I decided to dedicate this video to Elaine Shallcross. At 68 years old she started training to land a shove it to raise money for cancer research.

One thing I didn’t understand until I did it myself if that the board doesn’t rotate directly beneath you. It actually moves out in front of you. If you jump straight up and down the board won’t be under you when you land. You have to jump forward (relative to the front of your body, not direction of movement)

I have never watched a skateboarding tutorial that kept me so interested in continuing to watch it. It was also the best explanation on how to do a shove it that I’ve seen!

i’ve been practicing every day for 2 hours for six months, i still cannot shov-it. the board always flies away from me.
You will get it. These first tricks are the hardest so don't get discouraged. Once you understand how these tricks work learning tricks will get much easier.

Try watching yourself in slow mo and see what may be causing the board to fly away. Could be you are doing the motion too hard or not focused where you need to

I learnt it 2 days ago but trying 2 months the trick for me is maintaining the back foot up whne the board is spinning

the foot positioning really helped improve both my shuvits and pop-shuvits and overall have more control and consistency, i need to work on the scoop though, almost did a 3 shuv lol. thank you so much for the tutorial, it made me love shuvits a little more

Skidish Skateboarding I really want to learn tre flips, so a tutorial of those would be cool. Oh, and what tricks should I have down before I try them?
I did it in my first week on accident when I was trying to learn a kick flip. I’m taking it slowly now and this trick is the only one I can really do semi consistently.

Skidish Skateboarding I think your latest video is really going to help me progress too. Not only because watching you fail over and over again told me that I’m not especially bad at skateboarding (I was thinking there was something wrong with me because I keep failing, even in tricks I’ve “learned”) but because of all the insights you shared (like “change something, don’t keep doing it wrong over and over again or you’ll train wrong muscle memory” and “always try to commit to landing on the board even if it’s upside down”)

Fakie shuvit was my first trick. When it comes to backside shuvits I find the pop shuvit easier. I don't have the light touch to do shuvits, I really have to think about it. The front side shuvit has been a battle that I have not won yet.
I think when done right or on a pyramid or obstacle the pop shuvit is a great looking and underrated stylish trick.
