- For 2022, Japan's Casio releases a rare high-end digital dial version of its lauded MR-G collection of elevated G-Shock watches with the MRG-B5000. The timepiece takes the GMW-B5000 case shape to the next level using impressively engineered titanium components, while keeping the legendary G-Shock durability the brand is known for. Two references are available; the MRGB5000D-1A ("silver" tone) and the MRGB5000B-1A (DLC black-coated version); pricing for the former is $3500 USD, and $4000 USD for the latter.

I recently bought the analogue MR-G B2000B "Ninja Black" version. It's so nice to wear, I caved in and bought this MR-G B5000B today.
Two very nice daily watches to compliment my Grand Seiko range
Hi, I want to know is it easy get scratches?
Congratulations! 👍
@lawyan3946 Had the watch now for 7 months and no scratches, nothing. But it does collect finger prints, so needs a wipe every now and then.
Sits next to my Rolex GMT Master 2 "Rootbeer"... lovely watch 😊

How time flies, we grew up with you Ariel. I remember 10 years ago reading ablogtoread named back then ablogtowatch. Everything I know about watches I learned it from your blog.Keep growing.
Great video! Not a lot of MRG content on UA-cam, but I'm glad the significance of this watch is explained without hyperbole. The analog models are awesome, but not subtle. These models serve as mature, stealth wealth timepieces that don't make the wearer look like a showoff. The price is very steep, but G-Shock has quality offerings at all price levels. I can't wait to at least try it on before I make a strong judgement about it. An article about unexpected, unusually expensive, but still acquirable watches from other "budget-friendly" brands would be an interesting read. Keep up the great work!
I receive Watch Time magazine and it is pretty good at covering most price points.
The GW-5000U still remains for me the best and truly G
Definitely great choice
Hi, I’m sorry for my english. The movement of MR-G B5000 is different of other GMW-B5000 (steel lr titanium); the MR-G’s module use a different App* and has the plate with gold plated for a minor electrical resistance.
*in this App you can register your watch with serial number (so it could help for a stolen watch).
Love it, gonna get the black thanks to Ur review!
I’d somehow totally missed that they’d done a new MRG iteration of the square! The old vintage MRG square digital still my fav though
Thanks for video. Hope to check these out at some point. The square grail.
I have an analogue MR-G. I absolutely love it. I can't wait to try and find the black and gold MR-G!
Great video, mate 👍
Picked up the bare titanium model yesterday. The build quality and finish are outstanding. Feels amazing on the wrist.
Does it have micro adjust on the clasp?
@@SepOn35 Yes, 3 adjustments vs 4. Due to the MR-G locking feature that is added.
Congratulations! 👍
Great review, thank you, is the black version more like a gun metal finish? It seems that way in videos, seems more grey, which would you have?
Great video. Thank you. I have been waiting the right MrG and I think it has arrived. Is the black version shinny?.
It looks like polished ceramic on the video. The black and gold accents are great but I am worried its too shiny
Are the functions (module) the same between the MR-G square and the “regular” metal square? Does the lugs has the same articulation? The black MR-G square looks awesome.
Wish they made the normal gmw-b5000 in titanium, that way hopefully it can come in closer to $800-1000. Love the Titanium color and weight savings.
Looking good Ariel! 😎
I'm a casio fan, but 4k?
So the MRGB5000D-1 has a "Titanium Carbide" which you are saying is less scratch resistant than the DLC on the MRB5000b-1. Is the scratch resistance significantly different? How would the titanium carbide coating compare to the DLC coating on a Casio GMWB5000TB that costs half as much? Do you have a personal preference between the two watches shown? Thanks!
Great review. G-Shock is rapidly pricing their watches out of what I will consider for a beater. That said, I appreciate the amazing functions and durability of this one. I would even use this as a dive watch. By setting the backlight to automatic, there would be no reason to use a pusher under water. Just start the stopwatch before submerging.
Wonder if it’ll appreciate like the Porter variant
I love the b5000er in black
Is the titanium used in this watch the same as the one used in the Virtual Armor model?
G-SHOCK USER: the resin bezel cracks over time!
G-SHOCK: no problem, we'll make it out of titanium and will have 25 components.
Nice review...... but can that bracelet be changed to a strap??? I just prefer straps
Good review. Thanks! Just wondering how much different between MRGB5000 vs GMWB5000 titanium version which have pretty good finishing when compared to GMWB5000 stainless steel.
Just higher end materials and finishing and the MRG status, better to stick with the metal squares as all metal g shocks have absolutely useless signals and alarms which are inaudible due to the casing.
@@Phil5150Bower : No. They are completely different watches in every sense. Search for the Casio video on these watches and you will see. There is literally no part the same between them. That's like saying a Seiko 5 is the same watch as a Grand Seiko, not even close.
Masterpiece😍😍😍
These are so nice. It’s luxury so it’s all subjective what it’s “worth” for you or not worth.
I bought a DLC verson... We will see if I add the naked version later. Thanks for the video.
