 'simple' tips that are mentioned in the video before trying to go for flashy clips. It's great to see such information put together in an easy to follow manner. Great job!
Another upside for the YER (Your Eternal Reward) is that the silent killer also makes your victims bodies dissapear and there to be no backstab scream. While the noise is still present, often times people will be looking for the scream.
How is this so high quality? The explanatioms, the examples, the learning. Oh! It's just so perfect! Awesome job there, snigitty! Keep like that, you have a great potential
Just a hidden tip I don't think I saw mentioned here is depending how many players are on your team will dictate how many spies there should be on your team, "just because you can doesn't mean you should" because the more spies there are the more paranoid the enemy gets so aim for a max of 1 or 2. Be considerate of the teams success, true honestly winning does grant any value you really but ensuring good teamwork and consideration usually leads everyone to feeling good by the end of a round. Usually if I see 1 or 2 spies already playing i pick a different class till either on switch or not at all. With spy less really leads to more results. This isn't a golden rule, like you HAVE to do this just a really useful tip overall for better results for you as a spy player or to other spy players
Everyone else: i’m watching this video because I want to get better at spy Me: i’ve been watching TF2 for the past six years of my life but I can’t download it so I’ve just been watching videos of people playing it
Subscribing just because this compilation is so good. I'm surprised I wasn't recommended the earlier parts before. Great stuff man and thanks for all the tips!
I've been playing for thousands of hours now and i still can't get the hang of spy despite being one of my most played classes, but this is really helpful! Thanks..I'll subscribe now
So i usually just hit the "last disguise" button which i have bound to V. But I also use the advanced option for disguising that makes it so you only need to hit 1-3 to disguise as any class. Its in advanced options. So for example to disguise as soldier you bring up the disguise kit and then hit 1, 2 and voila. I dont use any specific binds that arent already in the game though. Once you get used to using the disguise kit this way you can quickly hit 3 keys to disguise as any class you want. Let me know if you need any further help with it
I absolutely love this! One factor though, do you recommend cl_interp if so which one? I don't use it and I hit good trickstabs. But is it better to use it 2. Can I bind specific disguises? If so what do i do? (Like disguise as Pyro without bringing up disguise kit) 3. When do I stop being aggressive while trickstabbing? I know you said I should stay alive but with kunai and dr do you think trickstabs are worth it? To keep going on until I die to make a bigger impact?
1. Personally I think using interp is a crutch as you can perform just as well with the default. But to each his own, you would have to look up which interp to use if you decide to as im not sure. 2. yes, use the bind command in conjunction with the commands listed here: wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Scripting#Disguising but its much easier to just use the concise disguise menu in advanced options. 3. It really depends what you are trying to do. Are you discovered but see a good medic pick? Go for it. Trying to chainstab every life for a montage? Keep going in. But me personally I will get a good few stabs and then cloak, unless there is an enemy I know I cant hide from, then I will go for a trickstab. Sometimes its also just fun to see how many you can get before you die. But if you are playing seriously to win then I recommend always cloaking/using DR when you are found out, then get to safety and go back in.

I got 3 trickstabs in a row. Im was so happy until I realized it was all a dream😔
Wai for real depression when you dream up a perfect aerial

Its much more effective than people think. You pretty much never wanna be looking directly at your target until you stab them.

Whats funny to me is that the thumbnail makes spies hat and clothes longer and longer in each phase

enemies can hear your voicelines, which i talked about, but unless you are on a server that has all-talk enabled they cannot hear your microphone
iirc if you're on an all-talk community server, the enemy will be able to see your voicechat blurb above your head
you'd be ok on casual cause there's no all-talk there
I love spycaping, won several rounds like that at the end
Thanks Sniggity now I do not need to waste 10 seconds of time
Hell yeah lol
3:19 will probably go unnoticed for a lot of people but i think the crouch behind the crate when you cloaked was pretty quick thinking
Solid advice!

should of made the thumbnail a reverse of the evolution chart for humans
thats actually a really funny idea. I might steal that if its ok with you

I would say this for every class honestly. No more than 1 or 2 of each, but yeah especially spy because it just makes the enemies more paranoid
i got a lot more backstabs with this always stay invisible technique, thx a lot

Really good video explains a lot and helps a lot thanks 👍
Very useful thank youuuuu
I think stock best pairs with kunai since it packs a punch
Its not a terrible combo but if you are using stock revolver with kunai you just wanna make sure you have that overheal before shooting
There's this bug when enemies turn around and shoot instead of aiming. Valve pls fix this.
Eughhhh the view model pov look away
What are your binds for disguising w/o pulling up the kit? I bound them on my numpad but they feel kinda clunky to get to them

@@SniggityDiggity can i get the bind command if thats not difficult for you?
@ren1bas900 its not a bind command, as i just stated. Its just an advanced option in tf2. Scroll to the spy disguise option in advanced options
