- David Silveria was a major influence of mine during his time with Korn. He truly is an essential element of the Korn style.

David is so underrated. He is one of the best in my opinion.
Yet you watch josh perfectly copying the groove... so no,..he isnt the best
@@user-gu3ie rofl..its so easy to play along for some one else made drum playing than made out of it on your own just like David Silveria had done. Its so unique and you are not clearly a drummer so you cant understand what im talking about
He's not underrated or overrated
And even if he's underrated that's his own fault
Can't be underrated if you never even got a rating and that's unfortunate.. he was one of my faves if not the fave
Nah, he's trash. Ray Luzier is a million times better.

Absolutely NOTHING against Ray, I respect the guy and I'm glad he stepped up when David left, but goddamn... I miss David being in KoRn.
me too
He is One of a Kind. A real Artist.
David still playing as proudly and powerfuly as always, just write his name.
Still not the same Groove as Davids ua-cam.com/video/7OgQec4XC3E/v-deo.htmlsi=mnHbCE0zfyPtMhrI
Davids was something natural flowing on his veins. We can all hear it but most all, We can feel It.
Hardcore mixed with Latin shit. David is a pilar of modern music.
Ray Luzier is a hell of a drummer, but those David Silveria grooves have been so influential.
Cameron Fleury I know right!
Notice how the title says “Grooves of David Silveria” Unfortunately GAY LUZIER ain’t got none of that with his GAY eyeliner.
u sir, are fkin idiot.
hOhm Boy
Real men eat dick
ⱵNST JAJAJA if I ever make a gay joke , I’m saying that JAJA
Porno creep is the best interlude ever
I was a teen when I listened to it the first time (and I was learning to play the drums) and it blew my mind!
If David were to come back , I bet they would have a hit records again.
He would have to learn everything Ray can play tho😅
@@tobias7517 yes but just certain songs for every tour.
David could play everything Ray could play, his drums are boring and simple
@@krispyasfk2567 fr and ray plays way too many fills it’s fucking terrible
@@tobias7517and ray playing all drum notes that david wrote. Ray maybe technical but korn has no grove when ray came in. give me one new single of new korn and compare it with the old korn. admit it korn is way better when dave making the beats.
David added so much flavor and groove with his playing! Very underated for what he provided to Korn's sound!
David is a seriously underrated drummer. Very influential. Great video Josh
Goddamn that was good man. I would argue that David Silveria is one of the most influential and effective rock drummers of all time, right up there with Bonzo, Neil Peart, Tommy Lee, Mike Portnoy, Chad Smith and just a few others.
Amazing!!
I miss him. Korn will never be the same without him. David made the difference, he is an out of series. The best in its kind !!
I've always loved David's snare work. I think Ray is a great drummer and technically sound but David had a groove to him that in my opinion gave the first three Korn records a lot more swing. Great video by the way these are tough patterns to get down
Awesome dude! I love how David used ghost notes.
Brohobojoe 00 impossible DC is an alien 👽
I love how David used snare rolls :D
One of the best rock drummers of all time. Totally underrated!
I was also heavily influenced by Silveria. You see lots of debate that mostly goes in favor for Luzier but I try to direct people to the Life is Peachy sessions at Indigo Ranch. I respect both drummers but Silveria's talent is lost on some people.
oh shit that's exactly what l tell everybodyyyy
Ray’s a more “by the book” drummer. Whereas David’s more loose with his playing, he doesn’t use metronomes or any time-keepers. David’s style suited Korn better.
vDosc UV7 oh ok, that make sense that he at least uses at least a simple click track whenever he performs live. But he doesn't use any other time keepers because on live performances he's usually off a bit on the kick drum.
Jeremiah T - "Silvera's talent is lost on some people" ... this mostly true for David himself....the reason he isnt in the band anymore is because HE QUIT.... Have you heard him play lately?? No Thanks, I'm cool with Ray
@@davidd972 David was sorta like Lars in a sense that he wasn't the tightest drummer but the creativity was phenomenal. I incorporated so many licks from David into my playing it helped me be a more versatile drummer.
David's style is so unique and perfect, and you just nailed it!!!
