This is why I follow you! You’ve covered the titanium models extensively. Glad to see that the MR-G watches didn’t get lost in the shuffle. The Square is so iconic - glad Casio isn’t resting on its laurels but is using technology and materials to produce the most beautiful G-Shocks ever made. Casio has given the Square the attention it deserves. Great vid!
This thing is insane. A true heirloom. Calling this watch the Terminator, it’s the last Gshock you’ll ever buy! Haha reminds me of a T800 or T1000 from the movies. I don’t think I’ll buy one though. With these more expensive models I look at them in terms of how many resin squares I can buy for the same price!
It's not the same thing. That's like saying how many Corollas can I buy for the price of a BMW M5. Just as a Rolex is probably not for you, neither is this. You're not paying for that little timing module. And if you think it's worth the same as those resin ones, go ahead and make one and lets see how much you charge for your equally intricate work. As with everything, you're not just paying for the cost of raw materials, if so, a Birkin bag would simply be $89 max, you'd only pay $19 for your iphone.
The new module has gold in it, a bit unclear as to why, possibly to reduce EMI or to provide greater corrosion resistance. If you are old enough to to afford one of these it should outlast you. If you are a rapper gifting one to your newborn 👶🏻 the 2099 calendar limit may not cut it.
MR-G B5000D-1 is very beautiful watch⌚✨ Thank you for reviewing. Rob's review is very good. CASIO and G-SHOCK is the pride of Japan🇯🇵 This comment has come from Japan🗾 Thank you.
I'm not really into the high spending g shocks. But I have to admit, the construction does appear to justify it's cost if I compare it to say my tudor bb58 (already a great value watch by most peoples accounts).
I found the initial metal versions way too 'blingy' and bought the GW-5000U-1ER instead. Yet this brushed titanium version: Waaaw! Thank you for the review, Rob! Best regards from Belgium
I really like it! This is the look to get in this exact finish. The very sharp details that enhance the iconic square design are super nice. I doubt I'll fork up the $$$$ to get one, tough. And, yet there's already a 3rd MR-G Square that is black with blue accents.. recently leaked photos. Looks pretty nic, too! All this is missing is glide lock clasp. Done! For fun, how fast could you deconstruct this and put it back together again? 😂
@@vitaboost The other day I went to a Casio AD to try on the GMW-B5000(most basic model) and found out it's one of the only few left in my city, and the fact that it cost almost 900 bucks. Yikes.
Yeah the blue accent one is gorgeous but $4,000 I just can’t on a Casio I realize it’s titanium but hell I can get a real gold seiko for way less than that and it’s made of gold !!!
Titanium is more comfortable to wear than stainless steel, but I question the durability of multi piece case construction over a couple of blocks of steel screwed together. The price is not excessive if considered against other top luxury brands with similar levels of finishing but at that price point I expect most potential customers would be looking for a traditionally styled analogue watch. Very desirable but only for collectors rather than daily wear. I will just have to make do with the full metal stainless steel version at a tenth the price.
I would certainly wear this daily, if I owned one. Or at least every other day. I see this in a two-watch collection easily, paired with a dress watch for functions, and this for most everything else. As for outdoor activities, that’s what I’d wear my Apple watch for. I’ve never really considered the Apple Watch a watch, anyways. It’s a wrist computer/Notification Center, to me.
I can't wrap my head around Casio and their crazy expensive watches recently. I appreciate the upgraded chassis and materials, but I personally can't go back to this old module after having the GBX-100 and its 3482 module.
That’s precisely what’s so interesting about this watch. It makes you reconsider what a luxury watch is. When you buy a Rolex/luxury watch the cost of the movement/analog components costs very little and you pay 3x+ the cost of this watch.
Gave up TVA, had to decide between black and silver. Glad I went with silver. This is not anywhere near the stainless steel. Shame to have all the polished services covered by DLC on the black version
Exactly! I was torn between the B5000B and the B5000D, but ultimately went with the silver. To me, it’s just more striking and showcases the beauty of the brushed titanium. The DLC coating on the black version is undeniably cool, but why hide the elegance of pure titanium behind a coating?
I have the B, the BA and finally the D on its way. They are true engineering and design marvels. To the folk extolling the virtues of the ‘luxury’ brands, what you have here is perfect timekeeping with MB6, an alloy in Cobarion that’s stronger and lighter than Oystersteel, zero or very little servicing costs compared to $1000s for luxury timepieces. You also have 5 alarms, world times, alpha gel vibration resistance, solar power etc etc. If you dig your luxury brands, fine, I have some sweet Hamilton and Breitlings too, I just love watches, but the MRG is superior in every objectively measurable way.
I get that they're going for the 1983 Square look, but I think the silver GMW with the positive display looks more MRG that this one. Really hard not to be critical at that price point. Really sad how the first link of the bracelet is still non-articulating.
not if you want and appreciate the actual contruction and fine details won’t get it in a kit. Have this watch…it’s all the G Shock I’ll ever want or need. Love it
It's a really cool watch but once you pass the financial threshold of the standard full metal Gshocks I'm out. No doubt it is a great looking watch made of quality materials, but not at that price point. I'm sure there are some huge fans of the brand who wouldn't hesitate.