Same Congrats on the piece👍🏾
I’m waiting for these titanium g shocks to come down in price. I’m also slightly confused between all these square meta g shocks.
Believe me the prices never goes down
The ultimate watch
I love the new gshock lines from TVA to this MRG. I think the biggest deterrent for me is the lug to lug. I purchased the TVA model but the effective lug to lug is too big for my 6.5" wrist resulting in overhang. I found my gwm5610 with an aftermarket Titanium bracelet just wears better. I dont mind paying 4K, but they need to nail the lug to lug distance
The mrg has a shorter lug to lug distance, so the bracelcet hugs my 6.3 inch wrist much better then the gmw, seriously thinking about selling my gmw collection and get a mrg instead.
This is so dope
Which looks better in the flesh?
Wow… great watch just need to digest this price
how much does the watch cost?

Casio is my favorite watch sine I was kid . Toughest and reliable great. Love the titanium black but price is way too much for me .
My line of work deals with moving vigorously and I've destroyed 2 automatic watches from Seiko and Tagheur,
Bought a cheap gshock and I was impressed with the built quality so now I've bought a better version now. 😊
gorgeous.
Interesting that the review started with a comparison with the GMW-b5000 (the OG square steel). It should have been that the MR-G model came out first then the normal steel one, which in this case is the original. Just makes the exclusivity proposition gone. Both are extremely nice pieces though, have to say that.
The module has gold plated connectors and as far as I’m aware, that’s the only real difference on the inside. That’s a lot of extra cash to pay for a bit of gold plating.
You may for the case, bezel and bracelet. The module is pretty much the same one as inside the steel square.
Nice Gshock But gees the lug to lug with the end links. It’s not wearable so I’ll stick to my 2 5610 Gshock Resine. 😊
Great video I'm not trying to be horrible the price is absolutely ridiculous has the same movements as the other titanium Square g-shocks.
No GPS 😊 so cannot get my head round paying that sort of money when I can get the other to Titanium square G G-shocks.
The quality of the video looks nicely done. Although take a little bit of time and adjust the wristband of your watch before putting it on. It's just lazy. It's a review after all. Don't be lazy about it. Over all 8/10. For good efforts.
Nice watch but the price is a dealbreaker. The steel version is good enough for me
The best watch in the history
why no mention of the light? And no demonstration of the illumination?
Cause it’s the same module as every other square
Nice 👌🏽
do these take batteries
Solar powered. So it has a capacitor. They last longer than batteries. But do not last forever. And will need replacement at some point.
The black one make me act like:shut up and take money.i want that😅😅
This is such a wonderful model, I just can't justify the price.
I want to see an MRG Rangeman.
i like the watch and I have no doubt that it is well made. but i think it is too steep in its price compared to other G shock square. Will it sell out like a hot cake ? Absolutely. I too spend thousands on Seikos/Grand Seikos, which in other people's eyes, is not well justified.
Who cares what others think, this is your collection.
I have the same problem with MRGs and Speedmasters
Great :)
What a beauty is the black DLC model :) Simply stunning, it is probably the best square that Casio has ever made.
However USD 4000 is simply an unreal price, specially when you can find most of the metal squares under USD 600, which are in fact 80% the same watch. I am aware that the MR-G has some improvements but I don´t think that these justify a x8 in the price.
I would be willing to spend USD 2000 for one of these because its uniqueness and quality built, but higher than this seems an out-of-market proposal for me.
I hope that Casio will rectify with the price but the demand of the customers will decide.
In any case it is one of the most eye-catching watches I have seen in a lot of time :)
Ariel, I like watching you for some reason. You should put yourself onscreen more. Your gestures seem to enhance the topic and your point. Listening to you doesn’t have the same impact.
$2000 would be a fair price but not 4k
Gmwb5000tva then.
$200.00 not a penny more 😂
$2000? More like $500 max
So funny, people who can't comprehend why a digital watch can be expensive. But it's totally acceptable for a brand like Rolex to ask +$10.000
Black or Silver, tough choice.
I wonder if the case (and bezel) are made out of 25 different parts, does not make it a weaker construction. Compared to a case and bezel made out of just 3 solid parts ?
Not necessarily. A steel rope that holds a bridge is made of small lines of steels twisted together. If it was solid steel is would collapse instantly. It depends on the engineering behind it
I love the much needed update however with the same module in as other gshocks such as my GMW-B5000TVA-1ER it makes the truth apparent that it's mutton dressed as lamb a watch of that splendour needs a new module to match the price and most certainly needs to be independent with GP'S and not relying upon a phone via Bluetooth as a crutch.... Like I said for this type of money you should not be having past on the price of the concept but the price of premium.. This watch is all case and bracelet (which are 100%class) but with no higher spec module its a case of the best man out dressing the groom... No longer battery life, no GP'S, no advanced display, its like when a hermit crab takes over a more beautiful shell than belongs to him... They must be doing this as a marketing strategy but in my opinion the module let's it down.. The balance was equal with the GMW-B5000TVA-1ER...