I like how you change snare drums depending on what album the song is from :) The only reason why I bought a piccolo snare was because of David and John Otto. I love the sound.
me too lol
Same here man , I love that sound with a bit of a ring
I love St.Anger because of it too. It has that nu metal "bit of a ring" haha.
@@onlyslavesareequal2790 I agree. It sounds raw and nasty.
I made the drummers in both my bands buy piccolos for the same reasons. Only one used his but he was a fan of David so didnt take much convincing. Korn definitely would not have been as big as they got without those grooves. It literally defined their sound, each original member brought the 5 unique elements that made them so good.
The Grooves of Abe Cunningham from Deftones
Мистер розовый yesssss!!! That would be greattt!!
Please do this!
THIS!!!!
Massively underappreciated drummer!
YES
David Silveria and Joey Jordison are two of a kind; both very amazing boundary pushing creative drummers that were driven out of their respective bands because of politics and replaced by adequate but half hearted copies.
No one can groove like David. Period.
Life is Peachy album has the best Grooves by Silveria.
One hell of a great drummer indeed, well done Josh!
Kaosware thanks
Korn was never the same after David left
Norman Bates ikr it's better! Ray is mor exciting live and his grooves are better in my opinion but everyone is entitled to there own opinion :)
Edit: I still respect and love David as a drummer btw I'm not hating on him
Norman Bates yeah I totally agree David was by far the best years of Korn... that new guy is a very talented drummer but I can't listen to it for some reason
JLVPlays I do like Ray but David was one of the main reasons Korn's sound was so different and fresh in 94, I hand on heart believe they would have never been as famous if it wasn't for David's Drumming approach...The stars where aligned when they formed Korn, a true one in a million chance of all the right musicians at the right time...
Sir Babz I grew up on the original Korn album's. I remember buying the first album in 94 I was 12. People at my school thought I was mental for liking Korn but I relate to the music so much. It's so nostalgic for me the David album's are by far my favorite but I still listen to all the new stuff. Did you ever see them live ?
Norman Bates See them live twice both with Ray. I sadly was never of a fan of korn back when David was around so the only way I judge these things is by watching videos of him live and listening to old korn tracks. Sorry if I have annoyed anyone :/
I like how when he does a drag he damn near drops the stick, his playing is sooooo relaxed
I feel so fortunate I got to see Korn on their last Family Values tour. David left the band just a few years after. His influence and ability reaches far into rock music. A legend.
same here! saw them in Atlanta... with Deftones! Chino even came out to sing "Wicked" !
I caught one of David’s sticks that he threw after the show. Best show ever.
One of my fav drummers
Wouldn’t say that David was under rated but VERY under appreciated. He didn’t need solos be this beats were so damn captivating.
David is a pretty good drummer. I'm glad you did a video about his grooves!
Goldsmith work !! Thank you !!
One of the drummer who influence all my drumming thank you David
Very interesting seeing him do those grooves that I always loved
that snare sound is so wicked. that early korn snare is one of my favorite snare sounds ever
which one? he used 3 different ones here. piccolo steel, 14x6.5 brass and 14x5 brass. for me the three are amazing.
I could watch this ALL DAY!! 🔥🔥🔥
David given more life in KoRN with his style
THANK YOU for playing Mr. Rogers. I feel that song is so under rated!
Am I the only one who was able to sing every song as he played? 🤔
I even played the guitar & bass in my head as I sang.
Just because you always put out great videos I will forgive you for not doing Ball Tongue!! I always have fun jamming to that one, CHI on the other hand was spot on as well as the rest of the grooves. Nothing against Luzier, he’s a great drummer and what he does for Korn is just amazing, but Silveria will always be my favorite drummer in Korn. His drumming on those first three albums were my favorite. His heavy funky style and sound just pierced your ears, and that’s what the magic of Korn was back then and that’s how they were put on the map.
Edo Sala had done "Ball Tongue".
С ним группа звучала просто магически, спасибо ему за первые альбомы. Жаль что его эпоха в Корн закончилась.
I caught one of Silveria’s sticks after a concert. It is a much cherished part of my beats room decor.
Thank You very much for this!!!
Incredible these rhythms and your performance. Great job.