If Tudor can charge 3000 for a simple watch with an ETA mechanism then I think CASIO can also charge 3500 on this model. Maybe this CASIO would make more sense to buy.
I reached out to Casio USA and was told that between the two, that the black DLC version has a coating that is several times harder than the silvery titanium carbide version. I really think the silver is nicer but the durability is a concern.
I can see this and the DLC going for the avid collector who makes a decent living, fine. Just can't see it, coming close to the price of an Aquaterra or Quartz Grand Seiko. But each their own, and good to see differences on collectors.
I currently own about 35 Casios, including 5 squares, so I’m a fan(atic). With over 100 wristwatches, I do not wear any watch enough that I have justified spending much over $500 for any one watch. Although I like this new watch very much, would I really wear it more often than my GMWB5000D-1? If it was closer to $1000, I might consider it. The Casio I wear the most is my GW-S5600-1JF (46 gm.), which is what I wear bicycling.
I rather have quality over quantity this thing is so satisfying on the wrist I wouldn’t take 100 lesser kiddie watches over a grail. I gave my 500 dollar sub watches all it my 10 year old nephew. This is a grown up ‘s G Shock
I think the prices on these will only increase as the materials are so exclusive. Cobarion for example is only available from a single supplier in the entire world and with the amount of hand finishing and assembly required for this watch, I don't think Casio can make these sustainably for this price for much longer.
Hi Rob, a very valid question here: did Casio update and optimise the lug-to-lug width (including the bracelet endlink protruding spans) on the MRG square? The standard metal squares, be it a Ti or SS, have rather big lug-to-lug width, kinda bothering smaller wrists.

So, it's 7 times the price, for like 2 times the cost of materials and constructions. This thing is such a cashgrab, a 10k$ rolex starts to almost make sense. . I own several squares, GW/DW5000, GMW etc., but let's not forget that in essence, it's still the same 80 bucks watch basically. Nice watch but lug to lug is too big because of the links after and sorry that’s not worth the price. I really like both of my Gshock GWM 5610 because there nice wearable and not too expensive.☺️
How resistant is the titanium bracelet to scratches? The all-silver GMWB5000D picks up scratches so easy, do you think it will be the same for titanium?
What annoys me is that the top of the bezel is polished, I would have loved that to be brushed. Also the red square line annoys me, i throw the design off too much. If ignoring that, this watch looks amazing.
Man, I hope they use that finishing technique and the multi-part bezel construction on the steel versions. I'll fork over $4-6 hundred, but $4000, nah.
They also continue to make inexpensive models. Anyone that still prefers the $45 DW-5600E can still get it. I'm fine with some high end options if they're not just increasing prices across the board.

Can you swap the bracelet out for a rubber or Cordura band?
Will Casio manufacture with GPS again?... or is it already consolidated as a SmartWatch company? that already becomes a slave of the mobile phone even to see the state of the battery... a pity.. MR-G without GPS, without Status Batery in Watch
For most people they will see this watch and think oh it's a $50 dollar Casio you bought at Walmart or Target ! NOT 4K for a CASIO !
Jesus how does this watch cost so much money? Is it made from gold or what? damn
Alot of cash but boy its pretty. Id just wear it round the house because its too pretty to mess up. Sadly I cant stretch to 3500. ill stick with my 1997 MRG 200T. Stii looking sharp after 25 years. The MRG lines are something else. Casio know.
I just picked up a GMW-B5000G-1. Pre-owned but unworn for $400. Could justify spending more on a square. That being said these MR-G are sick.
Are the materials resistant to scratches, compared against stainless steel ?
Thanks
The materials are much harder and scratch resistant compared to stainless steel
This or the black one though?
😆 y2k compliant. Can you summon a superhero with this watch?
I'm Sorry I Couldn't understand What You SAID.., =After You Said The Word "Titanium", ..IT SOUNDS LIKE You Said,
(( ""ITS Gonna Be a PIN & TOWER" ))?
What does that Mean? .. PLEASE Explain
He says "Pin and collar" to describe the adjustment of the bracelet.
very nice watch but the price is pure madness.
Nice watch 👍
Hy
what about the alarm sound. Same poor sound, no soud, like the gmw b5000 models?
Goes beep beep beep
Hello,
are you the Rodrunner? Because I don't see any answer on my question!
art!
Wow. 🤯
$ 3.500- for a quartz watch. Shocked !😵💫
NONSENSE!
I'm a watch guy with 30+ luxury pieces in my collection and about 15-20 Gshocks of all types. I also waste way more money than I should on watches, so I am the target buyer for these over-priced Gshocks haha. That said, even I can't justify or understand spending 3,500 on this. Super cool piece but should be 2000-2500 cheaper. Casio is getting way to wild haha.
