    Great job on the performance! You nailed it on the vocals and the music.
    The song is loosely inspired by the actions of Arthur Bremer, who shot Alabama Governor George Wallace at a May 1972 rally in Maryland. It is often mistakenly construed as being about Lee Harvey Oswald - it is not.

      @@hwyfan thanks. Here’s a quote:
      Gabriel stated in the introduction to the song during his concert at the Paramount Theatre, Seattle in 1983 that the song is "partly taken from the writings of Arthur Bremer and The Diary of an Assassin and mixed with a few images of Dallas twenty years ago".
      In my interpretation, I definitely see the latter visual. Even in the lyric he says “and the governor’s car is not far behind….he’s not the man I’ve got in mind. Cause there he is, the man of the hour standing in a limousine.”
      To me the point was about the hunter, not so much the hunted. And when it comes to something being “burned into our memory cells”, well I couldn’t think of a better example.
