I used to visit my friend at his apartment and we'd duel outside at this little setup he had. There was a druggee who used to watch us duel and he seemed harmless and we didn't mind him because he was kinda funny. My friend's girlfriend sent us to the store to get cigarettes and we were mid duel. Dude was totally whipped so we went to get it out of the way since the store was less than a block away. He told her to watch our cards while we went and when we got back my deck was gone. She said she went inside to get something and didn't even notice it was gone. I was so pissed. My fault entirely for trusting my so called friend and his so called girlfriend. It was 2011 and that was my six samurai deck. I know the druggee guy either stole it or my friend's girlfriend stole it and blamed the druggee. I hope karma catches up to whoever did it.

Glad you got your deck back Paul. Having stuff lost or stolen is never a good experience.
On your tips, for a few of them.
Backpack/Bag: When I have my backpack and I have sat down ready to duel, I always hang my backpack on my leg/knee with one of the straps. Even putting your through one of the straps then hanging is even more secure. With this method I always know both where my bag is/my bag is secured and not going anywhere.
Lost and Found: I've been lucky not to have lost anything Yugioh based, but if I did I would turn in a copy of my deck list of the deck I was using before I lost it. That way you aren't having go off memory of what your deck consisted of. Having an extra copy of your deck list on hand is a great to double check you have everything accounted for, and to better describe at Lost & Found exactly what you lost.
That's just input added in to your tips Paul, and I'm happy your deck is safe and sound 👍

    1. Use a Tile square and a false bottom or top in you deck box.
    2. Use a Fanny Pack or sling bag over a backpack.
    3. Use zipper locks
    4. If you use a backpack place in the floor in front of you place your feet through the straps.
    5. If they are uncomfortable with it being in front you put it under the chair and put at least 1 but preferably 2 of the chair legs through the straps.
    6. Use easily identifiable card sleeves and deck boxes.

I'm glad you got your deck back, bro. And I can totally understand the apprehension when thinking about going to stores and events after an experience like that. Recently I had a card stolen and even though it was just one inexpensive card, I got really bummed because someone who steals a card can steal much more than that. Also, my local store is a place I thought I could feel safe and not having to look over my shoulder all the time like we have to do everywhere.
And lastly, I'm a pretty nice guy when it comes to yugioh (at least I think so). I give away cards, I lend them, I try to help our local community as much as I can. If the guy had asked me for it I'd given the card to him.
At the end of the day these things really bum you out.

Oftentimes when something bad happens you start to think "What can I do to prevent this from happening next time." And that's when you start being super careful with things and come up with lists like this. Another thing is that once you have a negative emotion attached to something, you start to not want to be involved with it, but I personally think that's the worst thing you can do. You shouldn't stop being involved with something you loved because of 1 bad event that occured with it, especially if it wasn't your fault and/or you know how to prevent that from happening next time.

I’m So Glade that you finally got your Deck Back I Imagine those Cards Aren’t Cheap. And only Couple of other Advice that I Could Possibly give is that First Don’t Be Afraid to Use your Low Rarity Cards a Common Blue Eyes Works the Exact same as a High Rare Blue Eyes. And the Second is Don’t Bering All of your Highest Rarity Cards to the Event Leave some at Home, Your Favourites and or The Cards that you Don’t want to Trade would be Preferred, so it Doesn’t get Miss Placed or Stollen.

I am much less scared of losing trade cards over actual decks. I don't leave my backpack in a vehicle (friends car got broken into and collection stolen outside of a bar) or my house. Maybe a little too paranoid there, but who tf knows when something can happen. At first heartbreaking because it was competitive and started building the deck when black wings first came around in 2009. As hurt as I am after the stolen deck I have looked into heroes and can say I actually have a viable and pricey deck at that with the recent evil hero engine play set. Glad you got it back. I like when people get their stuff back and it’s a somewhat “happy” ending. A similar thing happened many years ago. Although not a big event but a large locals and I misplaced my extra deck and didn’t realize till I got home a friend ended up finding it before they left not knowing who’s it was and returned it to me after posting about it in our locals group. It’s just stuff like this can kind of ruin the cards or even deck for you after retrieving them. It’s like they are like a reminder of the horrible feeling. I’m not telling you what to do but maybe resleeving the deck in different colour as well changing the deck box could maybe remove that bad vibe. This video is good for really even going to play at locals. Anyways gl with future events. Hope this doesn’t happen again or to anyone else!

A tip for what to do with your bag is to put it between your legs and put your legs through the straps, if it is a small bag/pack with a single strap put the strap part on the seat and sit on the strap, although you can still just put your leg through it if that's more comfortable. If you have a backpack with two zippers and want to be really secure those small padlocks you use for luggage are a good way to go (I've known all sorts of cases were people have had all sorts of things taken straight out of their backpacks while standing around/in a queue etc.). However the best overall tip is for people to just be more conscious of where their stuff is, don't let anything out of your sight that you don't want to lose. And go with your gut, if someone around you just seems sketchy, they probably are.