Diggin that snare man.
Rigo Castillo Too much rebound
Rebound? hahaha!
I can hear abit of St.Anger sound
I like the pitch, but it doesn't seem to have enough body/punch for my taste. To each his own though!
Kunal Mukherjee Is that what’s making it sound like rimshots?
Josh Steffan, take us to the Matthews bridge!
James Bos you said that because of the limp bizkit song right?
why not, john otto had some pretty decent grooves!
thebenchdweller yeah, jonh otto is a beast
Yeah he sounds more like John of limp biscuit than anything that not sounded like Dave groove at all
When I read this comment, I heard it in Fred Durst’s voice. 😯
Nice job! Sounds good! David is my fav drummer
When you just hear the drum parts alone it really gives a better appreciation to how creative ans good he was on the early records.
David..fue muy auténtico en lo que creaba ....genial video.....
Badass david is definatly one of my favorite drummers people dont realize not only how technical he was but an absolutly amazing song writer! Good job bro! I could tell porno creep was tough, one hand drum rollin, crazy!
Definitely one of the best and unique drummers. His style is irreplaceable
Intensely wicked. Damn dude!!
Wow, such amazings drummers... I'd also love to see more SOAD or a "The Grooves of John Dolmayan". I love your work, Josh! Keep it up!
do the grooves of Igor Cavalera please
Gabriel Peron yes!!!!! Specifically Chaos ad, but he already did medley of that...😢😢😢😢
Beneath the Remains and Arise are his best grooves
He dosent have grooves...that dude destroys the drums!!!
I love the sound of that snare
which one? he used 3 different ones here. piccolo steel, 14x6.5 brass and 14x5 brass. for me the three are amazing.
I am so glad I was a teenager when that first Korn album dropped and I was able to experience the first three albums when they were currently being released.
Those first three records are timeless
Awesome, man! Please, make The Grooves of John Otto!
Josh at least do Stalemate cover
Spot on as always 👍
That verse section of Chi and the fill going into the chorus has always been one of my favorite creations of his. I saw them twice on that tour, they were so in their prime, right before the big fame hit hard.
In my mind, I play like this guy..Always awesome to watch!!
Josh this, as always, was Sic! David's style of drumming is truly 1 of a kind, not to mention extremely impressive n very unique! You, my Brother, managed to perfect it! #MadRespect D.S I'm sure would say the same! #YouDaMan 🤘
Good job, you should do the grooves of Abe Cunningham from Deftones.
Stephen Stone
Best groove ever
Deftones are overrated
Picax8398 i used to think that, then i figured out that they are actually really underrated
@@picax8398 deftones is the best band on this planet!
Yes!
Man this is so perfect, I've been the biggest Korn fan for the last 20 years, and all of this is 100% perfect. Holy trousers.
Love how you play too !!! Good job
Your kit sounds really nice
Yessss this so good! You gotta do the grooves of Abe Cunningham next ;)
thanks Josh Steffen for really inspiring me to never give up drumming and music
;)
your love for korn keeps me interested brother.. david will always be my fav. i dont even care for ray.
Korn is bland without David’s grooves
Couldn’t agree more.
100% agree. Just another radio play band without David
The grooves of Gene Hoglan from Death please 💕
Thought that said gene hackman
you might wanna check out Aquiles Priester's version of Symbolic
Both David and Josh are amazing!!! Thanks a lot for an entertaining video!
Davidi silveira s the bests drummer forever!!!!🥰🥰🥰
Grooves of Danny Carey would be sick
Owen Davey Agreed!!!
How's that? It's a solid comment.
Nah he has groove. It's all over the Undertow and Aenima albums. Things got more experimental with Lateralus, but 10,000 Days also has some groovy beats. I respect how Tool can play in all these odd meters with polyrhythms and such without sounding like the songs were made just to show off their ability. Dream Theater on the other hand and some Animals as Leaders... mostly wankery. Damn shame too, damn shame. Petrucci, Myung, and Portnoy (old lineup) were all at the top of their game. But it's almost all to show off. I also hate how they try to show off their intellect as well with these concept albums and supposedly deep, philosophical themes. Barf. Rush did that too lyrically most of the time, but their music sounded great even with the odd meters and time changes...most of the time. I think 2112 is embarrassing, but Permanent Waves and especially Moving Pictures (which incidentally is one of the best sounding albums ever. It's one of the albums I use along with Aja by Steely Dan and and RATM self-titled album to test new stereo equipment. Metallica's Black, too) are great. So I'm rambling. Look at the size of that parenthetical aside. Nuff Said. Love you all.