I shed a tear also for the people that bought the equally expensive limited edition squares by Porter what a kick in the teeth for them this watch is which is a true generation apart this watch case and body are ones that addressed the bulky lugs etc and blocky look of the Squares warts aside from the GMW-B5000TVA-1ER........ As for the materials I think this quite similar to my mrg-g2000cb-1adr....
Great review thanks
You can pick these up second hand for fair prices now
4x more scratch resistant titanium… so my hair will still scratch it. Like the matt but my first mod would be making face of the titanium watch look like it’s steel version. Would be because the price and size of this is not for me. Still, some would like it.
I would love to own either one. But, ouch! Those prices...
Finding it kind of boring. A few years ago they released titanium B5000's and while they did sell out, they sold for a quarter of the MR-G price. Does the extra finishing and parts justify 4x more? I don't think so. I want the G-Shock team to start looking more into the MTG line and some of the designs with the G1000D. That seems like a solid push into risky territory, and those watches have the GPS functionality without the need for cell phones. I get the metal square rebrand, but it just doesn't shock me anymore. "G-Shock does a titanium square" is pretty boring after doing it three times.
A fool easily parted with his money, far too expensive.
I love the MRG-B5000 but I don't like the brick pattern on it. Sure it's retro but the brick pattern is still cheesy.
Absolutely wonderful watches but the price is just obscene 😞
This is not the same module as used in the GMW-B5000.
It's cool but completely redundant. There's so little that sets it aside from the steel square that I am shocked they're trying (And probably succeeding) to sell it for about 7x the price. The steel square was already the kind of watch that you could probably convince a layman you bought from your supermarket. The steel square was a neat novelty, not much more than a gimmick. I'm happy I got one, the plain silver steel on a steel bracelet, I wear it a lot. I thought their 'mecha' variant was pretty cool too, though the other variants were all awful in my eyes. I can forgive those because they're pocket change in comparison. This is a waste of money. They're out of ideas.
Also a dynamic bracelet adjustment mechanism on the buckle would have been much more useful than the lock.
They sell well. So I'm pretty sure next year (or the year after) Casio will introduce an even more expensive one. With even more exotic materials. Just to milk some more money from the collector who wants to have "The Ultimate" G-Shock.
That’s why they call it stealth wealth.. you buy it for you.
Cobarion is not a titanium alloy
Aside from the exotic titanium alloys, with that digital display, it still looks cheap.
Because it is. In the end it's just a quartz watch.
@@MrPleers nah some quartz watches are worth the price a grand seiko spring drive or 9f caliber are worth the money
$4,000 for a square is absolute lunacy.
Much better than omega
hate the red on the mrg-b5000 so its a no
Is it worth 4000k ❓❓❓
Not for me. I rather have a mechanical watch for that money.
What luxury is “worth” the price? That is up to the person who wants it.
❤️❤️❤️
Too expensive and too similar to the G shock steel square . I don't get it.
Simple. For collectors who wants to have the "ultimate" G-Shock. They are willing to pay the price no matter what. First it was steel. Then came titanium, Now it's super-duper titanium with a case made out of 25 especially crafted parts. Be sure Casio will bring out an even more exotic and expensive square every 2 years or so. Until even the most devoted collector can't justify the price anymore.
Material, water resistance and amount made.
@@MrPleers I have the steel one in all black, I really want to get this new black one but its 6k for me in nz and I dont know if I can justify the price jump. I spent 1k on the steel one but 6k for a gshock just seems kinda crazy. Do you think it will drop by half the price in about a year or 2?
it cost as much as my Tudor :S but I do like the silver version
❣️👍👍👏
I’m sure the bracelet pins and screws aren’t titanium…therefore NOT next level.
4k gshock square that's not even limited
what the actual...
4000! How's that for inflation!
The only people who would care or identify that you're wearing this are Casio fans who know the history, quality, function, and "value" of this watch. To the casual viewer it'll look like a $18 Casio from Walmart.
Sgt. Joe Friday. hahaha
ridiculous price for a g-shock
Not for that price!
4 grand for a digital watch?!?!? Ridiculous
Awesome watches, but the price is TOO DAMN HIGH.
No thanks…GMW all the way. 🤷🏻♂️
Nice watches but the price is too high for a Casio in my opinion.
4 grand for a digital watch?!?! Cough! Hack! Sputter!
$ 500- is the max I'm willing to pay for a quartz watch. For 4 grand, you start to move into Omega territory. And getting closer towards Rolex.
Sorry you can buy a GWB5600 which you can buy for 150 dollars which does everything a 4000 dollar MRG does. What are you buying 🤔
Actually, your $150- G-Shock will be a beater watch that you can wear without having any worry about scratches. A $4000- G-Shock will be pampered like a precious dresswatch. And be taken from the wrist when the going gets tough. 😯
JAPAN MADE OR NOT
All high end G Shocks are Japan basic stuff here
$3700. lol
overpriced.
Bullshit … it’s just to target rich poeple
Not worth a penny over $200.00 😂😂🎉also there app sucks😊