      Ugh!
      Fucking brutal!
      I have that same deck!
If someone took any of those from me...
I would most definitely carve each and every missing card out of their flesh and tattoo the artwork on each rectangular slab to replace the deck!

Yo man, you should consider getting a Tile for your deck box. It’s pretty much a mini GPS device. They come in different sizes and are really affordable. I have a $400 wallet that I’ve lost a couple times and luckily found it by using my Tile! Even though you found it the device could be a little safety net for you to have a little piece of mind whenever you do go to another event! Just a thought you. Glad you got your deck back homie

What i usually do is when I have a big bag is something me and my friends came to call bag under foot. Put your bag right under your foot and you step on that thing until you get up to leave the table. Dont even lift a foot off the bag. Not for a second, until your leaving

Always check the lost and found. You don’t lose anything by checking. And check more than once.
I found a green cinch bad under a table at nats this year and brought it up to lost and found, but by then the convention center was almost empty and I don’t think that person got their stuff.

I always watch your Vids I saw your deck got stolen and I am glad you got it back honestly.
I have had so many cards stolen mostly not decks persay but my collection like of the most expensive stuff I had from exs which sold them to stores but I didn't know what to do I didn't want to take it to the police because I was worried they wouldn't have taken it seriously and things...
So I let it go and started again only to have it happen again.
All my first ed Ghost rares and more it was just like why both I should quit but I didn't and I am back to a decently good collection again.
    But that's my story.
But I am so glad you got your deck back but I know what you mean by the interaction with others.
    Stay playing and stay true.
    Peace!
    🙂

In college around 2011-2012, I used to play a junk synchron deck. I let someone borrow my deck plus extra deck. His person I duel with a few times before but we wasn't friends. At the time I didn't think letting him borrow my deck plus extra deck was a big deal but I learned the hard way. When I finally got my deck back I looked to make sure if all the right cards was in the deck they were. However that wasn't the case for my extra deck. I noticed a monster was missing in my extra deck. The whole experience put a bad taste in my mouth. I should of asked him about the missing card, but I didn't because I didn't want any drama with his person. After that I just didn't find the deck to be fun anymore. I ended up selling it to someone who asked. Someone I have duel with many times before. I sold it for way let then I should have. Like 10 dollars or so for the deck plus extra sense I wanted nothing do with the deck at that point of my life is most likely why I didn't care about selling it so low. Also I later learned the person who stole a card from me stole a good friend of mines laptop he let borrow. Stoling isn't cool and is a awful feeling when it happens to you, me and those who are friends of yours, family and people you don't know. It's a awful thing to happen to anyone really regardless how little or how much is stolen. Stealing is awful period.

One big tip, in each of your deckboxes, keep a slip of paper with your name and email saying "contact if you find it", just in case someone who is super nice finds it, but make sure its not a business email or something with a super raunchy title, and one more thing, help others with keeping and eye on their stuff and they will do the same for you, in general

Best tip i figured is put ur back pack under ur chair. Then put the chair unbetween the arm slots. Makes it so they cant steal it as its stuck to the chair if someone tries to take it u will feel it

gem protech backpacks seem like the ideal way to go as far as things in your backpack. theres obviously mental discipline for yourself that needs to be a thing. for example, putting your yugioh stuff in the locked part. and just because the bag has a lock doesnt mean you should be careless about it. because people can find someway to just rip the material to get acess to your stuff if they have your bag.

I would build a scapegoat copy of the deck I'm using at the tournament. Obviously some cards would share the same set id, but I would have it to throw off any potential thieves, being built of the least valuable copies of each card possible.

So now i learned specially with technology today i keep all my records everything i buy or bought over the years and took pictures of everything i took to my home after i bought something. Like if this happens to any of you yha do some methods of making sure people can trust you and know that this was your stuff that someone stole and it's also help out to know the employees to if you like to shop at one store or heck yugioh locals it will help a whole lot.

Yeah we had a buddy at our locals who always lent his decks or cards to his other buddy. Twice in a row that guy got one deck stolen, and never got it back. Second time he almost lost it but me and another guy at the regional at the time found it stationed on a table. Waited for hours to see if anyone would claim it. We grabbed it opened it and then checked it's contents and went. "WELP" this is his deck xD...

Glad you got the deck back, its a shame that this event ruined the deck for you. I have a tip for your followers about attending events too, to avoid theft. I always have a small travel lock on my bag so that if I am doing something I can lock the bag and that makes stealing stuff from the bag harder. Locks are inexpensive and can protect everything in a bag.