Dang!
Yea good luck trying that lol
Rays a really good drummer but he’s style doesn’t fit the band. Thats why they’ve never been the same once david left.
Feliciano Arzuaga in recent times they’ve stepped it the fuck up
Ray brought something that David would’ve never did with their records with ray. He is a total badass drummer and has more feel than David. My opinion 🤷♂️
I think thats for the guys of Korn to decide. And not you
Thraven my opinion! Not yours 👍🏼
@@maaax2105 Nobody wanted them to be more metal....people wanted them to be more Korn....theres a distinct difference.
Silveria is SO underrated. Amazing work as usual, Josh.
AWESOME DUDE! Cheers from Perù.
Interesting way to do buzz rolls.
NA BOOM NA EDA NAMA
"Boom na da mmm dum na ema" you mean.
Absolutely love it! Thank you@
awesome playing! i really miss him in Korn. Chi is one of my faves. there is a vid on YT where Korn are playing Chi, but you can only hear David. i remember when i first saw that, being in total awe of how busy that song is. i can't imagine playing that as just one of 15-20 songs every damn night while on tour.
Ah, my favorite drummer of all time, David Silveria! Check out his new band, "Bias" for some solid groove drumming.
He left BIAS and has now retired from music
How about John Otto?
10-hours version Need To))))
Love this! You certainly have DS grooves dialed in! 🤘🏻
Please make Joey Jordison
I adore Slipknot Joey, but he had no groove, lol
He just did fast linear fills and blast beats
I think that Joey's best work was on the first Slipknot album. After that he started sounding like a death metal drummer with all of the blast beats. 1st album had more of a groove
Domi Frdl He had a few pretty cool grooves
First album is full of groove
Silveria and Luzier are both great, but Silveria’s style is better and Korn was built on it. imagine early Korn with Luzier’s drumming, definitely wouldn’t be as good.
Facts.
David was the first drummer that i heard ghost notes from as a young kid. I wondered where all that sound was coming from, He made me explore drumming and music in a way i don't think I would have without him and korn
Korn Primus and 311 created that special place in my heart for the snare.
Can’t stop watching this
Grooves of Thomas Haake!
Respect to ray, but for me it can only be david. He just has that full sound I enjoy hearing, even if he's playing alone. I dont enjoy luziers drumming. Maybe I'm just too attached to early korn, but for me there's just no debate.
You’re not alone
Never fails to impress. You are amazing, my man
Needs a part 2
That pinky finger sticking out when your diddling on the snare is giving me anxiety
Gotta watch that pinky homie.
I play same way...
I think some of David's best work is on Life is Peachy - he was fkg on FiRe 🔥 that record.
(Well, they were all on meth, anyway).
Meth?
I don't think silveria was really a druggie. Pretty sure he mainly drank
Fieldy's bass resonating in my head while listening to those beats.
Always loved the way david used this hi hats.
wow Beauty. sadly david cant play like this any more :(
AndyRC ?
Look up core 10
He got it somewhat
anarchisttomato nice trolling...
Chad Sexton-311
Some seriously intricate beats there Josh. You've got that deep bass pedal sound along with the reverberation of the snare.
Awesome dude! Love david
Do the grooves of Dave Lombardo
Ninoslav Klisanin he's got like one though hahahhah
Ninoslav Klisanin Dave isn’t really groovy.
How about “Grooves of The Rev” ?
Kewl Dude YESSS MAN!!
Davide Bonvicini yes he fuckin did
Hell yeah!
No groove. Ur mama groove
Kewl Dude nope. Ur mama pass it to u
Love this, learning a lot quick, don't have to try to listen through the other instrumentals to hear the parts. Much easier to pick up.
Solid!!!👍
oh Josh , well done my boy
